prism_emf said:Am I the only one who doesn't buy this bit? A 16:9 aspect ratio wouldn't make any sense when practically *all* computer widescreen displays are 16:10. Old Powerbooks were 15:10 but that was fixed last autumn... The MacBook display will be 1280x768.
Don't get me wrong, I would love nothing better than there just being two aspect ratios - 4:3 and 16:9. But that's not how it is in reality...
Unless, of course, they aren't called 'MacBoks' or if they are released on a Wednesday.zelmo said:If you post "MacBooks this Tuesday!!" often enough, it will eventually come true...![]()

Is this normal? healthy?
macgeek2005 said:Think secret updated they're MacBook article. Now they say they will be coming in black and white configurations, be slightly thinner than previous ibooks, and cost slightly more than previous ibooks.

Just to restate my predictions:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/198096/
"As I am the master of information, I will tell ya what is gonna happen...
The PB 12" and the iBook lines will be merged - result? No more iBook 14" or PB 12"...only the MacBook 13.3" widescreen in 3 main models:
Ugly - Core Solo/GMA 950/Combo/40Gb - $ 999
Bad - Core Duo/GMA 950/Combo/60Gb - $ 1299
Good - Core Duo/X1300/Superdrive/80Gb - $ 1499
AP Extreme/BT/512Mb/iSight/FR/Remote/MagSafe standard across the line.
Colors: Snow/Graphite
Please check this post after the MB launched, OK?"

Apple will use the MacBook 13.3 inch to replace all the existing PowerPC laptops. iBook 12 & 14, and PowerBook 12.
The new laptop will come in black and white, and will have 2 types:
Type 1, $999 USD. Intel core duo, SuperDrive, iSight, 60 GB, etc.
Type 2, $1249 USD. Intel core duo, SuperDrive, iSight, 80 GB, etc. Faster than type 1.
My theory is that Apple is just going to stop producing Combo drives, and just have Super drives.
Thats what I think.
[edit] I also think that in the next 2 months they'll release a Intel tower. MacBox or something.
macgeek2005 said:Customer: Well, I need a decently powered laptop that isn't too expensive.
Sales Rep. Well, we have for $1249 a very decent MacBook that has a superdrive an 80GB hard drive and everything.
Customer: Well I want more than that. I can afford more than $1249.
Sales Rep: Alright, then you're looking at $750 more for the lowest end MacBook Pro.
Customer: ...... uh,, okay then. I think i'll go buy from a company that has a powerful laptop for less than $1999!!! Bye.
edit: In other words, you're dead wrong. There is going to be a macbook or macbook pro that costs $1499. That's for sure.
forrest1992 said:They might make a MacBook Pro around 1500, but not a MacBook.
If your guess is right, Apple would be ruling out a lot of students, parents buying there kids a first computer, etc.
Bottem line, we'll [hopefully] see on Tuesday!

a few days i posted the following...
>>>>>
13.3 macbook single core 1.67, white, $999
13.3 macbook dual core 1.67 (maybe bto 1.83), igp, white, $1249
13.3 macbook pro, dual core 1.83 (maybe bto 2.0), x1?00, black $1499-1699
at the same time mbp gets a speedbump to 2.0 and 2.13 (think about the price of the 17 mbp)
<<<<<
i have no sources, but thats what i would do if i were SJ
edit: meanwhile i think the $999 macbook will only have a 1.5 solo instead
macgeek2005 said:They're not gonna have a black macbook pro, and two white macbooks. Whatever they release will be available in both black and white, unless they release an aluminum 13.3 inch macbook pro. That's what I would want.
