I am so upset because the trackpad on my gorgeous new 15" unibody MacBook Pro is cracked! I was iChating in my bed and a picture frame fell off the shelf from above me and onto the trackpad! The glass cracks much easier than I thought! The machine is still under warranty (30 days) so I'm hoping Apple will fix it when I take it in this week! Unibody MacBook owners beware-- the trackpad is most definitely glass and cracks easily!

Unless that was an apple picture frame and fell within distance tolerances as covered in your apple care, I think you out of luck...

Bad luck really, but come on, you cannot be serious about apple replacing it cause it broke after it was hit by a picture frame. Its like someone hitting your car from behind and asking toyota to replace the damaged parts, Warranty and insurance two different things.

It may not be covered under warranty but I'd be a bit surprised and disappointed if they didn't fix it for you anyway. For example, my sister just recently spilled orange juice all over her Dell's keyboard and the tech, who could undoubtedly see the orange juice, replaced it anyway. She didn't have an accidental damage plan or anything.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Mac, but it seems like they're being built nowadays just to look pretty with complete disregard for quality. I've seen much worse things than a falling picture frame happen to the aforementioned Dell and it's still working fine. I bet a 4 or 5 year old iBook would've survived it too.

Dell's warranty covers accidental damage, I believe.
With their crappy build plastic-y quality, I'd hope they do. :)

Apple never advertised the glass trackpads not to be able to crack. I mean seriously... It's glass. What glass can't crack like that?

Definitely not covered

My trackpad is cracked too. Although it looks nowhere near as bad as this guy's. Just a half inch semi-circle at the bottom of the pad. Took it in to the store, and nope, they will not replace it. I didn't drop it or drop something on it. If I want it fixed I have to fork over $600. I'd rather sell it and get a new one.
