You know what’s more disturbing?

People reading rumours pushed by hack “journalists”, and then blaming Apple when the hack changes their made-up guesses.

Apple have not announced this device, let alone announced a launch date, so how can it be delayed?!
Absolutely hit the nail on the head. Journalists feeding the generation of users, who want what they want, now, before they know what they want or need.

That's not a good news. Another year with a worst MBP design in history is sad. Each generation (2006, 2008, 2012, 2016) was a major step forward, but in 2021 they went backwards so far. I hope the new one will be worth the money.

Honestly, do people who have an LCD display ever complain that the blacks are not deep enough? As complete black does not appear in the real world anyway, those display often clip the shadows to make everything under a certain brightness threshold completely black. Maybe you can turn that off, but then you will not see a complete black unless the colour #000000 is intentionally used for a font or graphic elements.

Tim: "We'Re NeVeR fIrSt."

Mhmm. Seems like Apple wants its customers to be last and be behind when the new technology comes out.

A good reason for those that are unhappy about Apple's release strategy to go with a tech manufacturer that's always first. And then find happiness. But that will never happen.

I think that Apple should try to update the MacBook Pro models this autumn with SOC that increase the memory bandwidth and thus, are better in running AI models locally on the unified memory.

Many people don't get the unified memory bit when it comes to AI. The Macbook can run much larger LLMs than the most powerful nVidia RX5090, simply due to shared (unified) system/gpu RAM instead of being hamstrung by the VRAM on your GPU card. The speed may not be equivalent due to the lack of cuda cores, but the trade off on model size can make up for it depending on your circumstances.

The “hack” in question, pretty obviously, being Gurman who, last I checked, was not a member of the MacRumors team…
Mark Gurman is a hack. A hack manager for Bloomberg News Technology, specializing in Apple, Inc.
Who do you consider legit? Because the hacks at MacRumors are citing him as a reference.

Guess we'll find out if he's a hack in September, no?

What I want to know is are we getting ANY upgrade in 2025 or no?

My M1 MacBook is getting too laggy for the photography work I do. Would like to make this business purchase this tax year. Should I just buy now? Wait for an upgrade in October? Or wait for a Black Friday discount?

What, precisely, makes this the “worst MBP design in history”?

/Also, 2016, the year that gave us volcano temps with inadequate cooling and an unreliable keyboard, was a “step forward” in your book?

With the MLX framework, we can run the models on the Macs quite efficiently after they are adopted to the framework. I saw an exponential speed increase after switching to using MLX adapted model.

I seriously doubt increased brightness would be a benefit over LCD, especially if the MBP are also going to be slimmer and lighter. OLED panels cannot reach the sustained brightness of backlit LCD/LED panels. That is one of the reasons why MICRO LED panels are the holy grail for videophiles. Because MICRO LED offers the same infinite contrast as OLED but without the brightness limitations.

Same with OLED iPhones. They generally cannot produce the same consistent brightness as the older LCD iPhones.
You are referring to single stack OLED displays which is the most widely used at the moment including iPhones. The new MBP however will be using a more advanced Tandem OLED display from the iPad Pro M4 which is dual stack, meaning brightness levels on par, even surpassing Mini LED displays. Also burn in is almost non existent. However there is substantial PWM flicker which is a downside for sure.

Plans can change within Apple but there is still a possibility for two MacBook Pros to be launched in 2026. M5 MacBook Pro in January, Air/iMac/mini in April and then M6 MacBook Pro in November. This is only if Apple wants to release a new M chip every year.

You work for Apple? You related to Tim Apple? Am I talking about you?
You stated that Tim Cook made promises? As I can't see where he stated anything, and quite a few others have commented the same, and you seem to be adamant he made promises, it's only fair that you enlighten us. As you posted the information, on a forum, yes you are talking to me, and the thousands that frequent these pages. As someone who has been a member for 13 years, and made over 300 posts, their is an expectation that you have something to contribute.

In 2021 they went back from "form is everything" to "let's balance with function". More ports, better cooling. And no broken keyboards that are minutely thinner, though they got rid of them a bit earlier. What's so bad about the current design anyhow? It's a laptop, it"s functional, I'm happy.
