Hello,
Yesterday I made an experiment.

I tried to put Core 2 Duo T7200 onto a MacBookPro1,1 820-1993 logic board in place of the original Core Duo T2500.

The result is successful! In the future maybe I will try to put a faster CPU like T7600. It's the fastest Merom CPU available and Penryn does not work with i945 chipset!

T7200 reballed with 0.76mm eutectic lead solder ball

Lion installed via PlatformSupport.plist deletion and modified OSInstall.mkpg

I made a short video about the process:

I am interested to try other upgrades sometime as well.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Kind Regards,
Josh

That is amazing. Great job. So, so cool that you were able to do that.

Thank you for sharing that with us and I hope you continue to do this great tinkering and share on the forum. :)

I used the very latest MacBook Pro with that design - I think it was early 2008? Really cool.

Thanks! Glad you liked it. I'll share if/when I do any more.

Actually I wanted to repair 2008 MBP with defective graphics card. Maybe sometime :D

Kind Regards,
Josh
