Been interested in getting a unibody MBP Late 2008 15 inch model, however I am aware of certain Issue that plague the Nvidia 9400m and 9600m GPUs in this machine. The listing I am looking at says that the Macbook is in perfect working order. What do you think is the chance of the Nvidia GPUs developing any issues?

All computers have a 100% failure rate. The only unknown is when. If it helps, MBP GPUs were all a mess from 2008-2011

If you are buying a 7 year old laptop with a dGPU you are taking your chances, it's as simple as that, even if it was the most stable mobile dGPU setup of all time, at 7 years old its a matter of when not if.
