It's less about the wait and more about the option to return or exchange. The wait is a side effect of the whole thing, but the wait from Apple has proven to be less so why not just go direct.

Each his own..Enjoy your laptop if it's right for you it's a great update to the MBP
 
I was thinking to order 13" MBP TB 8GB RAM, 512 GB. I'm currently out of town, coming home on Friday. The website says Free Expedited Shipping (3 business days) to LA. So I was waiting to place the order til Wednesday morning.

Actually it became out of stock on Tuesday. I set a stock notification. I received a stock alerts at 8am today. I placed the order at 8:20 am. Soon after my order was confirmed, it went out of stock again.

I think retailers get some batch of items from the factory. I was wondering if I could get the last one from the batch they received today or it's something else.
 
Well from what I was told by the sales person at b&h when I ordered the TB MBP, he said they ordered X amount of the configuration I ordered and that I was within the first wave of orders. So I think they are doing that with each configuration, they must of ordered X ammount of each configuration as soon as orders opened up so, apple must be holding back orderers from these retailers or why would it take so long to get them at third party retailers.
 
No news or dates in my case. Ordered November 3rd

Cancelled my order today, mostly because the long wait plus lack of info on the status and availability (one month and a half passed).

And yet it is Apple and their new "you order we make it" production model that is at fault. Combined with not sending any product out to resellers.

Wow well I am thinking to cancel my order since I have gotten zero communication and order from adorama. Never had a issue with B&H but I wish they would fix the "shipping date" in the accounts and send emails if there is a delay.
 
I have 3 orders placed between B&H (Nov. 6), Adorama (Nov. 30) and Apple (Dec. 18). Whoever ships first gets my money. Wish I could save the money on tax and APINSIDER discount, but I need the machine before I move the UK in January. I don't want to pay $700 extra once I'm over there :confused:
 
I received a delivery notice from ups. It says someone must be here to sign. They should tell me so before. I should have used my office address.

So good news for B&H BTO orders, well kind of. Looks like they have a date for when they will get their bulk order of MBPs
I just got off of Live Chat with one of the CSR for B&H and this is a portion of the conversation we had.

Koby W: Hello Timothy Cook, my name is Koby W and I'm looking forward to helping you today!
Me: Great
Koby W: Please allow me a moment while I look into this for you.
Me: Ok
Koby W: Thanks
Koby W: I have looked into this for you and currently your order is estimated to arrive at our warehouse by 12/28/16. As soon as we receive it in stock we will ship your order to you, and e-mail you with the tracking information. I apologize for this delay and any inconvenience it may have caused you.
Me: Ok great. And once it arrives at the warehouse it will ship out that day?
Koby W: Within 24 hours usually
Me: Awesome, glad to know. Is there anything that may delay this from arriving at your warehouse on or around the 28th?
Koby W: We can not promise anything but this is the date

So to combine this info with the info that B&H ordered 100 of each BTO configuration, supplied by another user here, we can assume that everyone will get their order with in two weeks. Eight days to arrive at B&H and 3-5 for shipping.

I ordered yesterday and received today - 15 inch space grey base - everyone still waiting ordered BTO?

While checking B&H today I came across the same, the 15" base model Space Gray for $200 off with free overnight shipping. Canceled the 13, which with my BTO options was the same price. Seemed like a no brainer.

No problem. I too hope I was told correct information. It seems a little easier to wait once you have a general idea of when it will arrive.

Thanks for your piece of the puzzle, with finding out B&H ordered all BTO in bulk and with a designated amount for each configuration.
That made me feel confident I will be in the first wave. And now we know that first wave starts shipping at the end of December.

Ya since I don't think they have sold a 100 of each of the Higher end configurations.
 
I cancelled my orderd from B&H on the 14th of Dec and Apple as shipped my computer yesterday.
will arrive next week on Wednesday.!!!! F-U B&H
