Finally got to play with my retina. Before I even booted into the OS, i booted into a Mountain Lion image I made on my external ready to go with all my stuff from my old mac and new stuff I added like vm's and stuff. Im an IT guy so i need it for work and for home. Tinkering and testing, etc.

I opened it up, boot it up, fantastic machine. But, after booting off the external, put in the command, guess what? ****ING LG SCREEN. Apple looks clean and clear white, screen looks better then almost any defective LG screen i've seen. Im doing a IR / Burn in test right now, ill see how it goes. Im gonna do a 10, 20 and 30 minute test. I saw 2 out of 6 in a local apple store with LG screens, only 1 had REALLY bad IR, the other one was a champ. Didnt see anything. Ran it for 10 then 20. After 20 I could start reading the apple start page on the screen, the good LG was comparable to a samsung screen right next to it and clean as a whistle.

Im contemplating keeping mine if its a GOOD LG if it doesnt fail these test tonight. Also, im contemplating keeping it because I just realized with all the VM's i run, especially my bootcamp windows 100gb partition, then my 20gb windows 8 partition that will be virtual only, bootcamp ill virtualize and cold boot every now and then, but virtualize most of the time. Linux vm's that will be for testing distro's server and client.

So im now thinking if I should of gotten 768. If I would of gotten 768 at that point i would of gotten the fully loaded machine.

Also contemplating it because if the screen fails this test, this things going in tomorrow morning to my local apple store and im going to just upgrade to the maxed out one. the extra money is only worth it because if that one also has a lg screen, i can swap it out till I get a samsung screen. At this point ill choose getting a samsung screen over getting mountain lion pre installed.

Oh and this one did come with ML pre installed, so im hoping apple fixed the issue with the LG screens, we will see.

I hope everyone receiving their computers today and tomorrow can comment in on what screen they got and how they like it. So far I love this god damn thing and all it's doing is sitting at the apple start page.

It's FINALLY here!! After ordering 14 days ago my MacBook Pro with Retina Display arrived an hour ago!!!

Departure Shanghai Pudong Int'l (ZSPD / PVG) on Mon 11:36PM CST
Arrivial Memphis Intl (KMEM) on Mon 11:49PM CDT

I'm pretty sure I'm on this flight since even though my Fedex page wasn't updated, I called this afternoon to request Fedex to hold it so I would pick it up instead of it being handled by my college's mailroom and when I asked when they would expect it would arrive, they told me mine was already on the plane and would most likely be ready by Wednesday, latest Thursday which is 2-3 days earlier than the Apple estimate :D

Seems like the norm because apple is estimating on "normal" delivery times + shipping times. If they ship earlier and since fedex is getting paid MILLIONS to deliver the stuff, gets it too you earlier then you like, not only will you like / love fedex, but apple is also loved because of shipping it out earlier then possible. Im glad they still have the 5-7 instead of 1-3 because as they are starting to ship some faster then others, its not consistent yet and i would rather have mine be early then late. Early makes you feel postive, late pisses you the **** off lol

Thank you :D. When did you get yours, how long have you had and do you plan on taking it in or does it work fine for you?

The whole Standard vs Expedited shipping having no difference is no longer true. This is my second rMBP, and the first one with standard shipping arrived within 4 days. Now with standard, it has taken 5 days to get from China to Japan...and I'm in the US.

Same thing..i guess we might be on same shipment?

My RMBP was picked up my fedex on the 17th..just got to japan now. Supposed to deliver by tomorrow at 430pm EST

Ordered: 8/12
Processed for shipment: 8/18
Shipped: 8/20
Apple eta: 8/23-8/27
FedEx eta: 8/22
Delivered: 8/21 10am (S.F.)

Shipped via 2-3 day expedited shipping. Free upgrade! So expedited shipping is well worth it :)

A day early! (two days earlier than Apple predicted) Going to a job interview ATM so I won't be able to open it till later :(

One thing to consider is that China is one day ahead of us. So the actual shipment date is based on their date while the delivery date is based on the destination's.

Just an update: LSN154YL01001! Yes! I can get some sleep now. j/k

No dings, scratches. I will not even bother to test the image retention, maybe the display bleeding though.

So I was completely wrong about which flight I was on . I guess expedited shipping goes from Shanghai --> Memphis while regular shipping goes from Shanghai --> Anchorage --> Memphis or Newark or somewhere else closer to the final location. I'm in Massachusetts and based on others, it seems like mine will be going from Anchorage to Newark sometime tomorrow and then driving up to me either late tomorrow or early Thursday

Standard Delivery to Toronto

Just received my rMBP. Shipping took 1 week. As you can see, package spent a lot of time sitting around and was ultimately trucked from Kentucky to Toronto. No complaints, but if I do this again, I will opt for Expedited shipping.

Mine was a day behind yours. It was trucked all the way to Halifax from Kentucky! UPS truly sucks compared to FEDEX in this regard.

Yes! I was starting to wonder what the delivery cutoff is.

Ordered 8/8 shipped 8/14 on it's way to Finland

Still no tracking info, even in exp.o. Frustrating :D

I guess the reason I have no tracking info is that my rmbp is going to merge with gift card...

Got mine finally (2.6/16/256). I have LG panel and it looks great, pure whites and no bleeding or ghosting. Very impressive machine!

Just got mine today as well. Unfortunately, I immediately noticed that the top of the screen had a red tint and the bottom had a yellow tint and it ran all the way down the screen, enough so that I will probably return it . Haven't had a chance to play with it much and won't until later. Didn't check my panel yet because I'm planning on doing the IR test and I don't want to be biased so I'll check after the IR test.

Edit: Just also realized that there are 2 dead pixels in the bottom left hand corner. This thing is definitely getting replaced

Edit 2: 2 more dead pixels in the bottom right hand corner as well and a good amount of backlight bleeding in the top left corner :( why apple? why???

Edit 3: IR test showed definite IR after about 15 minutes. I'm gonna go ahead and guess this is an LG screen. Not even gonna bother with the terminal command thing
