Where on the website does it say this?? I'm guessing it's the Australian website...
If it's 2mr or friday, I would be VERY happy :)

Is the expected price to go up? I'm new to this new "rev" stuff, but I was led on to believe they would just replace the old with the new and keep the same price line.

Before mac rumors, I've never been so attached to finding out when the new macs are coming out.

No one knows anything. It's all speculation. You'd be just as accurate putting dates and prices on a dart board.

I hate to burst your bubble, but the web site has said that since the last revision in 2009. It still does, and there's been no update.

It would be odd, though, to throw that poster up now for no reason. I got the impression that the poster hadn't been there before.

Indeed. Check this picture. It says: "The new Macbook-Pro Family"

...and they ain't talkin' 'bout the upcoming models -.-

What would be odder (back me up, someone) would be an Apple Store positing a "New Product" poster before the product had been refreshed. Apple keeps such a tight lid on such things that the salespeople, even the managers, don't know the whens until the very last minute.

Thanks for the screenshot, too, but that's what I was referring to... That's been there since they released the "new" MBP family in 2009. And, again, Apple would never post "The New MBP Family" on the web site unless the product had been announced. Scroll down, everything else shows exactly the same stats as before (processors, etc.) Unfortunately, as much as I'd wish it were otherwise, nothing new about the MBPs... Yet.

behaviour of retailers

However secretive Apple is about imminent updates, they are a profit making company dealing with many stakeholders, including retailers. When an update is around the corner, I'm sure, although retailers aren't told outright, they will have hints- eg orders being delayed/reduced etc. and thus take measures-like getting rid of old models (Retailers will also be told by Apple to keep mum abt any such issues with customers, or else...)

Machines, an Apple retailer is Malaysia are offering free 500GB external Hard drives with 13" and 15" MBPs purchased. They did not offer any such promotions during the Chinese new year (which is big in Asia) in February. I wonder if Apple retailers in other countries are showing such signs because these are better clues rather than photoshopped ads on sites.

Long wait

we're at 9 months, is this the longest wait for a new macbook pro model yet?

MacBook Pro alone: Yes
MacBook Pro + PowerBook combined: No

However, when the PowerBook wasn't updated for such a long time, there simply weren't no suitable new chips available from IBM, so the situation was quite different compared to now.

Omg

My god...I'm so sick of waiting...im telling you guys, I'm completley dried out here

I want that Macbook Pro SOOOOO ****ING BADLY!!!!

If I got to tell Steve Jobs ONE thing...just ONE thing...the only thing I'd say would be: "STOP ****ING AROUND YOU ****!"

Yeah, good points. I guess the Store staff would have to be briefed on any new product to be prepared to sell it. That could happen in the time between the announcement and actual release (even if, say, we hear about new MBPs on Tuesday next it'll probably be, "Here's the stats, they're awesome... Available for order in about two months."). Or it could happen before the release so they can talk them up in the store even before they show up.

Still, though, they're not going to hang up a poster ahead of time. Talk about some serious firings, Apple would not be pleased. :)

Has Apple ever updated a line just via the web site, no press release? That would be cool, just wondering what the odds are of stopping by the online store in a couple of hours and seeing the iPad AND new MBPS/or Mac Pros.

I think the current iMac was just posted on the homepage of apple
