A few weeks ago i had the opportunity to borrow a friends Macbook and update my database in terms of Video Editing performance. Altough it is not the machine i would suggest for this kind of work, there is some areas where it actually is capable, specially using FCPX.
Tests were done in Adobe Premiere, FCPX, Screen Flow, After Effects, Apple Motion 5

Some of the machines that i had the chance to put in this database
    - Macbook Pro 15" Late 2013 I7 Gtx750
    - Mac Mini Late 2012 I7 2,3Ghz
    - Imac 21" Late 2013 I5 2,7Ghz
    - Imac 27" Late 2013 I7 GT 780m
    - Imac 27" Late 2014 I7 X295m
    - Mac Pro Late 2013 I7 (6 Core) Dual D700 64GB
    - Mac Pro Late 2013 I7 (8 Core) Dual D700 64GB

    Hope it helps :)

Nice video. Think it would have any problems with basic iMovie stuff?

For basic editing on iMovie and on FCPX you will be more than fine :)
