Lol!:D This gave me the best laugh i've had all week. Thank you.

Surely this is only good news for all, you can't complain about that. My 20" dual Core iMac 2.0Ghz still seems pretty high up in the heirarchy, so I will enjoy it while I can. With the prospects of plenty of future processor updates in the Intel lineup, this means that Apple's range will be quite fluid over the next couple of years. I can't wait to see what comes out, both in the computers and in the Ipod.

The stock will probably increase on this news. Or maybe the delayed time will get more attention.

Are we talking not having the option to upgrade to 2.16GHz or are we saying that we will still be getting the 1.83GHz as the top of the range model?

Now I am not pessimistic about this and do not believe that Apple would not provide the upgrade in Europe, but just to make this clear I WILL cancel the order if they do that. Anyone else with me?

You never know. maybe someone at apple will read that you will all cancel if they do that

Basically I meant they won't have the new models (1.83, 2, 2.16) until Friday

The UK hardware pages have been updated with the new speeds so it's just the store.

Maybe they're working out a price for the 2.16 upgrade. Sure it'll be on there soon but it is a bit poor that they're taking this much time to update it.

The upgrade will be for everyone, not just the US.

Interestingly, I had initially dismissed comments about this effectively being a rev.B and thought that Apple had always planned to release the faster machines (or at the very least, only the processor was different), but I notice they have actually changed the product codes.

Old: MA090LL, MA091LL
New: MA463LL, MA464LL

The UK product pages have been updated with the new details, but the store hasn't yet. Weird that the UK codes end in LL - they usually end in A for the UK (even the old MacBook Pro UK codes ended in LL). Of course, a new product code only means that something on the bill of materials has changed (most likely just the processor, not the logic board revision) but it is curious all the same.

Anyone else think that Apple may have had MBP problems and have therefore revised more thant he processor...

A little bit of me wanted them to go with Nvidia GPUs as well... o well... maybe if they don't ship until late March we will get Dual 2.5Ghz and nvidia 78000 GTX cards ;)

UK order dates are all over the place. Mine was the 7th Feb, 10th Feb, 28th Feb, 10th March, 15th March and now it's gone back to 28th Feb.

I guess it'll be jumping around for the next day or so.

You do have to wonder about the UK. They are not willing to put up the notification on the website, but all their info pages on the MBP talk about the 2.0 and 2.16GHz models... what the hell is going on here?

Anyone else noticed that the UK is generally a bit slooooow to catch up with the rest of the world?

Well to be fair, the UK store is usually updated within a few minutes of the US store. It's odd that this update is taking so long though.

Maybe they'll be adding a few quid onto the price for the UK models!

Strange isnt it, it seems everything but the website is sorted, the reps all know about the new deal and all the orders have been upgraded. I have a ship date of the 24th of feb now (1.67 thats now a 1.83 with the 7200rpm hd)

Update.. Ok.. now its the 28th.. its changed 3 times this morning now! crazy

There were lots of reports of the US and Canada stores giving out incorrect shipping times for BTO (CTO) configurations and the 2.16GHz model. Perhaps the developers are working to fix this code and data before rolling out the update to any more of the regional sites.

Yea, I´m with you, cause I´ve already cancelled my order. If Europe dont get the update, I will most likely get:
1) Really angry
2) Get more angry
3) Throw pillows and stuff around me
4) Order a 1.83 GHz and hope that the update will hit us Europeans too by friday!

Anyone else with us, and cancel the order?

nope. it's already confirmed, that we also get the upgrade !!!

a) it says everywhere
b) i got an email from apple saying so
c) it figures in my apple-store account (see below)

why cancel!? to move back to the end of the certainly humungus queue again ??

I am more likely to cancel my order because my delivery date is now the 27th of March...that's just too damn close to the 1st of April and Apples 30th Anniversary. I would be disappointed (to say the least) to wait and get the MBP delivered on the 27th then only to see just a few days later Mr Jobs announcing the insanely powerful MacBook Pro II with Intel Merom and x1x00 mobile graphics (and FW800/DVD DL/etc) and new OS X Vista Virtualisation tech for gamers.

But then i'd buy nothing and always be waiting for the next big thing, so i'll probably just hang on and take the disappointment like a man.

Still no update to the UK AppleStore - I've always felt UK customer service was v. poor - this just confirms it. When can I order my 2.16?!!!!!

I see, but the norwegian store hasn´t yet been updatet. so I cant get my order on the line, I called Apple but they cant either take orders on the 2.16.
So every mouse and man in the US can order the 2.16 before I can. When I get to order, the shipping date will probably be in april or something.
Let us know if other European store gets updatet with the new MacBook Pro.

Hmmm.. I wonder...

I wonder if the CPU bump is to soften criticism about the delayed ship times, mine has slipped again to the 28th of Feb. Instead of a wave of criticism, we're seeing a wave of love!

Well, when someone who had a Feb. 15th ship date gets an order update email, let us know!

Mine was scheduled to ship on the 15th (I ordered the second the site came back up on the 10th). I just talked to apple and they told me if I upgraded to 2.16 my order would be delayed an extra 3 weeks ! If I leave my order as is (1.83 upgraded to 2.0), the ship date is Feb. 28th.

I honestly do believe that apple is having a ton of problems with the macbook.
I think that the processor bump for everyone is to cover the time that they need to work out some kinks and thus why we all have retarded long shipping quotes.

My CTO 1.83 isnt due to ship until the 8th of March, before this little processor bump, it was due to ship on the 28th.

I seriously wouldve just rather taken the 1.67 so I could stop using a Pent I desktop. BUT NO, now I have to wait until after my birthday to get the computer I ordered in the beginning of January. I am so pissed. Its unbelieveable.

Apple has a precedent with slipping ship dates. Remember the 17" G4 Powerbook due out in February of 2002, no, wait, March, okay, you people will be getting them in Apple.

But the granddaddy of all Apple's frustration-worthy announce-a-date-and-delay-delay-delay was the G5... hands down, one of the most mind-bendingly frustrating things. Announced at WWDC 2003, shipping by "August" said Steve Jobs, by "shipping" he meant a bunch of units to a university for a super computer, but no actual consumer got theirs in August. A friend of mine ordered his the day of the WWDC keynote, it's ship date was, in fact, August 29, then it slipped to September, then October, and eventually November!!! He was able to score one however through MacWarehouse though for an October release date, cancelled his Apple order, and swore he'd "never order another Apple computer through Apple again." Couple years go buy and, uh, yeah, he's still ordering Apple computers through Apple.

I'll be ordering a new shiny Macbook (stupid name) soon but I have a couple working machines. It's laughable the people who come here to bitch about the computer delays of their order. Though frustrating, it's not the end of the world, it's just a computer, get a grip. Most that threaten never buying another Apple ever either will or by all means, please don't let the door hit you on the arse you whiny needy troll, but by all means when you get a crappy peecee come back and complain about viruses, or rebooting, or bugs, because the time you could have waited for your Macbook will be lost in productivity in your first year with WindozeXP and some cheap plastic peecee. Get a grip... or don't.

I see where you are coming from on the whole complaining part, because ALL of us have to wait, so why do we all need to bitch and moan. I am just super frustrated because I sold my iBook the first week of January, hoping for an intel iBook at Macworld. Then we got the Macbook, which I thought was too expensive. So I had my dad bring me a Dell Pentium One 90 MHZ!!!! from his work that he got for 1 dollar. I have been using this since January 11th and I am losing it, I cant do photoshop, I cant put new music on my iPod. Seriously its terrible. I have been at my college library so much, its out of hand, they probably think I have no life, but I have to do EVERYTHING here. Homework, music, photoshop, and just surfing. I dont really care what computer I get anymore, seriously, I just need something that works. And I want my F'n Macbook.

You are wrong, I'm pretty sure those MacBooks are not packed and shipped from India.

Actually, I'm not wrong...you just deleted the part of my post where I said I was kidding!

As for "delays", what was apple's original promise on shipping these? Mid february? Just plain old february?

At the keynote, Jobs said "Shipping in Feb" then people ordered, got feb 7th, and then the next queue of people were the 15th and the next queue was the 28th. Now its just plain all gone to hell.
