For them computers are low ticket items. A lot of the camera gear they sell is more expensive than most computers...
That must indeed be their mindset. So they lost my business. B&H isn't for those who want to go to the store for service to buy Macs.

If you ship anywhere domestically outside of NYS, it should be tax free. But you might pay for shipping.

I want to ship to the USA,and I tested the checkout system, and before the final step it said 0.00$ tax, so I think I do not have to pay tax.

And what if my relative orders a MBP by phone? Will it be taxfree?(because as i saw online orders are.)

As long as you're shipping domestically outside of New York State, then, yes, there is no sales tax.

Yes. Same as above.

Oh yes. Sorry I misread your previous comment ,my fault:rolleyes:

Thank you :)

Good luck, you can save a lot of money by buying Apple stuff in the US. Once I ordered from Amazon and got the package delivered to my hotel a couple of days before I arrived, and when I checked in the package was waiting for me behind the reception desk. ;)

I have a question regarding buying a MBP at a Apple Store (not online).

If I go to the NY's 5th Ave store (example), I can find a MBP 15" i7 with anti-glare screen? I mean, I need to order it, or maybe I can find it ready to pick up at the store?

Thanks in advance!

You should call as stock may vary. If you buy in store you will pay tax.

I will! As soon as i arrive in NY (I'm from Brazil).

Thanks again!

Are you just staying in NY? There is an Apple store just off of the Interstate in Delaware (Christiana Mall) and Delaware has no sales tax. Don't forget - if you are a student or buying for a student to get the student discount as well.

This is a GREAT point. The Christiana Mall sits pretty much right on I-95.

If you buy at the 5th Ave store, you are adding an extra 8.875% to your costs. Why pay that? You aren't getting greater value or more computer. If you have a student discount, you won't see any savings because the city and state taxes will take your money. I bought my MBP in NH with the same discount (gov't employee) and no sales tax. I saved hundreds of $$$. ^

Feel free to play at the 5th Ave store (it's open 24/7/365), but buy elsewhere.

Hey guys!

So I have just ordered a MBP from amazon(i7 2,66ghz 15'').
I did not go for the 2,8ghz because it would have cost more than 250$ compared to the 2,66 on amazon.(with college discount.. :p)

But I will only get it on the 30th, because my relative will get home only in the end of November.:p

Thanks for all the help
