Could be one big misunderstanding, but there are alot of signs pointing to yes, Tuesday May 9th. When these come out it will be my first Mac purchase, I have been a PC user ever since I knew how, hated macs all my life, but now they support all the programs I use though bootcamp, and I can finally check out OSX and the Mac Platform.

And the MacBook will get Merom LONG after the MacBook Pro gets it. Not before Fall 07, my prediction. When the MacBook Pro gets Penryn, the MacBook will get Merom.
No, Apple will want to get rid of 32-bit systems as soon as possible.

The latest that the iBook will get Merom is the first price drop. More likely, Apple will set the price so that they can change to Merom much earlier.

You'll see Merom-based iBooks for the holiday shopping season. Lenovo/HP/Dell will have mostly Merom, Apple won't be caught selling second-tier goods for top-tier prices - now that everyone can compare Apples to HPs. By October, "Yonah" will smell worse than "Celeron" ever did.

Hmmm, maybe you're right.

I can't wait until tuesday!!!

From dealmac.com :

Apple iBook G4/1.33GHz 12" for $900 shipped after rebate
7:41 pm ET, Apr 25, 2006; expires 11:59 pm ET, May 9, 2006
Amazon.com again offers the Apple iBook G4/1.33GHz 12" Notebook, model no. M9846LL/A, with 12.1" 1024x768 LCD, 512MB RAM, 40GB hard drive, DVD/CD-RW combo drive, Bluetooth 2.0, and AirPort Extreme for $999.99. A $100 mail-in rebate chops the price to $899.99. With free shipping, that's still the lowest total price we've seen. Rebate ends May 9.

http://dealmac.com/deals/Apple-i-Book-G4-1-33-GHz-12-for-900-shipped-after-rebate/117044.html
Of course, Amazon runs these rebates quite often, usually without anything coming of it. Perhaps this time it is different. We'll see.

The thing I find funny is that there are no real "leaks" so to speak. No Photos, confirmed sources, nothing. If every store had this "X-mas Pallete" in it, dont you think there is atleast one person who is willing to share it with the rest of us? lol just a thought, I know that if someone found out they would be toast but still, it may develop in the comming 2 days. 1 Day in advance, is still 1 day in advance.

Tiem Will Tell and I have alot to kill. Funny, were mostley waiting to spend money..... and some alot at that....

I think the hard drive size will be a bit bigger. These are specs for the old systems. I think you will see a 60GB and a 80 or 100GB. and I also hope they will include a x1600 or an x1400 if anything with 128mb (needs a descent card). As for the processors. It's stupid to put a low in processor and not allow an upgrade option for custom orders. I think the mac mini with a core solo is outright stupid.

THIS IS IT PROOF THAT THE APPLE VS APPLE CASE has resulted in a BIG judgment AGAINST APPLE

The reason the MacBook announcement was delayed was to try to boost the stock after the announcement of this BAD NEWS

Apple also announced a big spending increase for its new campus YESTERDAY

The rules is get all the bad news out at once with the worst news LAST.

low voltage?

with all this proc speculation...

what about a low voltage core duo 1.5 or even better 1.66? Together with IIG that will result in some nice 8 h of battery life. Pricewise that could end up at 1499$. Voila the fantastic new small "pro-orientated" Macbook? Nicely filling the otherwise occurring the pricegap. I'd jump.

I find this comment to be outright stupid. Not everyone needs dual core, it has it's purposes for multi-tasking, but for your average mac mini buyer they're not encoding DVDs while listening to music or watching a video, etc. It's a fantastic machine for it's intended audience (maybe even a bit above it's intended audience).

This is obviously slightly offtopic but...

Hmm. I'm not saying that the judgment will necessarily go in Apple's favour, but the parties aren't in any position to know the judgment until its handed down - they don't get a special 'preview' you know.

In principle, maybe you're right - maybe they knew their position was flawed and that they'd lose (why they'd continue to litigate in those cirucmstances is beyond me). Having said that, I doubt she should be the one copping the blame - she was working for Jobs at NeXT when the 1991 Agreement was drafted at Apple.

But I guess time will tell...

As for the MacBook, loving the suggestions here - I'm also a believer in the all Core Duo lineup, perhaps with the top end MacBook having a 1.83 Core Duo + X1600 upgrade options, to cater for those who swore by the 12 inch Powerbook. I also reckon they'll finally have DVI on these suckers. Would love to be expecting ExpressCard 34 at least, but no point having unrealistic expectations. :)

lol No I wouldnt, but for how many things actually leak before the information is availible, i'm sure someone would

As for specs, i'll post my hopes, I'm going to go for the higher end version and my hope is for a Duo, non integrated graphics, superdrive and be availible in black. :)

Bye Bye Pee Cee

MAN,
I can't wait to get a Mac and enter the apple world..Time for a change!!

wow hopefully they do release the macbook finaly tuesday.

However I hope they have a very large stock as to avoid backorders because there is most likely no way in hell Im gona have the time to order one this week. I got my college finals all this week with 6 essays and 3 projects due so Ill probably be spending all my time in the comp labs :( If it were up to me i would say apple should wait a week so I can pounce on it the moment they become availible :D

has apple ever released 2 updated laptops within a 2 week period?
after all, the 17" MBP just came out.

No way the MacBooks are going to go Merom 5 months after they started shipping with Yonah. You gotta remember MacBooks are consumer machines and Apple will save the better (read: more expensive) processor for the "Pro" machines. Yonah is going well into 2007 for the MacBooks. It will be a way to distinguish "pro" from "consumer" portables and actually justify the MacBook Pro's price a little more. When the G4 processor came out and started shipping in Powerbooks, the G3 processor remained in the iBooks for quite some time. You'll see a similar thing with the MacBooks.

Just saw an Acer notebook:

£760 inc VAT (Approx $1099)

15.4” TFT
CoreDuo 1.66Ghz
1GB RAM
80GB HDD
DVD-RW
Radeon X1400 128MB GPU
Wi-Fi/Bluetooth
Digicam built-in 1.3MP
Card Reader 5-in-1

Yes it is Acer and yes their notebooks have always been substantially better equipped than other PC manufacturers but I do not see why the new MacBook should not be able to hit the £699/$999 price tag at least with:

Core Duo 1.66GHz Processor
13.3" TFT
512MB DDR667 Memory
60GB HDD
CD-RW/DVD Combo
Intel GMA950 GPU
Airport/Bluetooth
iSight and FrontRow

I think you're right that the macbook should be able to hit that price/spec if the acer is as above. Less RAM, smaller HD, integrated, combo drive. In fact, after typing that out, the macbook should be a good deal better than that price/spec. Not that I think it will be.

If apple could hit those same specs at that same price I'd be *thrilled.* Wow, the more I look at it, the more impressed I am with that acer. I know it's windows and ugly, but still. Truly awesome specs for that price.

So is it to late for apple to send out invitations to an event? You would think they would of sent out the invitations already. :(

i dont think that apple necessarily wants an event for all product launches. The reality is they are only releasing 1 product and i dont think that is worthy of entire event. Usually they show a few products at the events so its possible this will be a quick online launch just like the 17" mbp
