QuiBids-no MBP?

I just noticed that there is no MBP bidding in Quibids next 12 hours..I am not the expert of Quibids, but I could usually see at least one MBP ongoing bidding..

Does this simply mean that Quibids no longer deal with MBP, or......?

Every tiny little thing draws my attention... I hate this game...

revised- I was wrong I just saw one...

I am so sick of Apple and their delays. All they are doing is pissing off customers like myself with their stupid antics.

Last year was my last for Apple products. This year I am venturing to Google.
Good riddance :apple:

If you can switch from Apple to Google for your computing needs you probably never used a Mac for much anyway.

What I don't get is people referring to the waitforan update as "Apple playing games," and getting mad at the company. Like we have a right to a new version of this or that every X days. The info on this site is just rumors after all. Apple has no compulsion to be on their schedule or ours!

It's kind of that way though, Apple would be nowhere without it's customers, long-time or new. Apple owes its enthusiasts something, maybe not a calendar or a release date, but at least a valid hint that's not just pure speculation. In the past we've had this schedule, now we have nothing.

For the most part, yes. 99% of what I do on a laptop doesn't require ANY Apple specific software. And really thinking about it, there are Windows versions of everything I use, so there is absolutely nothing Apple specific except for iPhoto and iTunes that I will miss. However, I am wanting to move all my music and photos to the cloud anyway...

I'm not sure what you and other people are utilizing your Apple laptop for? I liked the convenience and ease of use. But those 2 things no longer justify being treated like garbage by Apple.

In addition to the usual itunes/web browsing/email like everyone else, I do a lot of work with Office '08 and occasionally iWork for research papers/presentations/etc. I also use Aperture 3 and Photoshop CS4 for photography. I also use an application called OsiriX for 3-D volume renderings of CT scan images, etc. to make 3-d reconstructions of vascular anatomy.

I guess if I wanted to spend the money I could switch to windows, but the idea of using Google anything for serious work is a non-starter.

Of course I don't consider a delay in updating the MBP being "treated like garbage" either. In fact, I've been nothing but happy in my dealings with Apple. Their product is their product, and you can take it or leave it--especially in your position because you don't seem to have much invested in the software side. The fact that a release was delayed doesn't mean they're treating anyone like crap.

When you know the industry like some of us do, you know it is nothing EXCEPT one big giant game. Look what happened to Apple's stock when announced the iPad release would be set back to Apr 4: It peaked at an ALL TIME HIGH. You think that was a coincidence or an accident? Apple is the 4th largest publicly traded company! $200B corporations don't make accidents that make them billions!!!

Apple ALWAYS has the next generation of every single product on the shelf ready for immediate release. They were working on the iPhone 4G before they even released the 3G. To even begin to think that it's not a game is MADNESS because there is NOTHING ELSE it could possibly be.There is not even a 1% chance that it isn't a game. You think they're going to release a new MacBook in the middle of the iPad's glory? WTF WOULD THEY DO THAT FOR?!

Alright, I do see where your points are coming from, but I still disagree with a good portion of your argument. First off, the iPad isn't a competitor with the MBP.... unless people were paying 1500 before in order to surf the web, which would blow my mind in all honesty. I do understand that they do 'mind game' the market, but I don't believe that this release date is evident of that. Maybe they were waiting for the new NVIDIA GPU, or maybe they are just taking their damn time because they can, and there is no need to rush perfection ;) :apple:

Alternative solution

I currently use a MacBookPro4,1 Intel Core 2 Duo 2,6 GHz 4 GB with 256 GB CORSAIR CMFSSD-256GBG2D.

It's pretty fast, but as I use it aprox. 80h/week (I'm a workaholic IT prof. and the MBP also has to do some standalone jobs at night) I would feel better to have a new one (and backup).

I'm waiting now for weeks for the release of new models and don't want to wait any longer.

I'm thinking of this alternative:

iMac 27 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 16GB (post installed by myself) with
1TB Serial ATA Drive at my office. For homework and business trips using my MBP with remote access to the iMac.

The open questions are:
- Will the iMac be slower as my current MBP because of the missing SSD? (I run 2-4 virtual PCs in Fusion).
- I know there are solutions to replace the SD with a SSD in iMac but I don't like this. Is there a possibility to use the SATA port of the SD for an external SDD?
- How would the working be using my MBP as remote terminal?

What do you think about that?
If the new MBP isn't released tomorrow I think to proceed.

Well...we'll all see tomorrow as it is one of "the big days" it may be released and I'm telling you: I don't know how much longer I can take this wait :(

How is Apple treating you like garbage? By not updating a product line that is absolutely fine for the vast majority of crap you'd do on a laptop, in order to appease a bunch of ****wit hardware whores that should probably be using a Wintendo anyways?

Here's the long and short of it; Apple is being the same Apple they've been for 30 years, and right now they aren't doing exactly what a niche few think they should, and those few are stomping their feet and throwing a tantrum. Threatening to up and switch platforms because the same-architecture hardware refresh isn't occurring in the time frame in which they deem appropriate simply proves that they don't do anything important.

Grow up. Go buy that POS Dell or HP, and be done with it. Just quit whining.

i don't think its gonna happen tmr. the ipad's date is out. i'm pretty sure apple doesn't want the new mbps to take up the front page 4 weeks before ipad launch then take it down again? im guessing right now, its mid april...

but I agree...mid april could be logical....:(

I've had my MacBook for 4 years now and am sooooo ready for an upgrade to the Pro. I'd buy it right now if it were on the market -- a new iPhone, too, but I won't be greedy so just he MBP for now.

I'm new to this website, so can someone tell me what's so special about tomorrow? I hadn't heard about any special Apple events so was just curious why people are hoping to hear about the new release then.

Tuesday is usually the day that updates (if any) to existing lines are made on Apple's website and store.

Give it up

If you need a Macbook Pro, then just buy the stupid thing. Everyone holding on to their seat for the latest & greatest is silly. Usually the updates are so minor that the wait is not worth it. I just bought a macbook pro last week and am happily using it while all you are scanning best buy screen shots and looking at photoshopped pics or listening to rumors from people who have no clue. Silly rabbits.

The difference being that he has a computer that he's happy with at a price that worked for him, and you don't. And you're waiting for a speed increase that you probably won't notice in real world use, but you'll swear you can tell the difference just to impress your friends.

I mean, I'm waiting too, but I've given up on thinking it's not pathetic.

thats very irrisponsible advice. the current MBPs are dated in tech and disgustingly overpriced.

Enough with the hyperbole. This opinion is exactly that--an opinion. Believe it or not there are people who just want to buy and use a computer that works without waiting around like a tool, only to be disappointed when the upgrade doesn't live up to the hype.

Or they could be waiting to buy the old model for a lower price. Believe it or not, there are some people who want to save money, rather than paying the premium now for outdated technology like a tool :D

I was wondering where a good place or site to buy the old mbp model would be when the newer model gets released?
