I’m glad there’s been an update to the keyboard. But I personally never had keyboard issues.

I think you're still asleep or hibernating. That's been done.Nice. Force Apple to build better keyboards.
Why is lawsuit justified just because Apple made a crappy product? LOLOLOL.The butterfly keyboards were horrendous and it took Apple far too long to correct their mistake. This Lawsuit is justified.
Why? If the design fails 5% instead of a normal .1% then 95% of the repairs will be successful. Some unlucky people will have repeat failures. And I bet the butterfly keyboard failure rate was less than 5%.To be fair, extended repair programs where they replace the faulty part with a similar one that will eventually fail again for the same reason should not be allowed. Same with the 2011 MacBook Pro with the AMD GPU.
They should just recall the devices and replace the faulty part with a redesigned one that doesn’t have the fundamental flaw that caused the recall in the first place.
Totally worth everyone's time. Especially for the lawfirm that gets 40% of the overall award.Exited to get my $8.67 check in 4 years.
Yes, you would be correct. So, I guess they can't replace a butterfly keyboard with a newer scissor keyboard? visually from the outside, they look the same, so I will guess that there is an internal space difference....or other design issues.
If a recall program is issued, then it means they recognised the issue as being a flaw and it’s a matter of time until the flaw makes it fail, not whether it will make it fail or not. First thing they should do was to do reengineer the part and proceed to replace it on the affected devices. Why? If the design fails 5% instead of a normal .1% then 95% of the repairs will be successful. Some unlucky people will have repeat failures. And I bet the butterfly keyboard failure rate was less than 5%.
I cannot wait to collect my 5$ and watch some lawyers collect 300 million. Oh yeah! Justice done.
Hey everyone, DanTSX fixed it. Turns out those of us who had issues with the keyboard were typing wrong. Turns out, we were trying to type.Never had an issue. Maybe everyone who had problems was simply typing wrong...

If you're hoping for Apple to fry and have to pay big money out of this then you don't know anything about blanket insurance. Every company has blanket insurance called Errors & Omissions which cover lawsuits. All companies have to be insured against lawsuits, so sorry to burst your bubble but even if the amount Apple is sued for is $10 million they won't be paying one red cent of it because their insurance covers that. It's too bad that this is going to be tedious for the plaintiff with insignificant payoff while any judgment would be nothing for Apple.
Apple is not going to give everyone who bought a MacBook in a 4 year span $400.I wouldn't be surprised if Apple ends up offering a $400 settlement per defective MacBook with the butterfly keyboard in the form of a voucher towards buying a new M1/M1X based MacBook model with the scissors-switch keyboard. It may sound far-fetched (I'm sure most here agree), but it's a great way to get users to upgrade to the latest Mac technology.
The butterfly keyboard started with the 12” fanless MacBook. Who’s idea was that product? And why did Apple choose to expand the keyboard to the entire product line? One person doesn’t make that decision. Phil Schiller had no problem getting up on stage and happily introducing laptops with the BF keyboard. The company tried something and it didn’t work. The problem is it took way to long reverse course. I pin that on Tim Cook.Good. It was a horrible design, the product of Ive's ego, universally derided and failed left and right when air got stuck under the keys all for the sake of making it .00000034" thinner.
The added insult to all of this was Apple (as usual) claiming that a "small minority" of people were affected and forced users to replace it at cost until they could no longer say it was "user error" and had to eat the cost themselves.
I hope treble damages are awarded to the plaintiffs.
Some of us just moved on entirely. Bought a $2300 Thinkpad and never looked back. The butterfly keyboards put me off buying a MacBook Pro for years. I’m glad I never took the risk. I am looking forward to the next releases as I am now long overdue an upgrade!
What’s wrong lawyers getting paid - do you get paid for your job? Why? If the design fails 5% instead of a normal .1% then 95% of the repairs will be successful. Some unlucky people will have repeat failures. And I bet the butterfly keyboard failure rate was less than 5%.
