I am looking for recommendations for slim zipper sleeves or bags designed for the new M2 MBA.

Any recommendations?

The bags on Amazon seem to be designed for the pro or m1. They say compatible w the M2 but it would be great if there was a new one designed perfectly for it.

Maybe nbd? The old mba and 13 pro sleeves fit good enough?

My use case is I throw this in a smaller backpack and the sleeve helps keep the machine from getting scratched up and offers some minor protection at the corners and sides.

So, slim is good. No need for handles etc. One more criteria, I am looking for non-animal sourced materials, so

This is the one I got.

what size is the herschel case in the picture?

I went with an ultracheap thing on Amazon while deciding on whether or not to get something more substantial. Really tempted by the SFBags offerings.

Have also bought a large microfibre to put over the keys and reduce the amount of finger oil transferring to the screen.

A little bit on the pricey side, but great quality. Have ordered two MacBook cases from him over the years and have had nothing but great service and quick shipping via DHL or UPS from Lithuania. Be aware though, there was duty imposed importing to Canada on top of the price once delivered.

I can vouch personally for these cases:
Mission Leather Co

I have one I purchased years ago for my MacBook Pro 13 (which incidentally now fits my new M2 Air), and also purchased one for my 2019 16" Pro. Excellent cases. They frequently have sales that bring the prices down 20-30%.

I got the Comfyable sleeve from Amazon for $16. It's "vegan leather" but it fits really well on both the M1 and M2 with no zippers, velcro or magnets. Besides the atrocious branding - so far so good. I'll be requesting a nice leather folio for the next celebration but these will do until then.

I read a few complaints about magnetic closures interfering with the sleep mode of the MBA. Anyone run into this problem or is it not really a big deal? Because that SF bag looks sexy and the only thing holding me back is the possible headache of the magnets interfering with sleep mode.

I considered this, because it’s one of the only decent looking no-leather options.

But there are a couple reviews that it is too plasticy.

I have plenty of leather stuff I’ve acquired over time but these days I am really trying to avoid buying new products with it.

I’m not vegan but I am working toward eating less meat and hope to eventually give it all up at some point.

Part of the reason leather is used so much is because it is relatively cheap and durable.

But there are options I’ve seen like 2-ply cork that has a good feel and would work great as an alternative accent material on some of the premium options here. This guitar strap shows an example use of this.

Given how progressive Apple is in so many areas, I’m surprised how often leather is used in official accessories. To my knowledge the company does not make statements of concern about animal use in materials.

It suggests to me that being concerned about this is on the early side even in 2022.

Anyway, I ended up getting the MOSISO sleeve bags, one w handle one w/o. Neither fit super snug, so they are a wee bit frumpy with their “1980s” zippers and all.

The customer review photos show that they don’t look nice and flat like in the product photos.

But they are cheap and functional, and maybe people will mistake me for some Luddite with a crappy old windows netbook.

I’d consider looking at the old school neoprene ones if I could find one designed for or snuggly fitting the mba m2.

I found this hardshell case for the Air M2 from a company called Uniqfind. Shipping in mid August. Can anyone vouch for their cases? Thanks.

Interesting. So far, no, I haven’t seen this with my SF bag. I have the horizontal version.

I believe that that problem, which appeared to only affect some users, has been resolved by Waterfield. If you do a forum search, you should be able to find the pertinent posts.

The SfBag case is really nice. I have one and can attest. Plus it is made in the USA, and expensive San Francisco on top of that. So appreciate the price premium for what it is.

I'm a huge fan of SF Bags and own several of their products. But if you'd like a decent cheaper solution that's pretty minimal, I got this one a couple years ago and it fits the M2 Air perfectly with enought room for the charger and other small items.
I like Waterfield Bags, but they're so expensive. I know they're made in the USA, and I would usually pay double for that and I have bought several of their bags... but sometimes it's just over the top for what it is. I don't find them to be made that much better than anything else. And they're not designed so elegantly in my opinion. I really think they could make the perfect bag if they got rid of some of the leather accents. Either go leather, or go waxed canvas with leather. The ballistic nylon with leather is just ridiculously hideous.

Have you tried https://nutsac.com ? I have three of their bags and the quality of waxed canvas and leather are awesome.

I have the black one and it's pretty good. Definitely can't tell it's pleather unless you're very close. For $16...

Just to update: I went with the SFBags SleeveCase (This One) in horizontal and black with a strap.

Got it today; it’s exactly what I wanted. It’s brilliant. I appreciate that it’s on the pricey side (especially with overseas shipping) but it’s the only thing I’ve found that is comparable to what I had for my 15” MBP (which was a now discontinued Samsonite product).

I was looking at this same one for my M1 MBP 14". Glad it's getting good reviews. I love the little pouch it comes with.
For the price its actually great quality. I have one in black with the handle and this grey one as a sleeve. The black bag can fit the charger and cable in the front pouch, just a bit more bulky. Deciding which one I'll keep and then let my stepson use the other one for his Aero 13.

I really want the Dash Sleeve from Waterfield/SF Bags and I signed up to their newsletter but it looks like they RARELY have sales or promo codes.
It's a hard pill to swallow to spend $95 after shipping for a sleeve that I might use once after 3 months.

I just ordered the NutSac Satchel-13 for my M2 Air. I have a Satchel-11 I got years ago that I use with the iPad and used with the MBAir 11".

I’ve been buying from them over 20 years. There won’t be codes because they don’t need any. That’s what happens when you’re the best. 💅

Yeah I definitely might not be their market.
In the past five years, laptops have left my house a total of under five times.

Might be too much of a luxury for those one in a blue moon situations.
