And critics would likewise come up with some excuse to not take action or responsibility.
I mean, Apple consumers are supposed to oppose the prohibition on Adobe Flash on the iPhone and the exclusion of the Blu-ray drive in Macs, glued in batteries, pentalobe screws, removal of the headphone jack, then DEMAND USB charge blocks, among a few things.
But when any of this falls upon PC or android devices - all of a sudden it’s not the PC or Android consumers responsibility to boycott or otherwise harm the vendor or it’s all Apple’s fault because it would be to inconvenient to put bite behind their bark and not upgrade, or demand schematics for repairability, or buy a phone that does still include the headphone jack, or that *does* include a USB power block in the box or whatever.
Samsung and Google don't operate on the same margins that Apple does. Hard kill them critical issues. They are moveable.
But I might just try to find a way out of this whole idea of notchbook... It sounds awful.
Brand recognition, the apple icon in the top left is too smallWhat is the purpose of the notch? Seriously, WTF? It'll destroy the menu bar UX, doesn't provide useful space because of that, is going to get in the way of games. This is right up there with skeuomorphism and the touch bar that someone thinks is a good idea, but the rest of the works thinks is nuts.
What’s up with the Doraemon on the picture though?
Following a last-minute rumor that upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models could feature a notch at the top of the display, it has come to our attention that this design was potentially leaked in stolen schematics months ago.

Back in April, a ransomware group known as REvil publicly stated that it had gained access to internal information from Apple supplier Quanta Computer in Taiwan, and the group demanded payment in exchange for keeping the information private. Some of the information still leaked, including alleged schematics for unreleased MacBook Pro models that corroborated the return of an HDMI port, SD card slot, and MagSafe.
Now, we have learned that one of the schematics that leaked back in April shows a MacBook Pro display with a notch. In fact, the alleged photo of a MacBook Pro with a notch that surfaced earlier this weekend is overlaid with the schematic of the notch. We've elected not to share an image of the schematic itself since it is stolen material.
It wasn't obvious from the schematic on its own that it represented a notched display instead of a standard FaceTime camera module, but when paired with the new photo that leaked, the situation becomes clearer. Nevertheless, there is no guarantee that Apple settled on a notched display as the final design for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, so we'll have to wait until Apple's event to find out for certain.
A close-up view of the alleged notch in yesterday's leaked image appears to show a FaceTime camera, microphone, and an ambient light sensor for True Tone. Earlier this week, a Reddit user claimed that the next MacBook Pro will not feature Face ID despite having a notch, with a Touch ID sensor expected to remain above the keyboard for authentication.
Last month, in the macOS Monterey beta, MacRumors discovered potential display resolutions of 3024x1964 and 3456x2234 for the rumored 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, respectively. When subtracting 74 pixels from the height of both, the resulting 3024x1890 and 3456x2160 resolutions work out to an aspect ratio of 16:10. All of Apple's current MacBooks feature a 16:10 aspect ratio, leading to speculation that the extra 74 pixels could be for a notch.
Apple's virtual "Unleashed" event begins on Monday at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. The redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are also rumored to feature a faster version of the M1 chip and brighter mini-LED backlit displays, while the Touch Bar is expected to be discontinued in favor of a return to physical Fn keys.

Interesting idea! For me personally I'd much rather keep the Touch Bar than reinstating the function keys. The Touch Bar has some real value in software that I use. But repositioning that on the screen or even better, have the whole trackpad being a touch screen, that would be really useful!I did not read all the comments but has anyone had the idea that the extra 74 pixels are the touch bar moving on to the screen which is a touch panel? One step towards combining iPads and MacBooks.
Under the screen camera module? The biggest issue with the notch is that it will be the headline of all articles about the new MBP when the star of the show should be the M1 Max/Pro or whatever and its incredible performance. To those weirdly against the idea of a notch, if it is a full edge to edge display with no bezel, where would you want the webcam to be placed?
Steve Jobs just rolled over in his grave!! Sorry but that is as ugly as sin!! Two status bars? Steve would fire that dev is a second!!
It is subjective, some people like how that looks. And let's not pretend that every decision under Steve was golden.Steve Jobs just rolled over in his grave!! Sorry but that is as ugly as sin!! Two status bars? Steve would fire that dev is a second!!
Why exactly would you hate the notch? I'm trying to understand your point of view...Steve Jobs just rolled over in his grave!! Sorry but that is as ugly as sin!! Two status bars? Steve would fire that dev is a second!!

No way I'm buying a device without a notch... so guess we cancel each other out 😂 (though I buy totally max'd out MBP so they may lose a few extra bucks with my config)Well, looks like I'll be using my M1 Air for some years to come. No way am I buying a device with a notch.
That is only true if Apple wasn't going to use the same sized panel with a notch sized top-bezel. The notch does give you a laptop which is shorter by approximately half the thickness of the notch.BTW they're not taking pixels away from you... they're giving you pixels that would be bezel...
