It depends on what is meant with 'major', but I don't really need a major update. I do hope the update includes:
  • The latest CPU
  • More reliable keyboard
  • Optional TB for 13 and 15 inch, WITHOUT cutting corners elsewhere
  • And yes: Face ID
None of these require a major case redesign, and they're still pretty awesome updates.

As a few others have said, perhaps we’ll see the touchbar being optional on high end models. Or maybe even being removed.

Apple say that faceID is the future so what’s the point in then releasing new top end hardware featuring TouchID.

Also I wonder that with the iMac Pro and (presumably) the Mac Pro being released at WWDC, if the MacBook Pro is now going to fall back to a product intended to service designers, video and iOS app developer professionals who need to adjust their work on the go with their main workstation intended to be a desktop. One could argue that that’s already happened.

Oh and finally. Another keyboard revision until we get a new form factor in 2019 (presumably).

Everywhere but the USA will get an update. In the UK i'm suprised our update didn't happen already. The £1 is slowly getting stronger. It's long over due a price increase.

No updates. Here's a few that spring to mind, in case you've forgotten, Apple.

•Make the Gimmick-bar optional.
•32+GB Ram options across the Pro range.
•nVidia GPUs for those who want/need to use CUDA.
•Option to choose between old and new keyboard design.
•Re-introduction of the Anti-glare option.
•Re-introduction of the 17" model.
•Non soldered, user accessible Ram & SSD.
•Re-introduction of the illuminated Apple logo on the back of the display.

(yeah I know... there's about 0.0000000000001% chance of any of this materialising).

Quickly becoming the de-facto enterprise computer standard. That's what unparalleled security and incredibly cheaper maintenance costs buy you.

Mac sales can double in a very short time.

Unparalleled security through root access with no password, near zero upgradability and donglecity to add any meaningful additional ports.

Can I borrow your ticket into the reality distortion field please?

Didn't OWC manage to create a 64GB RAM kit for previous iMacs that only 'supported' 32GB? I wonder if such a workaround would be possible on MPBs to double up to 32GB? Although I suspect that even if it was, heat would be the issue...

What more does it need than an upgraded CPU? Not much more should be done at this time.
better and more reliable/fault proof keyboard (almost everyone I know is not happy with the keyboard), better graphics (the current one is bad), improved screen (HDR screen would be great, smaller bezels screen), replaceable/extendable (not soldered!) ssd (this was really a nasty step from them last time), sd card reader would be nice, possible face id .. so many things can be improved besides the form factor

This article it is confunsing...

I guess that what it meant is that, as we all know, the design will remain the same cause they change it every four years: and the 2018 will be the third version, of four, in this generation...

But WE ALL the MBP users want a 2018 refresh that include:
  • 32 GB RAM option
  • Powerful GPU (Radeon Pro WX / Vega)
  • Improved butterfly third version keyboard

If they want to have my sweet cash, they need to try better – 32GB RAM option, no touchbar gimmick on the 15", better keyboard and bring back HDMI, magsafe, SD card reader and at least one USB3 port. I know it's not likely so I'll be ditching Apple when my 2014 MBP dies.

Make gimmicky Touch Bar optional. Thank you.

Between the complaints about the keyboards and their fascination with the magical Touch Bar, I think they are on course in their next major update, whenever that is, to convert the keyboard to Touch Bar like keys (maybe with haptic feedback or something). I think the Touch Bar was an experiment on their part moving towards a more flexible layout for input...There are other keyboard manufacturers that have used e-ink displays on individual keys to make them programmable. Think of how great it would be to have an entire keyboard for your laptop that was nothing but emojis.
