Actually that's not the kit I got - I bought the DDR3 1066 memory kit, because it matches the factory-placed specs. Heads up - some folks have reported mixed results running 1333 memory in current-gen MBPs, so be aware of that when you make your order.

Honestly, I'd just stick with the factory spec of 1066 if I were you, but do what you think is best.

Good luck!

I didn't really pay attention to 1333 vs 1066, but the G.Skill is out of stock now anyways. Maybe I'll just go with the crucial 8gb ram kit. Is this a good deal?

Can you link to the kit you bought? There are two on Newegg. One says it's for apple and the other doesn't. But people seem to be using either or withou problem on here. Yet in the reviews some people say it didn't work with mac.

The "non-apple labeled one" is what most folks buy. It works just fine.

I bought the Crucial ram for $91 after the 10% off via the code.

Hmmm. There's quite a few reviews though saying it didn't work on their Mac. And G.Skill responded that they needed to but the Apple labeled kit. WhY do you make of that?

i'm using the non-apple ram and it works fine, it was also cheaper.

i have ran tests on the memory with windows, and seperate diagnostic tools, there is absolutely no problems, great purchase!

So far, so good, on my replacement OWC brand ram - look like the bad batch is out of circulation. Of course the Crucial and GSkill are much less expensive.

Glad to hear it. OWC must be kicking themselves over that bad run of RAM they were shipping out. I'm expecting my Crucial sticks from Newegg tomorrow. $91 shipped is hard to beat.

Too bad it's sold out now... I'll have to find another way of getting more RAM. :)

Got my Crucial sticks today. Was about to put them in, and damn this packaging really is insane. I got the inside plastic sleeves out, but getting the RAM out of them is precarious at best. Any tips for getting the RAM out safely? lol.

Scissors.

After a couple of weeks of use I'm RMA'ing my NuRAM. I've had several kernal panics, app crashes, general slowness, etc. I'm awaiting the RMA approval email right now, it hasn't quite been 48 hours but we're getting there....Hopefully the replacement RAM that they send me is now out of a quality batch and not this terrible run of RAM that we've all been experiencing.

Another update.... OWC RAM working fine, no kernel panics or crashes. Another run of Rember completed with no errors.

It did fail the test when i had apps open whilst running rember though.

Check out NewEgg - I think you'll be able to beat that price pretty easily.

*edit: It seems prices have climbed again, but here's a link to NewEgg for Crucial memory 8GB kit for $122 w/ free shipping. Might beat buying direct from Crucial if they charge for shipping.

**edit 2: It looks like the G.Skill kit I bought is available on NewEgg for $95 shipped. That's a pretty good deal.

Why would you buy the 8GB kit of Crucial?

They sell a 4GB single stick for $50 on newegg (exact same ram as the 8GB kit)... just buy 2 sticks and you're golden. $100. I used the 10% discount code....

Just installed my 8GB Crucial RAM yesterday that I purchased for $91... can't beat that deal. I really REALLY like OWC but it was still $118 + shipping.... crucial was $91 + FREE shipping.

CAN'T BEAT THAT!

I just put my crucial sticks in tonight. Haven't really done much with it yet but all looks fine. Thanks for pushing that deal on the crucial. I'm glad I was able to get in on that code.

^bah, I still hadn't pulled the trigger on 8gb RAM for my mid-2010 15" MBP i5 and was finally about to. Unfortunately, it's not available though. After everything I had read, crucial seemed the way to go

Edit: Just noticed the suggestion to buy two of the 4gb modules separately. Seems that could work, here's the link I believe:

Are there any newegg coupons I can put on?

It's still working for me very well, for a few weeks now.
