I hope apple gets their **** together. They need to respond to these claims. My MacBook Pro lasted about 2 hours using word and safari...

Seriously if I didn't urgently need a new MacBook Pro because my 2011 one suffered the graphics issues for the 4th time in the last week of University I never would have bought one.

You should consider taking it back and getting a 2015 model. Its not that much slower and doesn't have any of the problems that this new model is experiencing. Sure you don't get the usb c ports, but you can't have everything. Or keep what you have, in the end its up to you. Personally though I think the 2015 model is a fantastic alternative option and would be the computer I would buy if my 2013 model wasn't kicking absolute trash still.

I hope that these machines sell so bad that Apple is forced to move direction. Going thinner sells life style machines, a profesional laptop would rather go bigger (17" anyone?).

Though I would have liked the Touchbar, the new display and the great Trackpad, I'm quite happy with the "old" 15 Retina I just bought…

And another thing, how f'n hard would it be to put 1 GD legacy usb port on a pro machine. Someone commented about moving on from a 20 year old port. Well you know what? I've got twenty years worth of stuff that I could use until this model came out without a dongle. But no, Apple says FU we don't care. I hope all of you kids enjoy your throw away Pro machine.

Pros can afford to fork over $19 for replacement cables.

A majority of the people complaining about poor battery life are using Chrome and won't even entertain using Safari.

...except that if I use Chrome on my 2013 MacBook Pro, I still get at least 8 hours out of it... Pretty sure Chrome isn't the problem here.
[doublepost=1480917065][/doublepost]Seriously, Apple needs to get their act together. And maybe it'd be best if Tim and Phil just leave the company altogether.... They're driving Apple to the ground.

They next MBP won't even come with a battery.... it's holding Apple back because with a battery it can only get so thin. So next revision you need to bring your own power supply. But hey, you get 24/7 power (as long as you are within 6 feet of AC power).

LOL. Apple did to Safari what they did to their entire computer line... dumbed it down and made it less useful. Why should I use Safari again?

I have perfect battery but instead have graphic glitches and kernel panic crashes.. need to replace it, and then new one maby get other errors instead..
feels like apples quality is only on the outside

And by losing the illuminated Apple logo and ditching the startup chime, the quality is looking (and sounding) poorer on the outside too.

If only they had made the 2016 the same weight/thickness as the 2015 and retained the same ports + price point (except replace the dual Thunderbolt 2 ports with USB-C/Thunderbolt 3, and MagSafe + HDMI with a MagSafe-enabled but otherwise normal USB-C port on either side)... Oh what could have been...

Apparantly, having never been a laptop user , you dont realize what the previous versions were like...

for example more than 5 years ago, you could buy a MBA with the same SSD size as is shipping standard in todays MBP, with battery life not much improved.

5 years FFS
I get your point, but to be fair, while the storage capacity is the same, the speeds are vastly improved. I think I'd still take a slower, larger drive though. Who needs a 256 GB drive that reads 3 GB/s?

When somebody can prove to me that they are incapable of PRODUCING profitable product from ANY of Mac laptops just introduced I'll listen to your sob stories.

Stop whining and get to work.

$1500 for this hardware is peanuts. If it isn't -- then many -- many -- many of you aren't the "professionals" you claim to be.

Considering that I still get most of my programming work done on six year old Mac hardware, I have to agree.

Am I the only person left on earth using Safari?

I use Safari 95% of the time--don't like Chrome much. Not sure about the new MBP (haven't received mine yet), but when I used a 4K iMac this summer I noticed Chrome did not properly display the P3 colors either (everything looked oversaturated and ridiculous--just another reason for me to not like Chrome).

Complains about batter life / Uses Google Chrome.

I find this to be a low rent statement to make. What if someone told you that you will only benefit good results by using the Edge browser? You would tell them to piss off is what you would do. Safari doesn't work for all sites so I don't know why you haven't considered that. These are advertised as 'Pro' machines not machines that only run best with very light use apps. Again, under promise over deliver was the Apple way.

Maybe you should read the article instead of just looking at pictures..

3 users from the article:

1. "Currently I'm powering a 1080p external monitor and casually browsing with Chrome. At full charge, I'm getting an estimate of 3 hours battery life. With gaming it's even less."

2. "MacRumors forum member Scott claimed he experienced a 5 percentage point drop in battery life, from 10% to 5%, in just 12 minutes. Google Chrome, a known battery hog, was listed as the only app drawing significant power."

3. "I've been working non-stop for the past 1.5 hours, back and forth between emails, Safari, Calendar, Messages, organizing files, editing some PDFs in Adobe Acrobat DC, and building a financial model in Excel. I started at 100% and am now at 92% battery, with an estimated 10 hours 35 minutes remaining. If you're not getting this kind of battery life on your MBP you should definitely get it checked out."

Maybe you should take your own advice and read the article.

Imagine, this machine could probably been same thickness as it had before and with our technological advances had twice the battery and usb 3 and magsafe and maybe even a mobile gtx 1080 with 7 terraflops of gpu power (instead of 1.6) and it would probably be even cheaper to produce for Apple. But just to shave off a couple of millimeters, apple sacrificed all of that. Its awesome.

It's both sad and funny to how low once mighty Apple has fallen. Apple's decision making has become a farce.

Apple had confused/selling the specs for newly designed MBAir as MBPro.

And? I don't care what previous versions were like - I'm a forward thinker. Duh.

What's YOUR personal "hands on" experience with THIS MacBook Pro version?

Right. You don't have any. Thanks!

Click the various links making battery life claims. If you're trying to assess the battery life of the MBP in general, those are the ones you should be looking at, and you can decide for yourself if you think the method they use is relevant or valid.

But it sounds like you want to be doing troubleshooting on your specific problem. Go to Apple's support site, find the page on troubleshooting battery life issues and follow it. Or call Apple support. If your battery is defective, get your computer fixed.

Or, if you want, instead of solving your problem you can just complain online.

Do whichever you think will make you happiest.

Though there is also the possibility that the battery is just too small.

I don't actually believe it's a problem, I believe that the reduced battery size is causing the issue.

I can drop my Brightness down to 30%, avoid cpu and gPU intensive tasks and see impressive gains .

Im not trouble shooting, just testing the 2012 v 2015 v 2016.... and really just testing how much the screen chews through the battery if it's bright. The smaller battery comes last, not surprised at all.

Oh ok. Insert "throw away" here.

Dude seriously.

I use Safari most of the time as well for general surfing, but the developer tools are just not as nice as Chrome (or maybe I'm just used to it).

Though I don't _prefer_ Safari, I use Safari because I know it is more efficient. If Chrome is as efficient as Safari I would not use Safari.
