When the problem happens again, please post back with your panic.log report. (Console -> /Library/log -> Panic Report -> most recent report). We want to know if it's a kernel panic first of all, and second, what causes the panic.

I was having this issue (as stated in my previous post in this thread), I called AppleCare regarding it and they told me to do an erase and install. After the erase and install, I used the computer over the weekend and the issue was still prevalent over that course of time. So after another call to Apple they replaced my computer and I got a new Penryn MacBook Pro. For now I'm a happy camper![]()

wow what?
they told me to do the same thing at the store.
did you have any extras added on to your comp.
wow maybe i will take the plunge and erase and install for the 10th time in 3 months. i just had it going great to.
so you called?
did they test it?
omg so excited.so excited for you. how old was your mbp
One thing I probably should've mentioned though, is that the MacBook Pro that they replaced was a replacement. In other words they replaced the original MacBook Pro with the SR one and then replaced the SR one with the Penryn one. And they had my pack up the MacBook Pro in the original box and send it to their depot in Northern California. As soon as it was shipped they shipped the replacement and it got to me in a day. (It was a stock MacBook Pro)
i absolutely know nothing about which model is which. so im guessing you go the same one you had, and it wasn't older than 14 days
I've been using that Deep Sleep widget and it seems to be working alright. Granted it is waaaaaay too slow for a permanent fix.
I think my Macbook Pro has just been trying to spite me. It seems like it wakes fine when I'm doing casual stuff, but every time I needed it for something important, like taking it out at a meeting, it wouldn't turn on the screen and I would have to restart it.
When apple tells people that its the graphics update, or 10.5.2, are they just like "Well I guess it sucks to be you"? Or is there actually something in the works to fix this? Being able to sleep/wake a computer seems like a fairly major feature.
I have to admit, while I love my mac in general way more than I did my PCs (I switched about a year ago), I could always come up with some ridiculous solution to the problems I had on the PC. On the mac, I feel like sometimes you're just like "Well Ok. I guess that doesn't work. Hopefully it will someday."

Since I haven't gotten my mac yet (2 more weeks til my parents get me one augh it's killing me), I can imagine that feeling. I've had different kinds of problems and some really serious ones (wouldn't boot etc) and I'd tinker with my PC laptop for hours to figure it out and solve it.
Crap I hope I don't get this damn sleep problem when I get my MBP. It'd just kill the whole switching experience![]()
After receiving the Penryn replacement MacBook Pro, I am happy to say that I am problem free so far. No sleep issues, so no worries![]()

Soooo...what do you think my chances of your luck are?
Would you recommend calling Apple or going to a store? I mean, a replacement would be nice, but as long as it just stops this nonsense, I don't really care one way or the other...
Also, when you do a fresh install of Leopard, do you need to backup your stuff first or does it not affect it?
(Sorry to sort of hijack this thread a little bit...)
