It’s understandable you invested in physical media prior or maybe during digital availability but the majority of people also like subs for this category due to upmixing video and audio that may not have been available when that physical media was released such as Dolby Vision, 4K and soon 8K, HDR, Spatial Audio, etc.
This is greek to me. Point is I need a DVD player and I have (2) of them. One for my TV and one for my Mac.

I don’t remember making any claim about TouchBar and M2 MBP, I did say it was released due to 15” MBA not being ready for release.

Tell me what does the 13” MBP TouchBar have over the M2 MBA other than TouchBar everything else it outdated. Listen I also like the Ford Model T but here we are 😝😂
It was someone else then my mistake. But lots of critics of the Touch Bar on these forums sadly. Perhaps none of these people have ever used apple pay on the Macbook pro to make purchases. It's sure allot easier and nice verses entering ones credit card info on a website.

This explains quite a bit actually, it’s like you are holding on to yesteryears tech and have not delved into present offerings. Most smart TV and most set top boxes have the services to access the content you seek.

This reminds me of someone who found a DVD of an HBO title in a Goodwill store bargain bin for $0.99, took it home and dusted the portable DVD player as the standalone was stored in the garage, could not remember how to use it and was clunky. It took me less than 5 minutes to find it via HBO catalogue and their ended up watching the entire mini series streamed and ended up storing the physical media never to be looked at again. What a waste?

I have a M1 MBA and I have used ApplePay, what does the TouchBar offer that is advantageous; flashy graphics and animations (serious Q)?

Actually other than the TouchBar, the 13-inch MBP has a fan while the Air design is fanless, and I think it’s also got two extra hours of battery life.. not really that big of deal, but yeah that’s it. Though I do agree that the design is outdated.
I still don’t really like the new notch design, but at least it has got some advantages such as the slightly bigger display with smaller bezels, the 1080P Webcam and the MagSafe port.

I accept donations for those that want to convert all my DVDS to digital.

Profit margins between a MP and 13” MBA are not even in the same ballpark. Having another SKU just to appease some IT department who put money into TouchBar is actually foolish on that company and IT department as TouchBar is not an industrial standard unlike touchscreens.

If the 13.3" MacBook Air was popular with the "IT crowd", the 13.3" MacBook Pro would not still be around. That it is, and that it is offered with good discounts for corporate customers whereas the MacBook Air is not, means that if Apple did not offer the 13.3" MacBook Pro, those customers would likely not be buying a MacBook Air, instead. So the profit margin of an MBA is zero in that situation.

Apple has not put any money into the TouchBar since they first launched it back in 2016. They are just leveraging the already-existing production line for the original part so the opportunity costs are zero.

13” MBP is one foot in its grave and IT departments will adapt as physical keys are less prone to something going wrong with the exception of the ill-fated butterfly mech kb which was an engineering issue.

Again, Apple did not have to offer the TouchBar with the 13.3" M1 MacBook Pro. They could have used the two-port "MacBook Pro Escape" chassis with the physical keys.. That they did not would only be because IT departments either wanted the TouchBar or they did not care either way and were willing to pay the extra premium of it being present.
