...they had to bring the store down worldwide?
Sometimes I wonder what Apple hires those smart people for, if it's just the morons running their daily business.

Oh whatever, I am buying a MBP by the end of this month when I have the cash ready. I could care less if it is the latest one out or not. I am sure that whatever I buy will suit my needs for years to come.

It's nice to see someone with some perspective and isn't complaining daily because an update with speed increases that they'll never even notice hasn't been released yet.

I'm going to put 1 dollar in a jar today, 2 tomorrow, and so on. I think I will be able to get enough in the jar by the time the new MBP comes out...

(its kinda exponential, so it won't take that long :p )

Depending on the job these speed increases can be significant. I have some photoshop tasks that take 4-6 minutes/per image. A 20% speed increase is significant. For many people the bumb will not be noticable but they would like a 20% greater value compared to buying today. For others, speed and portability are the very reason for investing in one of these.

well for me is more like i dont want to pay nearly 2000 euros for a machine thats 9 months old and may be updated in a few weeks.. it may not but i rather wait and spend my money wiselly..at least thats my opinion

As I've stated before, No Way does Apple realease the updated MBPs before the iPad is released!

Yes, I know that they are two different categories, but the MBPs would definitely steal a lot of the iPad's thunder.

I, too, would love to have the MBPs. Unfortunately, we are all just going to have to wait a while longer...

I'm glad that there's another person in the world that thinks the same as me.
I said the exact same thing. However, my mind was turned by the masses of people saying Apple would want to release around the same time as they'll get more people in the store and spending more money.

I personally think both arguments are extremely valid. I'm more excited about next Tuesday as a possible update than any other Tuesday before though. However, I expect an ever-growing familiarity that is disappointment.

Something someone said about Apple waiting to put the new version of SL on them is a new idea i hadn't thought of as the reason for the delay.
:apple: is slowly cutting every last bit of my soul into tiny pieces the longer i wait. Melodramatic i know, but it's true

Suddenly I am interested in this news.

My father in law's 17" PB just died last night. Apparently leaving dumb bells on the lid is bad for the laptop.

He is going to Turkey for three months at the end of this month and was intending to take the PB and my iSight camera so he can talk with us while he's there. Things have suddenly changed.

My 13" Whitebook is literally falling apart. Im buying a new 13" Pro as soon as its updated

If it's anything like the Whitebook I bought about 2.5 yrs ago, the plastic is coming off in chunks on the palm wrest. Mine (now a hand-me-down to my partner) is on its second palm wrest, and has already shed the same pieces.

Exactly, would anyone buy a car for sticker price when the next year's model is coming our in 1-2 weeks? Heck no. That said, this is the best time to get a great deal on the older model because the dealers usually drop the prices significantly. Buying a computer shouldn't be that different. Even Apple thinks so, because you can buy the older model for cheaper in the discount/sale section.

Therefore, even if you don't care about the latest technology (and this is perfectly OK), it would be foolish to buy a MBP right now. These same models will show up in the sales section in 1-2 weeks for a few hundred dollars cheaper. And if you still want to throw your money away, I'll gladly take it instead. :)

What happened to it?

The palm rest (which has already been replaced once) is chipping up from the corner. Its also lifting up from the left side next to the CAPS LOCK button. A few keys (shift and the arrows) are getting mushy. The screen bezel is coming off from the right side. The top of it is chipping off as well.

There are also hairline cracks where the heat is released. Finally the bottom of the thing is heat discolored very dark.

My wife has a new unibody Macbook and the build construction is so much better than my old whitebook.

Apple's sale /discount section... where is that? I have been checking the refurb store if that's what your talkign about... which is like buying a used car, not a discounted new one. Sure it's still a solid car but it's gonna have some miles on it, some dings and scratches. The refurb store is definitely not a discount store for the same product

yes it is, they have no problems, replaced batterys n stuff and if theres even a scratch on it you can give it back

Wonder when the air will get updated, I have been waiting for something with a little more memory. or is the air pretty much dead now with the ipad?

Because those morons have to clear caches worldwide so that all the Akamai pages/sites are updated in sync.

I'm pretty sure Apple doesn't want any other news than the iPad until the iPad is released.

My guess is New MBP's won't be released until atleast a week or two after the iPad.

my original core duo is begging me to take it out back and put it out of its misery. So glad I bought applecare with all the replacements. Poor girl has trouble running internet video now :(
