They should be a bit more durable...

That's actually an annoying aspect of aluminum. It is prone to denting, and it's not as much a part of the cooling system as some people think (although it does conduct heat). If they move away from aluminum at some point, a major reason would probably be resilience to dents or minor warping.

if you paid with visa, you get 90 days money back for anything, even if it's your fault.

well, I paid via bank transfer unfortunately.

I called Apple care today. The conversation was exactly 3 mins... gave my name, email, case id and the answer that they cant do anything if apple declined the warranty. I am wondering if there is any chance I can contact apple by mail and explain them the case. Not sure how willing the apple care in Bulgaria are to help... or just there is nothing that could be done...

If you don't want to spend 850 Euros, ebay has full top assemblies (including the retina display) for ~$580 (US dollars).

Replacing the top assembly is actually not very difficult - just make sure you buy the correct pentalobe screwdriver and be careful.

Well, there were exactly 20cm on a carpet. I am really surprised... They should be a bit more durable...
Any chance I can exchange it under warranty and not paying for that?

Unless you're going to an official Apple Store in the United States you're not going to get that replaced for free. Even in that case they'd be doing you a favor, as accidental damage isn't covered under warranty. The best bet is probably to buy a new screen and housing and have it replaced at an authorized reseller if you're not comfortable doing it yourself (the retina machines are very hard to repair). It sucks and is expensive, but maybe don't use your computer on your bed after you get it fixed. The same thing happened to me. I was working in my bed, girlfriend decided to jump in on other side, computer flew into the air and landed on a corner. I lived with the dent for a year or so as it didn't damage the screen.

Are you near an apple store? If so pay a visit to the Genius Bar. You'd be surprised what they are willing to do to help a customer.
That's true.

Thanks to the premium prices we pay for Apple products, Apple can easily afford to impress people by giving stuff away.

Just remember that the people that make it possible are all of us.

Apple simply take the credit, cause it makes them look good.

Can you ever just give a decent answer without all the extra drivel included? The OP didn't ask if Apple has enough money to replace it for free. Why does everything with you have to be so condescending towards Apple? Give it a rest. I understand promoting open discussion of differing ideas, and there's plenty of threads for that, but it's not really fitting in this situation. It adds nothing useful to this discussion, so please just give it a rest.
