1. Sexy like a M.F.
2. Looooong battery life

Those are my major concerns. I assume the superdrive will be an option if it's not as standard.

Dedicated graphics would be good but it's not too important really. If it doesn't come as standard, would it be a custom option?

Oh and a backlit keyboard.... but perhaps that would come under 'Sexy like a MOFO' ;)

If they are getting rid of the iBooks as well as the 12 inch powerbook on tuesday, then there will be a machine for around $1499 or $1599, that has dedicated graphics, whether or not it's called MacBook or MacBook Pro.

I hope at least one of these Macbooks can drive a 30" display. However, I think I am dreaming. :)

Fair enough it isn't..

But the 256mb of VRAM is still overkill.. Firstly, cuz it is. And secondly, you'd be a idiot to make OS that would require atleast 256mb of VRAM. And I didn't miss your point, but maybe you missed mine. There is no way that anything you put on your desktop can take up that much space as a simple image. If 256mb of VRAM is enough to contain all the data there must be while playing a graphic intesive game like Doom 3, it should be more then plenty (read: way to much) to take care of the 2d graphics of your desktop. So you wasted your money dude.
Maybe he just wants to be able to run Vista.:D

I don't think we have a chance for that. Regardless of whether or not we get integrated graphics, I'd be willing to bet Apple will retain that feature for their "pro" machines, to differentiate better between the price classes.

Ok seriously when people make fake invitations why don't they bother to check if Moscone Center is booked for something else first? Like say, the Symantec Vision 2006 convention thats going on from 5/8/2006 to 5/11/2006 in Moscone West?

I guess they get some credit for spelling San Francisco right on this one though...
Moscone West Can Easily Host A Launch And A Trade Show
Moscone West is a big place and easily capable of hosting the MacBook launch as well as a trade show. :) I think the invite is real.

A freind of a freind of mind sent me this email of the new iBooks, known as the "MacBook Nano Pro." Melts in your mouth not in your hand.:p

Then only one question remains: is it worth us Aussies getting up at 4AM? ;)

Are you on crack? You can't seriously believe that the invite is remotely real?
My experience with Apple invites tells me that looks real. Combined with rumors on this string I believe it is real. I am not on drugs nor alcohol. :)

Why do you think it is not real Leemo?

Since *none* of the major technology blogs have received invites, nor posted anything regarding this it's highly unlikely this is real. The website holding details for that conference centre doesn't state that Apple is there during any period of May-June, nevermind May 9th.

I think the MacBooks do have a chance of coming out on Tuesday, but not at this event featured on this invite - simply because it doesn't exist and isn't going to happen.

come on, this invite aint real, there isnt anything apple related booked there!

Your crazy, your the typ of guy that makes invites like these, and actually believe it yourself...
So you think they only put symantec on the site, while apple has a bigass launch!?
**** the more time i spend here the less i believe it, and seeing it again just pass by, nothing happening, and everyone pissed off again waiting for next week and randomly pick any day and discuss this crap over and over again!!
Nice rumor again, these sites just make it up everytime just to get more visitors.
I bet they cover this up with some delay for unknown reasons, and post 'black boxes' pictures next week and start over again..
Im out of here, and you all should quit reading rumors and just wait for apple official reports. This applegeek **** is getting out of hand:mad:

and i agree with Leemo, your so right if these invites were send out more should have posted, and now its only on one site of some persons own blog, this is a fake from an other forum, this kid tried to make people believe it, while he just posted it himself

If it is real, note that it says "Something totally new." An apple laptop isn't exsactly a new concept.
Maybe it is something compleatly bran spanking new. Only an idea.

As someone else pointed out - look at the way they did the time.. First line reads "10:00", second line reads "9.00"...

Look at the attachment for a comparison - its an invite to a past event...:

Also, notice the 4 rounded corners.. the May 9th add only has the top 2 corners rounded...

Looks like just a bad imitation to me...

BUT - I still think (and hope) they are coming out on Tuesday. I sold my PB last night and need to see the new ones before I decide on a MacBook or a 15" MBP!

Fake

Come on man...it's abvious that the invite is a total fake. Man, and I;m only new to all this rumor crap.
It's starting to look like a skunk to me. I;m sure if this were really happening Tuesday, more buzz would be happening the last 2 days....All of this is based on an unverified source!!!!!!!!
My source at a store in Canada knows nothing of boxes or materials to remain untouched until Tuesday. Nothing..and They'd tell me..

I have three things to say.........

FAKE, FAKE, FAKE.

Something Tuesday for sure, but the invite that has been rehashed is a poor mock-up.
