:D

Sorry for trying to steal your thunder there Idellx! Your are right though, i dont think I caould handle just another minor update to the 'Pro' range. As Ive mentioned on other posts, Apple need to separate the MB / MBP line. The MBA is very much faster in every application when compared to the current and now this leaked 13" MB(P?).

Ive got a feeling that Apple are gonna surprise us next week!

ahah its okay btw lol at the thunder..thunderbolt..lol what a bad name..anyway yeah i agree i have hope! and if not then :'( ps:its Ldellx3 xD

give it up, this would be a bummer update, we all know it already!

im pretty sure the 15 wont be a dissapointment,

now im torn, 15inch MBP or 13inch MBA, performance or portability. but there is now way in hell im getting an 13inch MBP

Does anyone else think it's funny that there's white space around the screen captured Facetime, About windows? I mean, wouldn't it have been easier to screen capture just the window rather than crop out a section of the entire desktop? Maybe I'm thinking too much...

You're probably overthinking it; the whitespace is just because when you capture a window screenshot, the background is transparent, so you're seeing the macrumors forum background behind the screenshots. This is if you're referring to the 3 screenshots from the other thread.

With all this speculation, wonder if it has anything to do with the missing Best Buy model that skips a beat. Wasn't it 2 SKU's - Skip - then another 3?

WTF do I know. I'm tired, long day of work... I'm going home.

I'm not doubting you, but I have a challenge for you (or anyone who reads this): photoshop an image like any of the ones leaked today yourself and post it here. Don't use any of the supposed "leaked" photos to help; use only images available before today. I know it sounds strange, but I just want to see how easy it really is to photoshop a thunderbolt or some specs onto a box. I would do it myself, but I don't have photoshop.

If you're asking me, I'm not doing it. I am out and not even on a computer. But, for those with access and ambition, it should be EASILY achieved - especially for people who call themselves "professionals" and use "Pro" machines.

Alright everyone, here it is:

13" MacBook - i5 2.3GHz, HD 3000 graphics, 1280x800, no SSD (like the specs we're seeing)

13" MacBook Pro - i5 ~2.6Ghz, HD3000 graphics, 1440 by 900, 16GB SSD

15" MacBook Pro - i5 ~3Ghz, dedicated graphics, 16GB SSD Combo or 180GB SSD

17" MacBook Pro - i7 ~3.5Ghz, dedicated graphics, 32GB SSD Combo or 256GB SSD

The "Pro" will be used to deliniate the new SSD OS drive. That will be the marketing kicker, since it'll be seen as a very novel idea. We already know the plastic MacBook is going away, but that's mostly because plastic looks very dated. There will still be a computer in it's price range, but it will be a unibody, hence this 13" that we're seeing now. There will still be a 13" pro, and it will have SSD and high resolution display.

As for dedicated graphics in a 13"? Get real. Not going to happen. I think you'll be happy with the resolution and SSD in the end, but prepare for the reality that we're not going to see dedicated graphics in a 13". Not now, maybe not ever.

My guess is that there will be NO 13"MB with Pro designation. It isnt deserved of the P especially with poxy integrated graphics. The mac portable line is becoming over saturated with similar specced machines and the 13" MB(P) is the main problem. How can it be a MBP if the MBA spanks its Pro ass in performance??????? See it just doesnt belong there. Apple got carried away a few years back by making a 13" MB and designating it a Pro machine. They now have realised that it aint able to stand up against a MBA so how can it retain that title.

Im with Ldellx3 and saying that the Pro designation will return only to the 15" & 17" models. And rightly so. That little ***** of a 13" has pissed of too many users for too long. Now we will have a clear divide and an easier choice for the run of the mill and pro users / customers.

i5, 2.3 ghz, keeps superdrive sounds good to me as a first MAC purchase but is it that much different in speed than the current model? I won't be goin til after work, so I figure ill check out the impressions from this site.

I really hope the 15" and 17" offer more, but then again I'd be happy as a clam with the current model 15", just holding out hope for cheaper ssd.

mostly likely. from what i can remember, the first aluminum 13 inch macbook wasnt "pro" to begin with and only started being pro when the white macbooks came out

This is fake. The 13" that has been pictured is a "Pro".

So if this proves true, and you want to use an external monitor and Lightpeak peripherals, you'll have to use some kind of Y cable with a minidisplay port adapter on one side to connect up to whatever your monitor offers (which probably isn't MDP) and a light peak adapter on the other side (since the connector isn't MDP shaped)...

Makes sense.
You are way too gullible.

Arn,

Im gonna disagree. it may look like a Pro but from the images there is nothing providing evidence that it is a designated Pro either on the box or the screen. the OP is only showing the I/O which is all well and good but it can equally be a a new Macbook.

Mine and Ldellx3 observation that this 'Pro" machine doesnt have a optical audio in would suggest that it is far from a Pro and a mere MB clad in Aluminium. The white macbook is wayyyyyy outta touch with the rest of the mac line up.

As i said earlier, my 2009 13" MBP doesn't look like it has an optical audio in as it only has one audio port, but it is a combined optical audio in/out....don't let that get in the way though!
