Jersey's not in the US anymore? Finally! Now if they can annex DC the country will be of less landfills and politicians! A better place for all!

Guys, I think he was joking - he obviously was trying to play up the "ignorant American" stereotype. He just as easily could have joked that New York is the first and only "York" as well... ;)

Of corse if he was serious.... ;)

At any rate, we should get back on topic here...

Update on my order from 1/13 (see sig), my credit card now shows a pending charge from Apple!!! :D

They must be burning the midnight oil over in Shanghai!

So you are saying it is perfectly fine for Apple to start taking orders for an "Octoprocessor Mac Pro", and basically forget about the whole deal after that? "Hey, until you are promised a ship date you are promised NOTHING! Get over it!"

We shall see how that will pan out.

Customers are always entitled to make demands, that's why you are paying money. Get over it yourself.

Actually, no, that's not what I said. And please provide evidence that shows that Apple deliberately misled purchasers with their estimates, or "[forgot] about the whole deal after that."

Perhaps I am mistaken, but deliberately misleading people doesn't seem to be something they are known to do (or nobody would have pre-ordered from them, this time). And yet you leap to the assumption that that's what they've done, here. If you really feel that's what they did, you should cancel whatever outstanding order you may have, and stop buying from them. If you don't feel they did, then it is misleading to imply otherwise in your arguments.

A report over at Macintouch.com today(1/19) states that even though individuals are getting shipping notifications, NO MacBook Pros have actually shipped. Can those of you that got a shipping notice, please track the packages location and report back, thanks.

Are you kidding me?? 22nd of January?
I thought Apple does ships "first ordered
first served" ?? What about my order from the
11th of January and all the others that ordered
earlier?

Well but anyways , great that yours shipped.
Enjoy it. :D

Edit : Just read on Macintouch that there really
seems to be an error by Apple, and that
some orders as late as 14th of Feb. are
shipping. Great Apple, so much about pre-ordering.

Mine appears to have shipped. From the TNT tracking:

18 Feb 2006 23:47 Shanghai Shipped From Originating Depot
18 Feb 2006 20:38 Shanghai Consignment Received At Transit Point
18 Feb 2006 20:08 Shanghai Consignment Received At Transit Point

I don't know what else this would be.... but here's the the latest line in the tracking of mine:

Feb 18, 2006 8:48 PM Departed FedEx location ANCHORAGE, AK

My 2.16 CTO MBP has shipped!

YES! My MacBook Pro 2.16 w/1 gig Ram and 7200/100GB Hard Drive has officially shipped Today, Sunday, Feb. 19! Whoever said about the 2.16's not shipping was dead wrong, I ordered about 2:20 P.M. (PST) on Jan. 10, called on Feb. 14 to ask a fine young (old?) man (@ Apple Customer Service) to update my current order to 2.16 so I wouldn't lose my place in line, and of today it has been shipped. If anybody does not believe and wishes to see the proof in a screen shot, just ask. I am jumping for joy as I'm sure many have you have seen me and my bad grammar/spelling all over these MacBook Pro forums! The only downside is if battery life does become unspectacular, no canceling the order now. Here's hoping for the best and being super excited in the mean time!:D

That sounds pretty shipped to me ;). Has anyone he ordered from a reseller and had a chance to ask them if they have any news on their orders?

I speculated on another thread that the reason Apple upgraded everyone was that they had a shortage of 1.83 processors but didn't want to delay the top of the line models.

A week and a half ago my reseller was told by their supplier that they would be getting the 1.67s shortly but that there was no news on the 1.83s.. To me this all fits..

Thanks to everyone that responded so far to my post about where the MBP's are at. Looks like there will be some happy people this coming week.

I'm still patiently waiting for shipment confirmation.

Well, but I ordered a 1,83 originally, so I am getting a 2,0 now and those
are shipping. And I've seen several shipping screenshots from people
who ordered weeks after me. I need this Laptop for a project at my university, and the sooner it gets here the better. That's the only reason I
preordered. (Well and maybe my impatience :D )

If I wake up tomorrow noon (it's gonna be noon cuz I am going to watch the
NBA all-star game tonight) and there is still no shipping notification, I am definitely gonna call and complain.

Has anyone ordered through MacMall ??

... and have you received ANY word on the status (either In-Process or Back-Ordered (like mine)). I'll admit I ordered 1 Feb, so don't expect it till it shows up on the door-step. Just curious...

Ordered thru MacMall because of a memory upgrade to 1 G (free minus installation), plus another 1 G, otherwise a stock 1.83(2.0).

My tracking looks the same. Looks like mine is on the same plane! I ordered on the first day.

Yeah I ordered at 11 AM the morning of the keynote.

I ordered the same setup but on January 17th and you are absolutely right about how great of a deal it is but you forgot to mention that there is no sales tax - but there is shipping.

I called them two days ago and they said that they are expecting 10,XXX 2.0ghz machines between 21st & 22nd. After talking to them I asked when I should expect mine and they said that couldn't provide an exact ship date but that I would be in the first to ship from them because when I talked to them they where only 95 units short of fulfilling all of there orders at that time.

I just called again to confirm and spoke to someone other than my account rep and they reiterated the same thing and said that my order will show as back ordered until they get there shipment from apple.

Is it just me or does it seem like all the n00bs are getting MBP's and no one else

Are you serious? Well, those "n00bs" you're talking about were obviously smart enough to order their machines right when they were available, THAT'S why we are receiving shipment notifications, not because some text on the screen denoting our status directly relates to our shipment times. BTW, im listed as a newbie, but i haven't used windoze machines for over 10 years, and I've been visiting this site for years as well. Keep those comments to yourself, they dont add anything positive whatsoever. So I'll just sit back and relax knowing my MBP should be arriving in Alaska any time now...:D

Well, that's good to hear about them receiving their initial allotment early next week. I didn't get overnight or anything, just UPS Ground which gets here from Memphis in 3 days anyway. I estimate I should get mine no later than 28 Feb. I can wait - working on income taxes right now and won't have time to "play" until after..

Well

Well obviously Apple has messed something up and a lot of paople who ordered late get their shipment first. I ordered on the 11th and mine is still not shipping.
Has nothing to do with your status of a macrumors newbie, just wanted to release my anger again.. ;)

It's probably because you're in Germany more then anything. I still haven't heard of any non-US orders shipping, although I have heard of a lot of US orders that were placed after international ones that are shipping. Maybe some priority to US-based-shipments?

Edit: Okay, some UK orders have. Have YET to hear/read about a non UK/US. My bad...

Just to clarify...

I am once again just speaking what I know of the 2.0 BTO and some 2.0 CTO. Obviously the 1.83's are going to take longer and ship later regardless, and I'm not sure how many of the 2.16's have shipped thus far. I know mine has, but that's because I updated my 2.0 to not lose my place in line since I preordered shortly after the keynote. For those who cancelled orders then re-ordered altogether on Feb. 16 apparently have ship date estimates sometime in March... But I remember feeling pretty sour when I had heard that UK orders were getting shipping estimates of Feb. 7th while mine (and most every other US order) was estimated for Feb. 15th. Then again, look what happened with that whole deal, but the Valentines gift of boosted processors more then makes up for waiting another week in my book.:)
