One thing I have noticed from the spreadsheet is that most if not all of the 3-4 weekers who have moved to 'Preparing for Shipment' live outside of the US. Makes me jealous of all you guys right now, getting yours shipped nearly 3 weeks in advance. Mine is scheduled for July 13-19 and I'm sitting here pulling my hair out everyday. I'm refreshing this thread a hundred times everyday, not to mention the Apple store order page, hoping for some kind of magical change that I know will not happen till the end of this week at the earliest.

First world problems...

Yep, either be outside US/Can (ours our listed as US builds) or be a GOV order and looks like you get pushed up a fair bit.

How can it be possible that people who ordered 5 days after me and had 3-4 week estimate, when I had a 2-3 are getting their orders shipped, when they are exactly the same config and location as me and mine is still "Processing"?!?!?!?

It's quite possible it's a batch with a different keyboard layout (different languages, countries, etc)

Why would people buy the 768gb version anyway? It cost a whopping $1100.

Might as well buy the base version, save the $1000, sell the base version for like $1000 next year and get the 512gb base version next year for the same price. Rinse and repeat. You are probably making a profit too on top of having a better CPU, newer features etc.

Its a waste of money in my opinion

Well, there are good reasons:
- I work on a code base that takes up something like 50 gigs on disk. I often have more than one installation, and the data files are also large. I like to work both at home and in the office, so external storage is a pain.
- I run bootcamp, which requires a partition big enough to install software on.

If that's not reason enough, try this on: I'm buying the computer with money from a scientific research grant. This money must be all spent by August; I am not permitted to save it. There is no guarantee I will get more money in future. I'm not permitted to sell the laptop to get funds back.

So, the best solution for me is to buy the most upgraded-model there is. 16 GB, 768 SSD, 2.7 GHz processor, and hope that these specs give the computer lots of longevity; it's likely to be 4 years before I can get it replace.

In summary: your "opinion" shows that you have very little respect for the wisdom of others. Rather than ask why I was ordering it, you assumed it was 'stupid'. Think next time.

I understand your pain since the same is happening to me. I just have to keep telling myself that one more day wait will not be the end of the world. Though even as I say that I keep hitting the refresh button on the status page. :)

Lol doctored!

2-3 week order 2.3/16/256 delivered

My RMBP was just delivered!
The fastest "standard shipping" I've ever seen :D and one week earlier than Apple's best original estimate.

I ordered on 6/11 within the first half hour of the 2-3 week window.
2.3/16/256 BTO, standard shipping
Original estimate: July 2 - 9th
Estimated FedEx delivery: June 27 by 10:30am.
Actual FedEx delivery: June 25, 9:40am.

I updated the spreadsheet. (I attached the most recent tracking info, though the delivery update hasn't happened yet).

Is it true that there are no status updates when it is nighttime in China? Anxiously refreshing.... :(

Spreadsheet Observation

Should the next big batch be the 7/2 to 7/9 delivery dates?

Looks that way.

:D

Did your Apple status update while all this was happening?

Ordered mine on the 12th around 12:30 pm EST. which is still processing, and I'm slowly dying from anticipation haha.

I have been chosen! My order has just in the last few minutes gone to "Preparing for shipment".

Ordered 13 June, 5am GMT (6am BST)
Original ETA 12-18 July
2.7/16/512

Exciting times and hopefully this will give other 3-4 weekers hope for an early delivery!

768 SSD BTO's

I ordered on the evening of 6/11 (2.6/16/768). I'm a 2-3 weeker, with dates of 6/29-7/6. Sadly....I'm guessing that those of us with the 768 SSD configuration will be on the late end of that estimate. From the spreadsheet, and reading the forum, it doesn't sound like any of the 768 BTO's have started shipping yet. Plus, the weird thing is that when I started to order on 6/11 right after the store re-opened, it quoted me a 3-5 week wait when I added the 768 option. Seeing the delay, I abandoned the order. However, when I went back onto the store later that night and added the 768 option, it then quoted me only 2-3 weeks (so I went ahead and placed the order then).

That initial 3-5 week delay quote makes me think that all of us with the 768 BTO's will be on the late end of the 2-3 week quote (3 weeks), which ironically would also align to the early end of the initial 3-5 week quote. Hopefully I'm wrong though, and we start seeing some 768's ship this week!

I reordered yesterday, I'm screwed. I'm just hoping I can find a reseller on ebay with the same specs, and without a insane markup.

My machine is on the same flight with yours. :)

Just got shipment notification at 5am for my 2.3/16/256, ordered on 6/11 at 9:20pm EST. I'm in the 2-3 week group, original expected delivery June 29-July 6, now Apple says June 28, FedEx says June 27 by 10:30am. Left Shanghai at 2:54PM Shanghai time. Now to figure out what flight it's on!

Updating spreadsheet now.

I'd imagine we'regonna see a lot of changes today.

+1. My next purchase will be a Synology DiskStation DS411 and a few 3TB drives :)
