were all upset with this refresh..im still hoping for better specs on the 15..please apple have better specs on the 15...
Ars did an analysis of this when the 13" kept the C2D and the 15/17 got the core i5/i7 processors. They speculated that there simply wasn't enough room on the board for the discrete GPU. That may well still be the case, and if they're unwilling to commit to removing the OD, there isn't a lot of hope.
Lmfao if those are really the only changes then apple lost my buisness to alienware.
I've waited months to replace my "old" laptop and was going to pay a premium for the best power, innovation and design... but if this is all they can offer? That is far from the best.
I'm unimpressed, severely unimpressed, if this is the truth.
I hope for apples sake that this is a horrendous joke.
-Old aluminum unibody design that they've had for almost 3 years now. It's old, everyone has it, and you don't stand out compared to people who have had the thing back when core duo was out and 2gb of ram was staple.. rofl.
Awesome I have a "pro" macbook that looks the exact same as outdated rubbish from 3 years ago ROFL.
-Video card is crap.
-Processors aren't impressive. Apples competition have better.
-Aluminum heats up if you are doing intensive editing/etc. Overall bad heat dispersal.

Lose the optical drive. If they are never going to put in a Blu-ray drive they might as well use the volume for something more practical.
the specs on the 15/17 will definitely be better, there is no reason for it to not be better.
most of the attention was geared towards the 13" rumors started spreading that 1) the superdrive would be ditched in favor of a discrete GPU (which it didnt) 2) apple would have to settle for Intel's IGP (which it did)

well for god sakes! these rumors are driving everyone insane! possibly fake pictures..well apparently they are real..but still and hardly anything showing no one can see whats happening insider or on the other side and we don't even know if its a macbook or maybe the low end macbook pro and still i want to see the 15 in! why didn't anyone leak those

None of them were. They all hit the nail on the frigging head.
If you say otherwise well then maybe you need to get your head out from the sand. This is the truth. I can spend my 4K on a laptop with a SSD, better proccessor, better design, better video card and stand out from everyone else.
So, honestly, the only thing I'm missing is having an apple logo on the back of it. As I pump out better quality music, videos etc (HAVE A BLUERAY FEATURE BTW) and can do whatever I want easily...
I am not heartbroken at all now. They just lost my business and my collegues business if this is true.

Ill second that theory. Since reading the thread and looking at the pics I am convinced that the 13" alu model will supersede the white macbook and merely be referred to as MB. It will be the bottom of the pile in the MB range therefore making the MBA a much better purchase.
Pro models may see this new redesign and much higher specs that will really set them apart from the MBA and 13" Macbook (it aint worthy of the pro tag so I wont bother with it). They have too, for too long this menace that is a alu 13" is confusing people who are running round shouting that they have a pro machine when in fact all it is is a base line mac that under the hood cant even compare to the new MBA in regards to performance.
I reckon the 15" and 17" will have this new flash memory for the OS and the absence of that optical bay to make way for the added SSD storage al housed in a sleek new shell. High def screens, 1Gb Graphics a la carte to boot and a massive wow from customers. If Apple dont pull out the stops on this one and we end up with a minor upgrade on the bigger screens then why bother with MBP? The MBA has proved that it can certainly give the bigger MBP a run for performance.
There has to be a clear divide between the MB line. Its became to saturated over the past few years with very close performing machines that since the intro of the new MBA (and sales to reflect it) dont really have the appeal of buying them over the very fast Air.
My sister was all for a MBP a month ago until I asked her to get hands on with the MBA, straight away she went for the Air because in her own words it was faster than a 13" MB (P). Just to add that this new MB shown has a low resolution and that in its own right puts it way down the ranks beyond that of an MBA.
Im guessing from the image that on the other side of that box it reads Macbook and not a pro designation in sight. Heres hoping!
They could be- I mean, is this guy just going to place this Macbook (if it is real, it's a Macbook, not a Macbook Pro) back in its box opened and sell it? I guess he could be the manager and keep it for himself, but I'm sure Apple requires 2 people to be present before the whole case is unsealed to confirm no one tampered with it...
