Does anywhere here use Parallels?

I use it currently on my 2011 11 inch and run things like Civ4, Amnesia, etc well...

Would a bit older games such as GTA4, L.A. Noire, etc...be runnable within OSX? I'd like to avoid the partioning if possible...I would be hugely grateful if anyone using a VM with XP or 7 could test a few games...

Results below from a 13" i5/8gb/128 machine running on OSX (no Boot Camp)

World of Warcraft, High All Settings Except Good Ground Clutter+Water, Trilinear:

A comfy ~36-45 fps! Flying around in the middle of a packed Orgrimmar. Raiding drops the FPS to ~32-37 in heavy graphical conditions. Smooth as butter!

Diablo 3, High Settings/Antialiasing On
~23-26 FPS in small/med fighting conditions

HDD Write/Read
4xx/7xx. I don't think that having the extra 300mb/s on write would make much difference in gaming or...probably anything else... :p 4xx is hella fast!

I just ran the built-in benchmark tool for Tomb Raider on the default normal settings and averaged 25 FPS. I'm sure if I tweaked it some, I would get closer to 30-35. Not bad for on the go gaming.

Stock medium settings, native res, with no gamebooster or added vram = 25fps?

Nice... brb tweaking, using gamebooster and adding vram and getting 35fps+ haha.

Thanks dude.

Thanks for this! Adding to OP.

Very welcome <3

Also, I don't know if it matters, but I was outputting the video via Thunderbolt to a 1080p display. So it was running, obviously, in 1080p. :p

could you possibly check d3 in osx, 1440x 900 with all low settings/off/ no aa/background/foreground fps low /low fx checked ?

i only have 1 game i play .

On my new 2013 MBA i7 8/512 my Kerbals are flying around the universe like never before. A NOTICABLE improvement. Frame rate has gone way up and I can set the game graphics pretty much to maximum.

The machine heats up and the fan spins big time just like my 2012 when I play the game but no worse than the 2012.

After playing SC2 extensively the past few days, I think we should update the scores. Ultra is not playable. High is playable in a moderate to light 2v2 game. The best results I got were on Medium with some scattered High settings at 1440x900.

Portal 2 / Team Fortress 2 / CS: Source ran perfectly at maxed-out settings on native resolution. 2013 MBA, i7, 8GB, 512GB, 13". Windows 8 Pro.

Could you make a video of tf2's performance on os X, showing your graphic settings? Greatly appreciated if you can.

Unfortunately I found an amazing deal on a 13" Retina so I will be returning this Air first thing in the morning. I hope someone else can provide a video!

I'm also curious on how Diablo 3 runs, especially the heat the laptop generates while playing as i've been playing Diablo 3 on my Macbook air 11" 2012 and it gets pretty hot. How about the MBA 2013?

Diablo 3 plays very well on max settings except Shadowing. I had to set it to medium. Didn't get any FPS numbers, just logged in, killed a few mobs, then logged off to finish setting up my laptop :)

Could you play for maybe around 20-30mins on act 2 or 3? How about the heat? My MBA 2012 gets really hot. Does the 2013 MBA run cooler when playing Diablo 3?

Thanks, I doubted that sc2 report on the front page. My 2011 iMac 21" (i7, ssd, amd hd 6770) can't do ultra at anything playable, and I think that video card should still be better than the new integrated graphics...

MUCH cooler. It gets warm, not hot. Even after a hour of playing.

Ya, don't get me wrong, I am very impressed with the HD 5000 (It's a huge upgrade for me coming from an 8600M GT), but the game is butter smooth at Medium with scattered High settings, 45-30FPS. I have no idea who submitted the Ultra score on the front page, but it's NOT playable.

Updating OP, but do you have MSAA or post-processing on high? You can likely lower one of these intensive settings and get a lot of frames back whilst leaving everything else on ultra.

Playing on Windows will also = about 10 extra fps.

How about Lol?

Guys, what do you think about LoL ? I'll buy the new mba. I'm just wondering if I can play LoL on mba with high settings  . Is there anyone who tried it?
