i guess the reason is...

this is the first time i experience the proble on my macbook pro (late 2009).

Before this problem happened i was in a hurry and just shut the lid and moved it to another room, without waiting for the sleep light to pulse.
I think this is the reason. It's particular,so it explains why people experiencing the problem have all kinds of different reasons and solutions, none of which seems working for everyone.

Maybe Lion will not have this. Otherwise will try removing application enhancer and fiddle around with power saver ticks.

UPDATE: Dang.

I've had this problem too!

My brand new Macbook pro with all the latest upgrades started pulling this "i don't wanna wake up!" routine and it was driving me crazy! I have noticed when I remove the power cord from the side it perks right up without fail. I am not tech savvy enough to tell you why but it really made my life easier. Just wanted to share. :p

Problem Solved

Update...

I entered this command at the terminal to change the safesleep mode to 0, and I haven't had the same problem so far....

This command allows you to see what mode you are in...
Code:
pmset -g | grep hibernatemode

This command changes it to NO SafeSleep
Code:
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0

Here's hoping!!!

p.s. here's the link to the site that I got the info from...

This solution works for me. Waking up nicely from Sleep!

My old MBP(2008) had trouble waking up from sleep and one day it just stopped responding. It was a logic board issue for me.
