MacBook Shipments Have Begun?

Not necessarily. As I've said before, I really can't see Apple not updating their products before Christmas it would be insane to leave the notebooks without an update for nearly a year! I don't think they've ever left it that long, have they?

Apple would never do it. We just have to have patience and perseverance. Apple is teaching us these things. :D

I wouldn't know how they would know but October is the maximum time I am waiting so I hope they are right :D

She was an Apple employee, not a BestBuy employee. It was also "confirmed" by somebody else....I "know."

We'll just leave it at that...and either way, I'm going to be ready to explode waiting just a couple more weeks.

Ok, well I'll be happier if you are right. I'd be happier if it happened on the 30th but I can wait 2 more weeks :D

Then the big question is:
Is the Mac Mini finally going to rest in peace? :D

or

Will it still be going to be updated?

Anyone have any predictions on the Mac Mini?

The way I feel right now, I'm not sure I can wait 2 more weeks. I want a new macbook NOW:(

If I where you I'd wait at least three to four weeks after any new product begins shipping then they can iron out all the 'kinks' that first batch runs always have...very difficult to do ( believe me I know), with all the hype that will surround the release , but all the same , wait !.

I think :apple: would do good updating the mini at MWSF.
Making it a very worthy update, low price point, and lots of media at MWSF.

They have to show off something at MWSF and I don't think we'll see a tablet or a macbook touch very soon. So it must be ACD or a big mini update.

I think they might give it a whole redesign?

I know the feeling :( I'm having a hard trouble waiting too. But knowing it's just a couple of weeks away soothes the pain

So Oct 14 confirmed or the week before? Pls be the latter since I'll be leaving the country on the week of the 14th, and I desperately need a new laptop by then ^^;

I called my Visa company, and the Warranty Manager (or something like that) extends the Apple warranty for one year beyond. For something like $120 they will extend it to four years.

It's driving me nuts. My iBook is so old it locks up on lots of websites and I have to restart due to low memory a couple of times a day.

I would be perfectly happy with the currently offered Macbook 2MB ram with superdrive, but I would be really ticked off if two weeks from now a much better deal is available.

I'll be hung for treason perhaps, but I went out to look at Sony Vaio laptops last week because the price diff is working against my better instincts.

Seems to be quite common practice, but many people don't realise and fork out for applecare and other 3rd party warranty. Companies make fortunes from this, and many high street retailers specialize in nothing else.
You need to register the products with your card issuer after buying.

Don't worry I did that too this week. I have a 1ghz G4 17" Powerbook and I could really use an upgrade. These Vaio's and other PC's make it so attractive on price but I just know I won't be happy with Vista or even XP. This Powerbook has been a Gem and has really given me no major problems until recently. I have to use my best judgement and keep waiting ....and waiting......No matter the specs it will be a major upgrade. I am just hoping for new case designs.

Even if you do wait for new models, you could consider osx86 on other hardware if it suits you better. Seems like a good form of customer feedback to me.

Considering there's been so many people claiming to know someone who confirms Oct. 14th for sure, and with a mix of all the rumors, I think it's true that they'll either be announced and/or released Oct. 14th.

Whenever I look at PC's, I have to remind myself that millions of people use these computers for everything I want to use my new Macbook for; and yet I found the Sony Vaio to be inferior. This surprised me because I think of Sony as a universally quality product. The trackpad was clumsy and when I clicked on something (can't remember what it was) a box opened and showed the computer thinking, looking very much like an old DOS shell screen. When I then remind myself about viruses and PC friends calling me to "see if you can open this", or for advice on printer issues (Why do PC folk think Mac folk have the answers to PC problems?) and the shorter lifespan of PC's- there really isn't a choice. Which is why it sucks, because Apple KNOWS there is no choice.

Anyway, I needed to vent, so thanks for listening.

I hope so. I was crushed when the magic didn't happen on Tuesday, and I'm way too old to be waiting in line for concert tickets or technology releases.
