Are we reading the same forum? ;) No, honestly, I'm complaining about all laptop screens. We get either a smaller screen or a bigger dot. Either way it's a downgrade. And I still insist MB and MBA would suffer most. I hope Apple isn't going to do that to us.

1280x800---->1366x768 is not really a downgrade of any sorts unless that 800--->768 really matters to you. That should be balanced with 1280--->1366.
So, pretty much a neutral situation.

so being new to this forum and soon to be a new macbook pro owner i have a few questions.

First: when the new macbooks are released(lets say they're released the 14th oct as speculated) around what date would they be released in other coutries...more importantly sweden or dubai. Might be hard to predict but maybe some members here know from previous releases.

Second: how long after the updates are released will they continue selling the old macbook pro (the current one). and with considerable price cuts right?

third: do the latest MBP's still have the problem with being very warm..or has that been resolved?
cheers everyone!

I think the same time around the world on October 14th.

They will not price cut the "old" MacBook Pro. The new MacBook Pro should be available right away in the stores once they are released.

Probably not but some people do have/had video card issues. I hope this issue is solved with the new MacBook Pros.
cheers everyone!
Welcome to MacRumours. :)

but surely the retailers with large storages must have some way of getting rid of the old mbp's. Thereby i would expect price cuts...correct?

and thanks for quick reply kabunaru:)

I never seen and heard of Apple retail store price cutting "old" Macs before the new ones.

Cosmetic or substantive?

With regard to the rumored MacBook Pro update, I've read a lot of speculation about case changes, keyboards, etc.

I'm interested because I was considering buying a 17" 2.5 G MBP. Normally, I'd be happy to wait out the upgrade, but I'm getting ready to leave on a protracted motorcycle trip, and need a laptop ASAP. I'd consider it worth the wait if, say, they're going to boost the Processor up to 3 Gigs, but not if we're just talking a more ergonomic keyboard.

Is there any talk about a boost in processor speed?

Thanks,

Hi all, brand new to the forums and to macs (my friend has a powerbook G4 that i use, and kinda pushed me into the mac world).

Just had a question related to the store release of the new MBPs. Typically, how long does it take before new macs are available refurbished? And is there any consensus on whether it is better to buy a brand new mac, or wait to buy a refurbished? I read refurbs tend to be better due to being individually tested.

I think it should not matter. I heard of people having problems with refurbished Macs.

I say buy the new Macs once they are released.

if those are the real pictures i am so glad i got mine a month ago, i love btw. The black and the aluminum clash so bad, it looks like a blind kid picked the colors. terrible try at fake pics.

i personally don't think there is anything wrong with the contrast of black and aluminum.

i love the look of the imacs, i'm pretty sure that if they design the new MB and MBPs in the same vein they'll look really nice, too.

what i really want is matte screen option for MBs.

My girlfriend ordered a white macbook in apple norway store. They had to send a macbook from netherland, because they have no more macbooks in norway. So i hopefully think the new MB and MBP comes this thuesday:)

Wouldn't it had been worth waiting for what will be clearly a superior product in a couple of weeks? Now seems like the worst time to buy MacBook. Any chance of cancelling?

She did need a MB now, but i think it's best to cancel, and wait for the new one. She will get all the money back if she sends it back within 14 days:) It can't be long now! :) 7/10 or 14/10!? :D

Refurbished store online, I guess . ;)

What happened to the clearance section in online store? :)

I don't know about refurbs, never having owned one, but I'd say wait a month or so after the release if you don't need a new laptop earlier. If it isn't major redesign, the new MBPs will most likely be perfectly fine, but there's always a chance something went wrong and will be quietly corrected later (i.e. Air's overheating issue).

Yes, Nehalem is the real deal. Any idea when we might see it in the MacBooks? Spring 2009?
Early 2010.

The logical move would be from 2.4/2.5/2.6 GHz to 2.4/2.53/2.8 GHz.
