@Gbeer - so are you keeping it? If so, happily?
To be honest, don't have too much choice. Owned it for 6 weeks now. It should be fine for 4 years and if ARM is any good ill look to upgrade in 2 or 3 years. Hopefully they will give a reasonable trade in!

Got it. I bought from Costco, so I have 9 more weeks to decide.

my wife thinks it is unethical to return it for post purchase regret.

So I contacted the Apple specialists about this as i'm concerned a major update such as a change of chip and OS would make my new £2000 Mac worthless.
The day a new Mac with ARM processor is released, all the existing Intel Macs will instantly stop working, and they will be worthless. Do you believe that?

Of course not. You will have the exact same Mac as before, which will work exactly as it does now, and will continue to work for a long time. Whatever you buy, there will be a newer, better model soon. If that is something that you cannot handle, that's something you need to work on.

Thanks @gnasher729, you are quite right. I need to work on how I handle this stuff.
@bdart2 do you think you will keep it? To be honest, to get an ARM just right I expect it will be a couple of years.

Assuming they have a no-questions asked return policy and you're not lying about it, I don't see how anyone could call that unethical.

I agree. A nice return policy gives a store a competitive advantage over other stores by attracting more customers, generating more sales and increasing customer loyalty. Since they benefit from it and offer it to induce your business, you should have no qualms about using it.

I guess the question should I be happy and enjoy my new computer or continue to second guess myself? I don't want to wait 2 years for a gen 2 arm MBP and I am enjoying the machine now quite a bit.

I have to assume that I will give 5-6 years of apple and 3rd party intel support.
