MacBook Pro Shipments Being Delayed Due to UPS 'Mechanical' Issues

We’re on UPS81 which left at 4:42 AM and should arrive to ICN in the next 30 minutes. After that it will take its trip to Alaska and then KY.

Our laptops will probably arrive in KY tomorrow mid-day EST, but likely arriving to our cities on Saturday making it likely a Monday delivery hopefully.

Yes! I had departure scan at 4:19a, FINALLY. Now the next question becomes - does it leave Incheon? Or does it sit there next. 5X81 doesn’t seem to have an upcoming flight to Anchorage like 5X91. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS81

I assume this means we’ll need to pick up another ride, or we’re stuck there until Sunday. Guess we’ll find out in a few hours if we get an Departure scan from Incheon.
 
Seems like UPS is not so sneaky enough. I noticed the departed from facility scan changed to 5:15 am. I guess this is supposedly a ”departure” scan from the airport heading to Incheon.
Usually we would see two separate scans but UPS is a total mess now so whatever. We should see arrival scan at Incheon soon!

I think judging from how chill UPS is dealing with this whole mess, I guess we will see our macbook chilling in Korea til Sunday. Might as well change their company name to DOWNS at this point since they are so good at “letting you down” for ultimate customer satisfaction!
 
and just letting everyone know in team November. 5X81 is landing now. Should see scans for arrival soon.

Oh wow, I am actually hopeful this is the case! 5X91/UPS91 has scheduled flights to Anchorage / Louisville TONIGHT. UPS91 departed Shanghai at 5:16p, so this would align much closer to the stamp, vs the 4:19a departure scan that didn’t align to the 4:42 departure of 5X81/UPS81.

5X81 appears it is going to do more runs between Shanghai and Incheon in prep for a bunch of flights to Anchorage this weekend.

Hmm, maybe we should hope for our macbooks to be on 5X91 then! I checked as well. Seems like 5X91 makes more sense!

Maybe UPS is monitoring Macrumors at this point. They must have been biting their nails and pissing their pants how consumers are more on top of their system than their actual employees.

It does seem like our macbook was on 5X91. Was it delayed an hour? maybe. But 5X91 is reaching Incheon soon as well.

Like I said above, I'm highly doubtful (suspicious?) that Apple is shipping these from PVG.

EDIT - but now my departure time changed to 5:15am. it's not a time zone thing - it was previously 4:19am.
Unless 4:19am was facility > airport, then airport was 5:15am departure?
 
oh wait - the departure time of mine just changed from 4:19am to 5:15am. This is getting odd.

That’s also likely. Both Shanghai and Incheon are very large airports. I’m Korean btw and I can tell you even taking Air Canada, we never departed on time. An hour, sometimes nearly 2 hour delay from gate to departure, that’s typical Incheon airport.

Only negative on Monday for me is that I’m not home. We’re leaving for the beach Saturday afternoon, returning Friday the 5th. This timing is all disappointing. But I guess it is what it is. I’ve got friends who’re going to make sure my MBP gets delivered.

Ah, I can understand the disappointment. I hope you can enjoy your vacation still and MBP will be there to welcome you home!

so apple said something like nov 4-5 at the time the machine shipped from china.

at that time, the fedex status page gave oct 29 as the delivery date.

it was delivered at like 1PM pacific today, oct 28th.

this has got to be the first time something like this has happened to me. not often that i say thanks fedex, but... thanks, fedex.

Ugh. Yea, me too. Guess that explains the re-scheduled delivery date of Wednesday. Looks like we may spend the weekend in Seoul unless we hitch a ride on another flight.

I think it‘s really up to UPS at this point. But what’s interesting is that UPS employees in Korea are more accurate time wise. Considering we still have about hour and a half before scheduled flight of 5X91 to Anchorage, it might be very possible we might join them. Fingers crossed, but we can expect to see a departure scan at 8:15 pm EST or let’s say until 9pm EST (give about half hour delay).
