I can imagine which one of us would have to bail you out of Apple jail for stealing all the non-official polishing cloths. I can see you being led out by security while yelling "But there's no Apple logoooooooooooo!"

Having lived with a 2019 Touch ID MBP and non-touch ID wired keyboard for a few years, it just comes down to whether you can be bothered to reach over to another keyboard instead of spending $200. It would not be a problem with Face ID. It would work from any camera, including the 5K. Apple is just being Apple...

No need to wash it since I have secured 10 of them 😂 I wouldn’t recommend washing it though… maybe just spray some febreze on it?
