...people now need big screen's to work with

I worked with a 12" for years and loved it. Portability trumps screen size in my book. I don't think anything has changed. In fact, I see fewer pixels on a 13" MacBook than I did on a 12" PowerBook.

And if I really want a big screen in a place I frequent often, I can just set up a large monitor there.

You mean, better resolution.

A lot of people are happy to surf the web on their iPhones/Pods.

i have an iPhone and im VERY happy to surf on that..
i mean if you talk about a MacBook, it's fine as its mostly only used for regular stuff.. but a Pro is for people who use editing and ... softwares..

otherwise u should go for a Netbook.
anyways just my opinion..

12" PB versus MacBook display

FYI... just looked it up:

12" PowerBook: 1280 x 854

13" MacBook: 1280 x 800

The MacBook has a decidedly larger screen (and takes up a lot more room in my backpack), but the 12" definitely showed me more stuff.

I would love a 12" PowerBook with an Intel processor, a screen as bright as a MacBook, and no optical drive.

Don't know where you got that from - the 12" PowerBook was a 4:3 for a start, and it featured a 1024x768 resolution.

Absolutely correct. The 15" PowerBook G4's were the ones with a 1280 x 854 resolution.

The MacBooks have 237,568 more pixels than the 12" PowerBook G4 did. And it looks far better too.

From an overconfidence in the semi-truths of Wikipedia. Shoulda checked my sources first, dangnabbit!

(The sad thing is... I friggin' knew this. I know the proper ratios, so why would I trust Wikipedia over my own brain??)

I'll fix that page in a little while.

In any event, I still miss the 12".

OK, now I'm just looking like a double-moron. Wikipedia is right... I just read the page wrong.

SIGH.

That's the main argument of internet-eats-away-our-brains believers...

Anyway, the real question is... if you knew, why did you bother with Wikipedia?!

I had a false memory of thinking the MB had a smaller screen when I moved from the 12" to the MB.

The real memory was feeling disappointed that even though my computer was much larger, I wasn't seeing very much more real estate, especially vertically. 768 up to 800 was practically unnoticeable, and widescreen is boring to me. Reading web pages is mostly about length, not width.

I can't agree completely. While I think it's way better on small screens (~13") to have more vertical space, on bigger ones (over 17") widescreen is good - you wouldn't gain more usable vertical space anyway, but you can have 2 docs/sites/anything next to each other.

I'm not building myself up for today and spending the day on MR getting excited. I'd love if I woke up with a surprise tomorrow in that MBs were released but I don't know anymore :( I've been waiting forever and I'm so discouraged

i agree its really fustrating waiting :( oh well, cant really rush apple... they wont release early unless they see a HUGE profit to be made.

Hi guys. I'm in France (GMT+1), do you know the difference between Apple time and France ?

I mean, it's 10.25 pm here. If Apple closes the Apple Store, what french time should it be ?

Let's pray :apple:

Why can't people google for time zone differences on their own?

You're 9 hours ahead of San Francisco time. That means you can expect an online update, if there will be one, around 6 PM France time.
