so jealous of all you who have had it shipped and close by or received it already... i hate this wait...

damn my 2-3 weeks, im glad i didnt wait till the 12th like i thought about, hoping it ships tomorrow or thursday... (any opinions on that?)

I check the order status page every 2-3 hours and even more when im not working...

Anyone who's macbooks have been on my plane from Shanghai to Memphis for the past 13 hours...IT LANDED!
My status has been updated to "International shipment release
MEMPHIS, TN"
I hope I get it tomorrow!

Thanks for the update!!! Definitely on the same plane. Now I don't think I'll get mine early tomorrow since I'm in CA. Looks like I'll probably get it when fedEx estimated Thursday.

I want to get it tomorrow sooooo badly. I have to be at O'Hare by 2ish so if Fedex pulls through and gets it to me before noon I'll be over the moon.

I'm in the 2-3 week group, but I'm hoping you don't mind posting a screenshot of the final fedex tracking page once it's delivered tomorrow. Just curious to see what to expect in terms of checkpoint scan timings as I am from the north chicago suburbs.

Actually, if we're lucky, it MAY ship overnight. At least to Chicago.
This seems to suggest so:

I wonder if our macbooks will board that plane and head over here!!! I'd be thrilled!!!!!

P.S. There are also an abundance of flights to CA! I would check that website to see if any could be coming your way!

Whoah...I'm shipping mine to Lindenhurst! Luckily, I'll have it by Thursday :)

It's my first mac, but I was going to buy the best new macbook pro this year whether they made it retina or not.

Geez, how old is everyone here? This is my fourth Mac. My first was a Performa. Anyone remember that?

WEeeelll technically my very first computer was the original imac with OS9 lol but I used that in like grade school until I got my own Dell Desktop. I've been using a Dell XPS Laptop for the past 4 years and I finally got the macbook i've wanted, completing my cyclic return to apple.

Why is that?

The most of them ordered them just for testing purpose and don't like them or stick to an MBA. Also there are people which don't like the display for there kind of work or something like that. Just look around in the forum and watch those threads where people complaining, there are at least some which will send there models back.
And as far as I know apple just get those models in a new sealed package and sells them as 'new'.

Not really a question of age, rather the features that are sufficient do their work for a given cost.

My first computer was a Compaq Presario desktop in 1997, followed by Compaq, Toshiba, and HP laptops (last one is what I am using right now) in 3-4 year life cycles. Never had a real reason to consider a macbook because it was simply too expensive for my needs during my grade school and undergrad. Right now, as a grad student, I am finding that there is a high premium for reliability, portability, battery life, and longevity that will allow me to study and work in peace. With those expectations, the MBP suddenly doesn't seem as expensive anymore and is the only guaranteed choice that will offer all of that. So that pretty much sums why rMBP is my first mac.

Its not that I'm young, is that something like a mac desktop is... well... something I won't touch. Ever. Seriously I wouldn't do that, I need to be able to replace parts, upgrade, change out cases, what not. Been doing that for a while, and will continue to do so. Windows is also an excellent operating system.

But, what I look for in a laptop is not what I look for in a desktop. Not even close. I don't look to do gaming on a laptop or to do things that require a super powerful CPU and GPU. The RMBP just fits what I was looking for in a laptop, so I got it. Its not bulky, its not heavy, and it doesn't look like its made of cheap plastic.

Checking your order every 5 days will stop driving you crazy and making you more claim down. Just let it go. You all will get what you ordered. Think that your good day is about coming so soon and you will be so happy.

Retina Macbook Pro

Ordered on Jun 11, 2012. - Right after the keynote.
Invoiced on Jun 13, 2012. - Pretty quick.
Delivered on Jun 29, 2012. - Was scheduled for delivery on the 18'th.

UPS tracking was more accurate though.

I don't think that is the case. Maybe some retailer might do that but not Apple. They will be sent back, checked over, case gets changed, tested and then repackaged and sold as refurbished models on their website. Can you imagine how annoyed buyer would be, if their $3,000 laptop arrived with finger prints on the screen and plastic wrapper pre-opened?

Yeah obviously they clean them and repack them, but I have read a number of times in the past that people hat batteries with 10 or more load cycles. Which for me indicates that the Mac was in use before. Also this machines often had dead pixels or such things.
I don't know if they test them.
The only question is where will they be sent back? Back to Shanghai? This would be a nightmare.

At least I would be very cross :D

Trying to remember. Does Apple send an email when your order status changes from Processing to Getting Ready to Ship ( or Shipped ) ?

What do you think of my order?
The status was changed today to "Out for delivery". Does that mean in Amsterdam or in Sweden (where I live).

Since I will get a gift card of 100$ I guess this will be merged at some location. Could this be were it's heading too?

I'm a little confused here and would be happy if anyone could give me some directions what's going on.

Thanx! :)

Yes, your order will be merged there.
Mine arrived yesterday in Prag (merge location for me) around 3pm. Apple updated my status to "Delivery scheduled by final carrier, see estimated delivery date" around 11pm(ish) but no tracking info yet.
I've heared from others that it takes about a day to receive the tracking info from that point on, and after that it takes another 2 days to arrive.
Hope this helps ;)
