I think apple enjoys letting hype build up without actually having to do any work.

Unfortunatly this also leads to wild rumors and people often find themselves dissapointed.

So...

...does this mean no update on September 30th either since there's no news of invitations being sent out? Or could they be sent out tomorrow (Wednesday)??

Wait until October. Invitations went out like clockwork for the iPod event, if there wasn't one yet for next Tuesday, don't expect an event next Tuesday.

I love my AP computer science class! Only 3 of us have macs, but we flaunt them with pride...And of the PCs the school lends to other students(were transitioning to laptop carts with macbooks :D) at least half of them get the BSOD once or more per class :rolleyes::apple::apple:
 
Most reasonable sources are pointing to mid October (14th) and it is the most probable date.

I would not be expecting anything sooner than that.

Something interesting on the other hand......
Recently I spoke to someone in apple.....they would not give me any information whatsoever about the new range. They just had a big grin on their face the whole time, pretty much indicating that they have see the new range, used the new range, know all the price points, know all the specs and when they are going to be released. This is the case so that apple employees can get themselves ready for the launch.
The exact same thing happened to me while I was trying to get info from this person on previous Apple updates.

It’s coming soon!!!! Everyone will just have to wait until MID OCTOBER!!!

Yeah, patience I dont have :p Just ordered the current MBP online last night.
I know I may be kicking myself within the next few weeks, but I needed the MBP now and could not hold out for something based on rumors.
 
You really think Nahelem Mac Pros are less then a month away?
I'd be amazed if thats true.. and prepared to get out my check book.

I just haven't heard anything in so long.. there are laptop rumors constantly :\

I agree that timing seems likely, but as far as I can tell, it is only one well-known source (Gruber) that has said mid-October, most other sources are indirectly quoting him. :confused:

Anyway I will make a decision by the 14th one way or the other.
 
Im nearly at cracking point as well. Daughter off to uni the weekend after this one. Her first Mac, it would be nice to get it all sorted before she goes, there is also the benefit of getting the last of the old line, where problems have been sorted, against the first of a new revision which may have some teething problems.
May just head off to Milton Keynes apple store this afternoon... should I or shouldn't I?

for all the mac user who do not want to wait anymore this could might be a solution ;)

we are are the customers, we bring the our money to apple and we do this voluntarily and nobody forces us to. If we would stop now doing this i am sure apple will release the notebooks as soon as possible, because they want to get even more of our money. in germany they say the customer is king and now is the time to show apple that they can not do everything with their fans. they stopped listening to us and this must be punnished :D

but unfortuently i know there are still millions of others who do not care that they buy hardware not worth the price, please do not miss understand me the apple products are good but the hardware is old and not worth the price (mbp 2100€?????) :mad:

so lets go on strike and create flyers and websites which tell all the people outside to stop buying the current notebooks

do not take this to serious but think about it
 
For UK Appleheads: Just checking the store now, In the refurbs they had macbook airs.. have they always been there? I don't remember them (another sign of impending change in next couple of weeks?) And furthermore the 1.8Ghz Macbook Air is now showing a Shipping estimate of 3 days, where everything else is still 24hrs. If the rest change then that's a sure fire wire of knowing it'll be very soon (within a week).

I think we're in pretty much the same situation, I want an Air for uni as well, but right now I'm waiting for a revision :).

Apart from better specs I can't even see room for improvement, it's simply the best laptop for me. Please Apple, let it be before Christmas...

I think they're unlikely to redesign Air right now. I hope all this 16:9 BS isn't affecting Macs yet.

3.06GHz iMac is on 3 Days to as well now.
 
In France, MacBook are all 24h but MBA 1,8Ghz are 3 days. =)
It's the same for 24" iMac. :)

Edit : some MBA on the French refurb. I never saw them before. And all the MacBooks that were here yesterday have left.
 
I've given up hope on anything until October 14th. Hey, but I'd be over the moon if it was sooner! :D As I've said, that's the time I am allocating to allow something new to come out. If not, I will reassess my options and most likely buy. The rumors seem to point at October 14, and its only 20 days away from tomorrow so not that far away! uggh LOL
