Quick question, what shipping method did you use:

2-day

or

Standard

Anyone else? I got standard, since I heard that every MBP will be air delivered straight from Shanghai for the time being.

2-Day.

CTO 2.0 with 7200 RPM Drive. Wasn't expecting it this soon =)

I also ordered the same config with 2-day shipping and my tracking status page looks identical to that right now.

In Stores?

How do apple retail stores handle new products. If they are shipping to individuals, does that mean they'll we can expect them in stors this week as well?

I just sharted myself. My MBP is on the way baby, yeah!!! :D

Who is self rightous here

Oh, Jesus, the level of whining on this thread is incredible.

Don't you people know that the word "estimate" doesn't mean "guarantee?"

Don't you realize that manufacturers run into delays?

I'm sure you'll just dismiss this as a flame, but no, glimpsing your true personalities has been shocking and disappointing. I know someone who is eager to get his hands on his, and he's disappointed that his first estimate fell through, but he understands what that word "estimate" means, and is patient. And I'm trying to assume that most people like him aren't bothering to post here, either. But this bitchfest really makes me question the idea that Apple owners are the cool nice helpful people, when what I see is a bunch of self righteous complainers burdened by an extreme sense of entitlement.

Your orders aren't late until you are promised a specific date, and that date passes. Get over it.

I was promissed a date when I called. I was told Feb 15th. When that date came, and I called on the 15th, I was again promised "This week" Well, its not officially Monday, and they still have not shipped my MBP.

Oh, and BTW, they charged me on the 15th, so not only do I not have my PC, but I am short a good $2600.

Oh, and last I checked, its a free country (at least here in the US). I have the freedom to bitch about my "promised" date slipping, just as you have the freedom to take your !@# somewhere else if you dont want to read my bitching...

...FLAME ON!

It's probably because you're in Germany more then anything. I still haven't heard of any non-US orders shipping, although I have heard of a lot of US orders that were placed after international ones that are shipping. Maybe some priority to US-based-shipments?

Edit: Okay, some UK orders have. Have YET to hear/read about a non UK/US. My bad...

I ordered 1/12/06, but I am seeing people that ordered on 1/17 getting their confirmations. I was also billed on the 15th, but it was because I had to call and update my CC expiration. Apparently when they did that, they put the charge through. Oh, and I ordered the 1.83 (2.0) with 100gb HD, 1gb mem.

Edit: Forgot to mention...I am in the US (Florida) and took "standard" shipping. It looks like the shipping method may be key to those who ordered and are getting confirmation. Can anyone else who did standard shipping pipe-up and let us know if yours shipped yet?

Ok, just cleaned up. Here's a re-cap:

Ordered CTO MacBook Pro on 1/13/06 with standard shipping option (Free)
MBPRO 15/2.0 CTO
2.0GHz Intel Core Duo/256MB
1GB 667 DDR2 - 1 SO - DIMM
100GB Serial ATA Drive@7200rpm
SuperDrive (DVD±RW/CD-RW)
BkLit Keyboard/Mac OS
Airport Extreme Card&BT

Got an estimated ship date of 2/15/06
Come 2/14 bumped to 2.0GHz from 1.83
New estimated ship date of 2/28/06
Credit card pre authorized on the morning of 2/19/06
Shipped 2/20/06 according to apple.com status page with tracking number. But as of right now, no confirmation email.

You prove me wrong mbabaur...

That does indeed blow my mind that yours' has not shipped...

- I ordered at 2:20 P.M. PST on Jan. 10 for a 1.83 MBP w/7200 hard drive.
- Estimated shipping of Feb. 15 with estimated delivery of Feb. 23rd (standard shipping)
- Updated to 2.0 GHZ on Feb. 14
- Called and upgraded CTO order to a 2.16 GHZ chip at 8:00 A.M. PST on Feb. 14
- Estimated shipping bumped up to Feb. 28th, Est. Deliver of March 7 (still standard shipping)
- Shipped today, Feb. 19 (Feb. 20 in Shanghai, China though) and picked up in Shanghai (making it's way to alaska like the other's I'm assuming?)
- Kept standard shipping the whole time with a estimated deliver in E-mail shipping confirmation from Apple for Thursday, Feb. 23rd.
- Oddly it was estimated deliver is still the same although shipping has changed and shipped later then the original est. shipping of Feb. 15.
- This in mind, will be extremly excited to see it this week. Although I am sure some people with 2.0's both stock and CTO will see there's possibly tomorrow and very likely by Tuesday.
- This makes me wonder that had I gone with the 2-day-shipping option, I may have seen mine tomorrow (Monday) or Tuesday... Oh well...

Duff-Man says...all this excitement of seeing people's orders shipping has me itching to place an order for one...my G4 15" 867 is due for an upgrade anyway...dare I? ...oh yeah!

Stupid Question...

I know it's very silly to ask that but has anyone heard any report of a flagship store receiving shipment?
I called Regent Street in London on Friday and the guy told me they had been expecting them since thursday... They can't be very far away, can they?

Shipped!

My 2.0 CTO MBP with 100gb 7200rpm Drive has shipped (via TNT) to the UK, ordered 5:53pm on Jan 18th.

Looks like Apple are catching up quite well!!

I'm so excited!

Update: I received my e-mail notification about an hour after getting confirmation from apple.com status page. The e-mail indicates an estimated delivery date of Thursday 2/23. So indeed all MBP's go express delivery straight from Shanghai, China regardless of the shipping option at this time. Tracking it this morning shows it was picked up at 10:21AM, with no estimated delivery date from FedEx.

Not sure at this point if 2-day delivery would have made a difference in the date of shipping. I ordered a few of days after the keynote (1/13), so Apple might be running through the queue. Although I've read reports of orders after mine shipping before me, so did these individuals have the 2-day shipping option???

This is reassuring as it at least it looks like they should be up to the orders from 1/13, at least for the 2.0GHz model, CTO in top of that.

Good luck to everyone else in the queue, keep checking your status!:)

I really do think that the reason Apple bumped everyone up was due to a shortage of 1.83 processors... I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, as I understand it, Apple has told their distributors that the 2.0s are on their way, but they have no news on the 1.83s  Sorry.

Well, I called this AM, and basically was told they don't know why people who appear to have ordered theirs after I did are getting theirs before mine, then told to go pound sand. The only "compinsation" offered was that the floor manager offered to "watch" my order to see when it went into posted status. WTF! I honestly want to know WHY people who ordered on 1/17 or 1/18 with the same exact setup and shipping option are sitting pretty with their tracking numbers in hand, and I am sitting here with crap.

This is NOT a good start for my first Mac (my wife has a PB 15" 1.67, I have been Gentoo linux for 5+ years). At this point I honestly feel like just canceling my order and telling Apple to screw themselves, but I opened my Cinema display and BT keyboard already to make sure they were not damaged in shipping, and I know they would screw me on the restocking fee.

Can you cancel your order yet?

I contacted my reseller and was told that Apple had blanker cancelled all orders and made everyone re-order. I know they did that on their direct sales, but they also replaced the orders automatically and gave the customer the option to change. In the case of re-sellers they had to re-order everything and were told that they had effectively ordered them on the date of the re-order and not the original date. So now my order date is 17 Feb instead of 11 Jan. So you could be one of the lucky ones

Anyone have any estimates on speed for me?

will Photoshop run faster on my 800mhz imac G4
with Jaguar or faster in Rosetta on my 1.83Ghz MBP
running Tiger?

Nobody has one yet.

But I would venture to say photoshop even under rosetta will be faster than what you have now.

I tend to recall a first-look from MacWorld I believe that compared the pre-production models at MWSF '06 (that were 1.83 with 2 gigs of ram and a 128 X1600 I believe) that compared the rosetta emulation to that of a 1 GHZ G4. MacWorld also reviewed the new Core Duo iMacs with similar stats to the MBP's and compared the emulation speed to that of older PowerPC processors. (Edit: See Below...) If this is the case you should be running faster then your 800 mhz G4 on Photoshop but maybe not the speeds you'd hope for, and definitely not quite as fast on a G5 iMac (and definitely the dual processor and/or dual core G5 PowerMac's). For this reason I am hoping my 2.16 MBP runs comparible to the 1.67 G4 PowerBooks or at least as well as my current 1.42 G4 Mac Mini... But only time will tell, but like another reviewer said - I'd guess that you will see a speed increase on the faster side of things, albeit not a HUGE one. That is until Photoshop and CS3 etc. become universal;)

Edit: Here's the link: http://www.macworld.com/2006/01/reviews/intelimacs/index.php

...And towards the bottom, here's the quote: "Second, programs that do run on the translator generally work at roughly half the speed they deliver on PowerPC processors. With today’s hardware, that’s not nearly as bad as it may sound—after all, half of 2GHz is 1GHz, and most programs run acceptably to most users on 1GHz machines. In fact, I scarcely noticed the slowdown when using Microsoft Office on the Intel iMacs; Photoshop CS2 was less responsive than on recent PowerPC Macs, but not painfully so."

Overall: According to this review, a 1.83/2 would be about a 915 mhz speed in Rosetta Emulation, and should therefore be faster. Also, I believe these iMac reviews were with the stock 512 of memory. I have also heard from iMac Core Duo owners that more memory helps the ram-intensive Rosetta so you may get even better performance mattering how much ram you threw/throw in there. Who knows, but I hope that helps a little!

That's good to know, but when I checked Propellerhead's
statement, they said they have no target date for updating
Reason 3.0 to run in Universal, and they estimated the
performance level under Rosetta as G3 level, which would
be a downgrade for me. It is already too slow for me on
my iMac G4. It was at least acceptable on my Compaq
desktop that I sold. Maybe I'll start shopping around for
other software until Propellerheads has a Universal Version.
