There goes your battery life though when you put the dedicated gpu in it running at a higher resolution.

And if it was as easy as just popping in a gpu inside the chassis in a minute then I'm sure they would offer a dedicated gpu option. I don't think it is that easy. Probably requires a different internal design. Another assembly line at the factory maybe? Another model for retail to stock and learn about?

All for what? The few gamers that want to buy 13" mbps for $1500 to play Windows games who just refuse to step up to the 15" MBP?

Ditch the optical drive. Plenty of space wasted by a device few people use every day. Then we could get a better cooling solution and larger battery as well. Problem solved!

the issue for me is that it would actually be a stepdown compared to the previous gen MBP, the i5 would actually be a pointless upgrade since most mainstream applications will never use the i5's full potential. C2D would have been enough. An SSD would have actually been a better improvement in terms of speed, but i already see those in MBPs and in MBAs.

how is the MBP better compared than the old MPB. in numbers we can see the difference, but in actual performance, i would honestly think the difference would be negligible

and yes im still fixated with the step down (if not the same) in graphics performance. playing starcraft 2 on an MBP was actually a pleasant experience for me, and so was WoW, and running bootcamp to run SFIV.

I'm starting to agree with this.

If you're worried about games buy a 15" or a 17" with a discrete GPU. Games on a 13" screen suck, anyway.
Screen size or display resolution? (Maybe even panel quality.)

The M11x has a strong standing, loose hinges aside. I still believe that 768p is a plague and step backwards.

All i want to know is the 13' model going to be able to play SC2. I dont need high setting just a pleasurable experience of SC2. If it can do that then im sold!

I'm from Sweden, so could you help me calculate how many hours we can expect to have to wait for the announcement of the new MBP's?

Don't really know when and in which time zone it is, that's why I'm asking.

About 18 hours from now (2PM GMT). You'll know it's about to happen because the Apple Store totally shuts down for about 2-3 hours for configuration and updates.

If the specs are true, and this is the replacement for the $1200 MBP, I think it's a mistake by Apple not to include better discrete graphics. It may be a low-end MBP but it's still a "high end" notebook to most consumers used to seeing $500-1000 computers at Best Buy. What good is a processor bump to the average consumer without a corresponding bump in 3D performance? Maybe for iMovie but I can't think of much else. In that case, it'd be better to just buy the previous gen MBP on clearance, if you could find one.

I just bought a bottom end 13" a week ago and was gonna return it to upgrade. Should i do it now?

Please some advice

Any word on if the new facetime camera will be built behind the screen in center of the screen as opposed to at the top?

I remember reading like 8 months ago about apple creating a patent to build the camera behind the screen with tech that allows it to see you through the screen.

ok im a mac noob.
if this is infact the new macbook pro 13.3" specs, and going by peoples reactions on here it appears its not very good!
is this because you expected more or is it not that much better than the current mbp 13.3"
i would like to know got the MBP in my pocket but was waiting till this came out....
should i wait or is the new mbp......p00?
From what I see these specs are pretty awesome Me and alot of people were expecting i3's in all 13" models and the fact that the base has an I5 is awesome. Really i dont know how this got on here, but the people complaining are the ones trying to compare a mac to pc's and are only really interested in gaming performance. They complain like for every other mac that the specs are not as god as some pc laptop which is cheaper. What they dont take into account is how stable and reliable macs are and how effecient their batteries are especially when you concider the size and weight of the laptops. This 13" mac is the best i've seen, of course if you wait till next year they will be better, but this is a huge step up from last year. If you go in expecting a fast reliable laptop that you can casually play games on that will last you twice as long as any pc and not go obsolete within a year than you will love it. If you are hoping to play game xxx at full settings with 40+ fps your going to be dissapointed. But then again your back will hate you when you get that pc laptop with a 2 hr battery that will die within 2 years.

AHAHAHHAHAHAHHAA LOL Violently I guess steve has gone for super fast Graphics this time to go with the Core i5's

AHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHA FAIL/

not happening.

If you returned it now, what would you exchange it for? You have at least 14 days to return it. If the new 13" comes out tomorrow, you'll be within that 14 days and can exchange then. If it doesn't come tomorrow (seems unlikely at this point), return before 14 days (up to 30 depending on who you ask) and wait for the new one.

The M11x has a strong standing, loose hinges aside. I still believe that 768p is a plague and step backwards.

The M11x is also almost a quarter inch thicker and has a CPU with half the TDP of the one in the current MBP. Not a good basis for comparison.

Just a message for you April 2010 and Imac 2009 and above owners The Face time Hd you will all have as well because the current iSight camera's already have a 1280x1024 resolution but get downsampled to 640x480 for video chats. Maybe apple now will remove the restriction on the Imacs and MBP.

I think everybody here agrees that considered the screen resolution this better be, and likely is, the new iteration of MacBook - be it getting the "pro" tag or not.

I am HOPING this is the new Macbook and that the new MACBOOK PROS have undergone a redesign making them black (or dark gray) aluminum. If this were the case, I'd have to guess they are only making 15 and 17 inch Macbook Pros and have said goodbye to the 13 since the new Macbook would take its place. We are all speculating - and no one can prove this says Macbook Pro anywhere, or even if this is a legitimate specimen.

my 4 year old C2Dt6600, Core i5 450m, and C2D P8800 can open this website, microsoft office 2010/2011, open folders, transfer files (all using HDDS), almost all at the same time.

yes, corei processors are THAT awesome

Windows 7 is extremely stable and reliable. Do not spread FUD. Also, Lenovo has new laptops that have up to 15 hours of life with standard batteries. Apple does not lead the pack in hardware or software, only presentation.

I can't believe some people actually think Apple's computers process magical bits. Their stuff is just NOT "better".
