Hey guys,

In the wake of the whole speed upgrade and the change of est. U.S. shipping dates, I decided to log in and check my order status. On Jan. 11th at 8AM, I ordered a 1.67 GHz MacBook Pro CTO with a 100GB 5400 rpm hard drive... up until today my est. shipping date was Feb. 15 with an est. delivery of Feb. 23rd... now it is an est. shipping date Feb. 28 with an arrival of March 7th. :(
Hopefully this is just an over-estimate, and I will get it before this date.
Are you illiterate?

Just to throw yet another "I called Apple" post on here...

Called em up, and got through surprisingly fast (under 30 second wait). They said the ship date of the 28th was a boiler plate and that they hoped to ship my order (ordered 1.83 CTO, now 2.0) "not too much after" the 18th.

I guess we'll wait and see. Going to Europe on the 25th and it should would be nice to have this thing with me.

I Hate Apple Computer They Bumped My Order Back To The 28! And March 3 Arrival Date Is Not The 2 Day Shipping I Paid For I Dont Care Where It Is Coming From!!!

Interesting....I'll give them a call after work and tell them to shove the 160mhz and ship my machine asap :p

MBPRO 15/1.83 CTO
1GB 667 DDR2- 1 SO-DIMM
120GB Serial ATA Drive@5400rpm
SuperDrive (DVD±RW/CD-RW)
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600-256M
BkLit Keyboard/Mac OS
Airport Extreme Card&BT

Ship on or before 2-15, ordered Jan 18th.9:22am PST

Have a few hours left to talk myself out of the 2.16

$270 (edu price) is a lot for 160mhz.

Got the 1GB only because Apple was charging $270 for another 1GB, a real rip-off.

Mine just got bumped to 2-28-06 ship before. Still says 1.83

Calm down kid. ;)

I was just referring to my own personal situation, telling what my personal experience has been. No need to get heated just because your order hasn't shipped yet and you are currently computer-less... wait that's me.

Help me out here:

- Does the Dell config include 3 years of anti-virus software?

- Say I'm a college student. Then I will need XP Pro. Is that included?

- Say I do a wee bit of video editing. Then I should have a firewire port. Is that included? How about a nice little easy to use video editing program?

I guess my final question is "cheaper" for whom?

1) No, but does the MCP include 3 years of anti-virus software?

2) There is an option to upgrade to Windows XP Pro, but if I were a student, I would save that money and go buy it at the campus computer store for $10. The upgrade cost would still be cheaper overall than a MCP.

3) Yes, it does include a firewire 400 port. Since when were we comparing software packages now? I'll give you the point over the OS, but not video editing software.

I'm not a Dell fanboy, nor do I own any Dell products/stock. I'm just trying to prove the guy that posted the MPB vs. Dell M170 system comparison wrong. I'd rather have a T60 Core Duo ThinkPad before any Dull machine anyday.

does this mean.....

that the chance of Core Duo iBooks (macbok) is better. now there is more difference..... albeit a very small one.

Well, when someone who had a Feb. 15th ship date gets an order update email, let us know!

You said to let you know...well, My MBP 1.83 still says 1.83, and ship date is now Feb 28th. I ordered it Jan 12th (2 days after announcement, and 15 mins after I heard the announcement). When I called this morning, I was told I should expect an email 24-48 hours from this morning stating my MBP would be auto-upgraded to 2.0gHz and updated shipping info. To date, no email.

I am stoked about the speed boost, if its true, but I have been waiting now for a month. Also, since I updated my billing info on my last call, they already charge me for the damn MBP, so I am paying for what is essentially "vapor-ware". To top it off, I already recieved the cinema display, the BT keyboard, apple care box, and I even recieved the Crucial ram upgrade I ordered last Friday. Its all sitting here mocking me.

I will be happy as a clam when it comes in, but right now I am just dissapointed I now have to wait longer.

Just Received the Apple Email

Just recevied a "personal" email from Apple with the announcement.

The 1.67Ghz MacBook I ordered was upgraded to 1.83Ghz, but the email also says that the shipping date is pushed back from February 15th to teh 28th ish.

have upgraded your MacBook Pro from a 1.67 GHz processor to a 1.83 GHz processor at no additional cost! We anticipate shipping your order by February 28, 2006.

Two weeks is a long wait. I appreciate the upgrade, though. The email also seems to encourage (or at least offer) me to contact them for further upgrades. Then it says that it they don't hear from me by the 18th, they'll go ahead with the order. I haven't seen this sort of communication from Apple before.

mine was originally scheduled to shiip tomorrw, now it says the 28th.. thats 2 months of waiting, or almost an entire quarter!

Changed my order this morning because I'm tired of waiting. 2.16 ghz, ships by 2/17 will arrive by 2/23.

Actually, it is. Feb 28th is the last day of the month. 2-3 day shipping (which is how it is presented, it is NOT 2 day shipping) would lead to a March 3rd Arrival date if it shipped on the 28th. Have a nice day. ;)

How very nice of you to only be concerned about YOUR laptop shipping as if I along with others who ordered a 1.67 are all going to be very POed to know that other people will recieve their laptop first for some stupid reason.

Oh grow the hell up. If you can't be an adult about the situation go back to your playpen. Show me where in the last 10+ pages where I was bragging. I simply want to know WTF is going on.

And there we go. Just changed. 1.83Ghz. . . Feb 28th. . . We'll see if it updates in the next day or so. Really. I say this with all seriousness. Someone needs to be fired for gross incompetence.

Just as much a difference as there is now.

Current iBooks are 1.3 and 1.4, G4 powerbooks are 1.5 and 1.67. Why does the difference have to be that much bigger on the intel side?

As for all the freaking out over ship dates...just imagine how much faster they could ship boxes out if they weren't spending so much time on the phone with every last person who ordered one of these! (only partially kidding)

Obviously, Apple is sorting this all out and they don't know exact ship dates yet. For those not planning to change their order, is it really such a big deal to wait a day or so for them to update their web info?

I did the same thing by phone about 10AM this morning. The Apple rep said it would indeed ship 2/17. I cancelled my 1.67 and went with it. On some of the other boards people are saying that it can't be and all of us who got this 2/17 shipping will get an email tomorrow saying 3-4 week delay. I noticed that by this afternoon the 1-3 day option was gone but that could be due to the fact that all of the initial 2.16's were gone? Who knows. Just hope it ships on time.

From another one of our Apple board friends
I purchased the 1.83 on 1/18. Today my estimated shipment date was changed from 2/15 until 2/28 with a new estimated delivery date until 3/3.

I called Apple as I was expecting my shipment before leaving on business on the 20th.

I was told by Natasha that I should not be concerned about the change of shipment date on my order status. She indicated that because of the automatic upgrade to the 2.0 that the system automatically builds in additional lead time. These were her words.

I asked her to assure me that my delivery was tomorrow and she did. I told her that it was OK if not, I just needed to know for sure. Again, she assured me tomorrow. I told her that my card had not been charged yet and she said it would be tomorrow.

Time will tell. I choose to believe.

At this point it's easier to find out who shot JFK.

I'm going to guess that there was just a quick run on the 2.16 chips. Seems like there were more than a few people that made that switch.

..hmm still looks like my N-Mac

..I posted this on one of the Apple fan sites, a while back..that the Pro
Market IF/WHEN Apple entered it..might pay off big time. I pondered a
"$50,000 laptop" crammed with all kinds of goodies..optical chips..POWER6's..
whatever a pro networking person might want..and called it a:

NMac

.............................................................................................tada"

Larger screen..optical wireless..uses various Unixes..etc..etc (this was
when Darwin was first announced..and they were screaming at Motorola).

Well...maybe the Intel decision was a good one for Mr. Steve and Co.

IF/When they make an "Infiniband laptop" guess who will have lots of options.

If Steve can cram a POWER6 or Cell or Sun T2 or SGI multi-chip..or "various
IBM optical switching network chips" into a laptop..we will see whose pocketbooks
they are really marketing to.

Custom Apple Laptops..for professionals...hmm.

Can we get Avie one for now Steve?

I wonder what happened to guys like me who ordered MPB from Amazon...? I still have not received any update email from Amazon.. yet..
