My base model with 16GB won't be delivered until May 18-20. But some lucky people will get theirs sooner, so please post your config and personal impressions. I am particularly interested in the real-world performance of the 10th Gen i5 so let us know!

Kind of strange that we do not have any reviews yet from the usual YouTubers.

Why would we? It is expected to be delivered only 7-15 days after release, somewhere next week. Because most of the youtubers opted in $1799 which has longer delivery time. And i guess none of them went with the base in the first place. But base ships faster.

Got mine today base model in Australia. Haven’t used it much but love the keyboard even though I’ve had the butterfly keyboard on my 12 inch since 2015 without issue. The new one is much nicer to type on.

Also haven’t heard the fan fire up yet, so that makes me happy, it seems the 8th gen runs cooler than the 10th gen in the air. So coming from a 12 inch 2015 it’s a major upgrade to me.

Mine has also been silent, No heavy testing so far but general use, setting up not heard a thing.

The YouTubers would've had these machines for a couple of weeks now.

Reviews should drop any day now. ??

Although presumably not as fast as the SSD’s in the higher-spec’d models, this is actually a fair bit better than last year’s base model, as reported by AppleInsider:

“Moving on to BlackMagic's Disk Speed Test, the $1299 base model 13-inch MacBook Pro tops out at around 495MB/s for its write speeds and around 1350MB/s for its read speeds.”

I am referring to review units that will be issued to them even before announcement.

The interesting part will be when reviews of performance, temp and fan noice will be reviewed. And especially a comparison to the 2020 MBA and the 2019 MBP 13. Not that interesting to hear that the keyboard is better since that's a nobrainer.

I am interested in thermals once it is hooked to an external monitor. Many reports of heat issues on the 16 when attached to external monitor. I would like the price point and size of the 13 over the 16. But 13 will have to work well with external monitor. Need the screen real estate to be able to work from home.

From that graph, what I get is that the base MBP is almost as fast as the High End one?

There have not been many benchmarks of the 2.3 BTO option so it may be a fluke - there are many however for the 2.0. The main thing to note is that the new base 2.0 GHz is faster then the previous BTO 2.8

I wonder if that's because they are the same processor etc. as the 2019 base models. Seems that only the keyboard has changed in the base models.

It is a fair point. Almost redundant if it’s identical and theoretically it should be but always worth doing a new Geekbench just in case!
