Oh my god, finally. Gonna use my M1 MBP until 2k6.
Wouldn't that be 2006 not 2026? :p

But yeah same here. My 14" M1 Max is still plenty powerful enough for what I use it for. The updates that have come along since I bought it didn't seem nearly enticing enough to even remotely consider replacing my existing machine. But 2-3 years from now I could definitely see it at least beginning to show its age a little bit. Plus that refreshed design will be tempting.

Will be interesting to see how they pull it off.

They could integrate the camera into the display I guess so it is less of a notch and more of a hole who knows?
The Apple logo on the back will fold out to a position behind and above the display, to serve as a mirror for the new back camera.

That “roadmap” link doesn’t work, for me at least.
Can someone confirm that this is indeed an Apple roadmap? Or is it a Gurman “roadmap”?
It’s an Omdia roadmap that is based on supply-chain information.

You guys hating the notch haven't embraced it! I added one to my 42" LG OLED. Wouldn't have it any other way 😉

MacBook Pro's first redesign since 2021, with a thinner design and other changes likely.
I’d rather they focus on maximizing battery life instead of going thinner. Go for the longest lasting laptop instead of the thinnest.

I guess I'll be using my 2020 M1 MacBook Air for a bit longer. Such a timeless and classic design. Wedge and all.

The recent MacBook designs with the notch are ugly in my opinion and make no sense, since there isn't even a Face ID module or special hardware. I understand Apple wanted to have thinner bezels, but there are plenty of Windows computers with symmetrical thin bezels that don't have a notch...

Dell has a camera in the bezel that's about the same size as the MBP bezel. It's easily possible if Apple wanted to.
It’s not just a camera. The camera module has a camera, two sensors, and mounting hardware (it has to be super thin). They will need to reengineer this to get those sensors to work under screen. That just hasn’t been important enough to change until now. Most users are not bother by or even notice the notch.

In my time with the Mac I never had so many menu bar items. Who know, maybe they'll add new menu bar customization and organization features at some point.
In the meantime, just get Bartender or one of its competitors. It was needed even before the notch appeared if you have more than a small number of apps.
