I would rather have 13" MBP + 24" ACD then a 17" MBP so that that i have both the portability when I do need it and at home, i just hook it up to ACD to turn it into a virtual desktop.
Same here. I plan on getting the refurb LED along with the 13" MBP very soon.

Sorry here, I don't mean to come across to the OP as a "meanie" but you knew what you were buying. A 13" screen is a 13" screen. I mean, didn't you at least ever see one in person even before this model? You sound like you've never seen a 13" screen before. :p

:D I didn't actually buy the 13-inch MBP. Was just very seriously wanting to buy one.

What's the performance like with the 9400m?

Seriously, it's not at all noticeable in OS X. The 15-inch MBP I'm playing with just now has the 9400M and the 9600M GT. I switched between the two a few times just to make sure.

I bet if you were using a Pro App, you may notice and in Games, where the 9600M GT is about a third faster.

I agree with the OP.

I don't have a Mac, I'm on a 15" PC laptop and I think the size is perfect. 13" is too small and 17" is too big. I'm eyeing a Mac terribly but it HAS to be a 15 incher. I can't do 13".

I wish they didn't practically kill the regular Macbook line and released a 15" Macbook at, say, $1349 or something like that. Instead they lowered the price on the 15" Pros but went the wrong way, JMHO.

Of course, this is coming from the perspective of a college student so every dollar spent is precious.

Well, I have a loan 15-inch MBP and it is divine ;)

I have also had a brief look at the 17-inch MBP, it's simply beautiful - but not really very portable at all for my needs anyway.

Well, when I'm out and about, I want the 13" for portability and form factor. When I'm at home on my desk, I want the 15". So basically my solution was, the 13" MBP with a 24" Apple LED cinema display. Problem solved. :D

The Cost of Replacing Battery of New MBP

Did Apple mention anything about how and how much it cost to replace the battery? They should have, since the products were already on the market. Probably it will cost more than you can imagine so that Apple is holding off the official policy about this part (just like the iPod were first introduced), intentionally because, I can only imagine now, the price to replace the battery at Apple could be a dealbreaker factor. But, this is a notebook not a use-and-toss media player, we expect to use it more than one to three years, Apple should announce the battery replacing policy as soon as possible. Although Apple can claim how great the battery is and it will last for five years. In fact, Battery could die or become abnormal out of nowhere. Come on Apple, give us the fact.

The 15" makes more sense if you require more screen estate. Not so much if you are squinting at small fonts, since the resolution on the 13" is about the same as on the 15". You will be squinting at both.

Get a 22" or a 28" monitor (avoid 20" and 24") if your eyesight is below par.

That's interesting actually, because when I visited the Apple Auth. reseller I initially loved the 13-inch MBP but then I asked my trusted friend if I actually squinted at all while using the 13-inch MBP; he said yeah - squinting all the time. That's never a good sign (not for me anyway), squinting gives me headaches in the long run so I actually didn't have much choice but to go for the 15-inch.

Actually, got to say this - a bit off topic but the keyboards on these MBP's are the best I've ever typed on.

I was in the same dilemma as you were... I wanted the 13" before for the portability and seemed about right... But when i went to the store, I changed my mind and wanted a bigger screen and realized that the 15" is perfect. And although i won't be using the 9600GT anytime soon but it's good to know that i can use it when necessary.

Oh, does Expose make the screen bigger?
....

Love the sarcasm here.

For everyone else, it manages multiple windows by allowing you to jump from one to another much faster. There's also Spaces for OSX which gives you multiple screens all hidden and 1 click away. It's a hard concept for PC users to grasp but once I show anyone, it's like a light bulb. :p

For me it's either using 13" for browsing/emailing/tasks/last minute edits or jumping to 24" as pro apps with multiple panes are still kludgy on a 15".

What's everyone's experiences with the 13" screens vs. 15" screens?

I just imagine a 13" being too small because I'm so used to a 15". I find it amazing how many Mac users like the 13" screen. Why is that? Just wondering.

Your question is legit but is going to cause a flame war. Just be prepared.

Well, I guess the 13-inch is more portable and cheaper.

After spending a few hours with a loan 15-inch MBP and loving it, I then made the mistake of trying the 17-inch - great resolution, screen is to die for. Going to blow my budget on one of these I'm really sure. :)

I have both. I purchased the 15 inch for my personal laptop, but I needed another laptop for work and money was definitely an issue with the work one so I bought the Macbook. I honestly can't work on it except for the most easiest task, but my students love it and don't seem to have a problem with it. So it works out okay for what we use it for at school. But for my personal use, I will never buy smaller than the 15.

I'm in college and use the mbp 13" not because of the price but because of portability. It is much easier to lug around the 13" than a 15" with textbooks and the magsafe. Don't mention the Air because that thing is a waste of money for the specs.

I would get a 15" if I am not as mobile as I am walking all around campus. I do, however, have an iMac in my dorm room for other tasks, but it's my roomate's not mine haha

I'll start the war haha.

I just said the same thing in another thread!

Hows the performance with the 13" hooked up to an external display. For example a 22" or 24"?
