Recent order, long wait!

Well, for those that may be interested, just FYI:
I guess I got caught up in all the hype and ordered my BTO MacBook Pro 2/15/06. The estimated ship date is 3/16/06! So, it would seem that the rumor (can't remember where) that a BTO unit would bypass the backlog of standard order configurations does NOT hold true! (One can only hope I might still prove this wrong). My order is for 2.0 GHz w/7200 RPM/100 GB hard drive.
For what it's worth, the 30" Apple Cinema Display ordered at the same time arrived yesterday (2 days) and I have no means of even testing for dead or stuck pixels until my MB Pro arrives. Any suggestions?
PS: This is my 1st post in MacRumors so please excuse my wordiness.:D

That is indeed, good news!! If I may, what was your order date?

Oh, Jesus, the level of whining on this thread is incredible.

Don't you people know that the word "estimate" doesn't mean "guarantee?"

Don't you realize that manufacturers run into delays?

I'm sure you'll just dismiss this as a flame, but no, glimpsing your true personalities has been shocking and disappointing. I know someone who is eager to get his hands on his, and he's disappointed that his first estimate fell through, but he understands what that word "estimate" means, and is patient. And I'm trying to assume that most people like him aren't bothering to post here, either. But this bitchfest really makes me question the idea that Apple owners are the cool nice helpful people, when what I see is a bunch of self righteous complainers burdened by an extreme sense of entitlement.

Your orders aren't late until you are promised a specific date, and that date passes. Get over it.

You are right and I hang my head in shame for any moaning re the delivery dates... re apples bias towards the US and their decision to not ship to Jersey I retract nothing.

Sorry, but there are a LOT of CTOs out there. (I also have a 2.0/7200 order; ordered on 1/12, due on 2/28.)

Same here, ordered on 1/13 with the 7200RPM CTO option. Still not shipped, was originally quoted for 2/15, now its 2/28 since the processor upgrade

Jersey's not in the US anymore? Finally! Now if they can annex DC the country will be of less landfills and politicians! A better place for all!

I think he was referring to Jersey in Europe.

Although I agree that New Jersey sucks.

Whoa there...any reason?
Much of the northern part of the state is polluted (I live 2 miles from the border; you know if you entered NJ because of the smell). The people are nuts (this includes more than 1/2 my family that still resides there). The state government is corrupt as hell (Anyone remember Jim McGreevy?). Then there's Camden: the most dangerous and second poorest city in America. Newark and Trenton are really dangerous as well.

Now the good thing about New Jersey: Gas is cheap.

I am not meaning to provoke an argument, but I was just curious of your particular reasons for such a distaste for New Jersey as a whole. I have lived in NJ for 2.5 years and still to this day have significantly less disdain for the state of NJ as opposed to other states I have lived in/visited.

I just gave you my reasons. I'll also add that EVERYONE I know who grew up in NJ (including both my parents) wanted to get the hell out of there ASAP; only a small minority of them eventually moved back.

There are people who like NJ very much. That's fine, as long as I don't have to live there. As it is I spend more time there then I would like to, because of my family.

Jersey. There's a reason why the U.S. state is called "New." :p :D

I was just curious - I am by no means an advocate of this states political debacle or consider myself a poster boy for the state - but I have never really been 100% satisfied or 100% against anywhere that I have live or visited (I have lived in 7 different states and visited all 50 states in my short time on earth)

I just got an e-mail from Apple saying they charged my Visa for my Macbook, but my order status still states that it has not been shipped, and it's been 10 hours since I received the message. I'm not negating the possibility that Apple's order system hasn't updated yet, but I wanted to see what people had to say here. BTW, its a CTO 2.0 Ghz that I ordered on Jan. 10. THanks.

[EDIT]
At this moment the apple order status page is down for updating, perhaps many of us will soon see a refreshed listing regarding our MBPs.

Apparently too many people are continously checking their order status to see if it's shipped, where it currently is etc. That is why the service is currently down and probably why it's not up-to-date.

You people should be ashamed of yourselves.

How do you know that's why the service is down? Apple usually does updates around this time in the early morning anyway...

So you are saying it is perfectly fine for Apple to start taking orders for an "Octoprocessor Mac Pro", and basically forget about the whole deal after that? "Hey, until you are promised a ship date you are promised NOTHING! Get over it!"

We shall see how that will pan out.

Customers are always entitled to make demands, that's why you are paying money. Get over it yourself.
