We need a dedicated MacBook Air case thread. Waiting to purchase a new M2 Air and starting to think about a simple sleeve. Right now leaning towards the Incase compact sleeve. Enough for the Air and the charging brick. Anyone have any other solid suggestions?

Doesn’t have corner bumpers on the bottom of the bag, and admittedly over priced. But these bags look nice and are specifically made for the M2 airs.

Are full body clear skins not recommended anymore for the MBA?

Haven't seen many on the market of full body skins. Is it due to the tight tolerances of the computer lid closing?

I have been using this sleeve for the MBA for years and recommend it:

I use the same one. It is worth the money and much better than anything Apple sells.

Either in hand or in a backpack. So looking for something slim. Maybe with a small pocket for cable or charger.

Water field just came out with a mba2 sleeve. I have several of their products and highly reccomend. their new sleeve has a pocket to store cables and such. I ordered mine with a strap so I can use it as a case as well. Here is the link:

I have a M2 13" MBA on order and planning to order a sleeve for it and looking at the Nomad PU Sleeve.

Since the M2 MBA has a new design, I'm not sure if the current designed sleeve will fit. I DM Nomad on Twitter asking if this current version will fit or if a new design will be released to fit the new model. Waiting for a response.

I have a lot of, and still use, Waterfield gear from the days when they used more advanced, practical materials. Their retro-leather/canvas look really puts me off.

I will re-purpose my Yoshida Porter 13” Macbook case which I picked up at the Apple Store in Ginza a couple years ago. Heck, given the dimensions, I bet my Apple leather case for my 2018 MBP will work fine, too.

the best sleeve i've ever owned is the one from booqbag (for my 12" macbook). perfect fit, slim, stylish (not that anyone sees it). wish they were still in business.

am sure we'll start seeing a lot of sleeves and cases soon, as with every macbook pro & air before this new one. but hopefully sooner than later...

Good to hear you had a good experience with this brand. I love the way it looks. I also love the extra pocket and the strap. I ordered a starlight air and I think it’s going to look great in the brown waxed canvas.

I agree. Just not into their style.

I had an awesome sleeve from them. I think they went out of business.

If I needed a sleeve/case I'd definitely look at a hard shell case. Will probs get one for if the need arises.

I like the idea of a hard shell case, but I am worried putting it on might scratch the unit, or the case not allow for proper ventilation or the case causing pressure points. What are your thoughts/ experiences with any negative issues from a hard shell?

I have witnessed some bad situations with hard shell cases on the Air and 12” MB from close family and friends which convinced me to stay away from them. It seems a lot of dirt and dust gets stuck between the case and computer and required routine cleaning of the case. And they aren’t dirty people; it’s from taking in and out of bags and storing in bags. Also could be from the case obstructing the outward air flow from the fans on the old Air. Removing the shell can stress the plastic where it connects and they can snap more easily.

I am looking for a new leather sleeve for the M2 Air bc I do not think my current sleeve will accommodate the larger footprint.

Yep, the bottom of my 2014 got scratched up from grit which collected between the computer and case, but I almost never removed it and after seven years of use the whole things was scratched up I don't really worry about it. So far I've been removing the hard case from my current six month old 16" so I can wipe down both the laptop and case and I haven't noticed anything of the sort.
Also could be from the case obstructing the outward air flow from the fans on the old Air.
Every MBP hard case I've had has cutouts so they don't block airflow. But that's a non issue with the fan-less Airs.
Removing the shell can stress the plastic where it connects and they can snap more easily.
I've been using a generic hardcase on my 16" MBP and even after weekly removals to clean it, the tabs remain unbroken.

FWIW I've noticed that the new anodizing finsh is a little more slippery than what was on my 2014MBP; I think its smoother with less texture. One benefit of the matte finish hard cases (I think a skin would provide the same benefit) is that I can more securely carry it in one hand with a lighter grip.
