It would be great if Apple decided to diversify out of China and manufacture in other Asian countries along with being some manufacturing to the USA.

I’d feel a lot better knowing my purchases don’t support China.

Move your production out of China already. For God’s sake how much longer does Apple need to realize this kind of crap is gonna happen constantly in the future in this big brother country. Labour costs saved have been completely destroyed by bad business. Get real !
That needs to happen to an extent but it won't be an overnight process.

The problem is Chinese vaccines are ineffective as is evident by the lockdowns, why even bother vaccinating the population if you’re gonna lock them down either way…
The pfizer vaccines have 12% efficacy for the first seven days, then it drops to below 1% effective. Which is to say, that ours are no better. Their own words, in their own documents, that they tried hiding for 75 years.

Hell, the FDA essentially just told people to not take the J&J vaccine because of the blood clotting issues. You've got to be absolutely kidding me if you think what they gave us is much better than what they gave them.

Every time I see this photo of the MacBook, I have to squint to make sure it’s not a ugly Dell laptop, like really, it makes the MacBook look bad.

Ordered my 16” MBP on February 18th and kept getting pushed out from there. I was suppose to get a delivery in late June early July, but today I got a text saying it will be delivered May 23rd. Hopefully those who have been waiting months will get their Macs before summer.

I was heavily on the fence for CTO 14" but instead pulled the trigger on a base 16" config at Costco. For those who don't need CTO, there's still a good amount of stock in other retailers. Apple near me only seems to have the base 13" and 14" configs, in addition to Airs and base iMacs.
I’m thinking of buying a second 16 inch and just keeping it unopened. That way if my current one breaks down I’ll have a machine without waiting 6 months.

Against hospitalization and severe disease the effectiveness was considerably high (around 90%), which you can see by how even with spikes and high number of infected people the hospitalization and deaths dropped substantially, which was the point.

The Chinese vaccines faired significantly worse in all metrics, which might be the reason they kept resorting to full lockdown measures even to this day, when people in the rest of the world are even dropping the face masks.

75 years? You are claiming that Pfizer had hidden the truth about the effectiveness of their COVID vaccine since 1947? Did they travel back in a time machine or did the Roswell aliens bring it to Earth?

No that's 75 years going forward not backward. And specifically it was the FDA that wanted to withhold the documents.

It's more serious than you think.

This is why your orders are delayed, the workers are rioting or trying to escape:

I feel so bad for these people. It’s shocking what is happening there they are like prisoners.

To be fair, this is what happens when almost all of your manufacturers are in one country... I guess the money they are saving in slave labor isn’t working out at the moment.
This is a actually a great point, missed by most people here.

How much money is this costing Apple - a few billion dollars?

If they had of chosen to build the laptops using humane factories in non-totalitarian dictatorships, would it have worked out cheaper in the long run?

People smarter than you or me, who have information we're not privy to have already done the math. The answer must be yes because they've gone ahead and done it.

Been waiting for my MBP for 7 months. Apple downplaying it without even checking my order and it is out of their power. telling me to cancel my current one and buy it somewhere else.

Guess I will cancel and wait for M2 Max or just go back to Wintel. My first MBP after 15 years of withholding because all of the gates they introduced with the preMBPS. F this S.
The new MBP was released less than 7 months ago. What exactly did you order?

For a potential propaganda purpose saying how high the vaccination rate is…until the vaccines are obviously ineffective and high Party members are skipping the domestic vaccine for the evil western import

They cannot just pick up and move operations somewhere else. The expertise in building these products happens to be concentrated in specific areas of China. Why is there only one Silicon Valley? For the same reason. Sure, you will find pockets that can try to replicate the diversity of talent in these areas, but not at the scale that Apple needs.

The rest of the world couldn't care less about the American economy and already pay far more than US based customers for the same product. If you want to support the American economy then just spent more in your local stores where small businesses are struggling.
Apple is based in the US and is an American company, so why wouldn’t Americans want production here? ?

If you aren’t willing to wait for a custom config, I would consider picking up a base model. I don’t anticipate an update to the 14/16” MBP until end of 2023 at the earliest.

The judge did in fact order these declassified at an advanced rate. We’ve now learned that Pfizer and the FDA knew that the pfizer mrna vaccine didn’t work, but they still recommended everyone to take it as a symbolic gesture.

Funny how the redditor class stopped saying “correlation != causation” around the same time. 😂

I ordered a full spec out 16 MBP on 3/17 and was suppose to be to me no later than 4/25. It now has shifted to between 6/8 and 6/23. 3 month plus delay.

It will be years but the U.S. and Europe are finally waking up and realizing they need to increase chip production to equalize things. Intel, TSMC, & Texas Instruments are all building massive chip plants in the U.S. in the next few years and we're still working to get the CHIPS Act passed. Europe I know has a CHIPS Act of their own.

The great Chip shortage is just yet another example of how it takes a complete disaster and meltdown before people finally wake up. Often times it's too little too late for near term results.

In three years the CHIPS act will be the complete disaster. There is so much production capacity on the way that Intel and TSMC will be forced to slash prices just to get business. This is what always happens in cyclical industries like semiconductors, it takes so long to get capacity online that they always undershoot or overshoot actual demand.

Chinese production has been a godsend for chinese workers, giving them higher paying safer alternatives to the brutal work and poor safety of chinese rural farm jobs. And it's been great for US tech companies, allowing them to sell more product at more affordable prices. This is exactly how free trade benefits both parties and raises everyones standard of living.

The riots that are happening today aren't because of Apple. They are because of the CCP and it's dumb COVID policies that requiring workers to live at factories for weeks or months on end.
