Well that means hopefully next Tuesday:

MB 13.3": 1.66CD/512MB/40GB/Combo/GMA950 $999
MB 13.3": 1.83CD/512MB/60GB/Super/GMA950 $1299

and possibly

MB 13.3": 1.83CD/512MB/80GB/Super/X1400 128MB $1499

Those are the most realistic specs I've seen so far.

Look at the attachment for a comparison - its an invite to a past event...:

Also, notice the 4 rounded corners.. the May 9th add only has the top 2 corners rounded...

Looks like just a bad imitation to me...

BUT - I still think (and hope) they are coming out on Tuesday. I sold my PB last night and need to see the new ones before I decide on a MacBook or a 15" MBP!

The invite is fake, there is no question of that but...
You're wrong, Apple invites usually have 2 rounded corners and not 4... also the apple invite that you used as an example is also a fake for two reasons.

1. I actually made the 'Golden Ticket' invite, so I can guarantee that it is fake.

2. There wasn't any event on April 1st.

"C2D", not "CD2" - look at the logo again.

yeah, but they aren't old "yet". the "Core 2 Duo" won't be out for awhile, right?
Sure is different from the days of Moto/IBM, isn't it!

Now your Apple can be old technology before it's even announced!

Wait, that describes the last few PowerBook/iBook updates as well.

I mean "Now your Apple can have previous generation parts before it's even announced". For a couple of days, even "Yesterday's chips tomorrow."

THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THEY WOULD PUT A CORE DUO 1.83 in a macbook for 1299, when the next one up is 700 dollars more. The only thing you get is a slightly larger screen and a video card. Apple is not that stupid.

Yeah I know..cudnt b bothered to change them, but i think Core Duo 2 i s better than Core 2 Duo lol I mean what does that mean?! Its the second iteration of the processor so it should be Core Duo 2:rolleyes:

Core 2 Duo Is A Really Core 64 Duo

Well Core 64 Duo would have made more sense. It's the 64-bit family beyond 32-bit Yonah right AS? :p

It's the second iteration (actually, more like the first - Yonah is an updated Dothan) of the "Core" architecture, therefore "Core 2".

You should take better care of the Queen's English, sir. That shift key and the spell checker are your friends. ;)

For those who didn't follow the C|net link, they suggest that Intel will follow the

Pentium
Pentium II
Pentium III
Pentium 4

branding scheme with

Core
Core 2
Core 3
...

But I agree that "Core 64" would have been good - it would clearly show that Merom is twice as good as Yonah. Or even 64 times better. ;)

I doubt that any of the new MacBooks will have only a combo drive. The new ads tout iLife and are aimed at younger customers. If there is a correlation between the new ads and new MacBooks, it doesn't make sense to seduce customers with iLife, then sell them a product that can't use iDVD and offer only limited use of iMovie. DVD burners are less than $50 right now so why not include them in all models and provide full iLife functionality for all.

Thats exactly my point, yet the base Intel Mac Mini comes with a combo drive, and the mini has always had similar specs to the 12" iBook

With a combo drive, there is always more enticement to "upgrade" or choose to pay "that little bit" more and charge more for the "higher model".

Loooool....erm well I am from London myself so I'm no posh Queen's English rep but I have decent RP, and my grammar and spelling are reserved for examination rooms atm till I get a job:p I want to live it while it lasts hehe..thanks anyway!

As for the MB I want one because:

1. My iBook has hitherto been plagued with:

i. Uneven display brightness
ii. Trackpad faliure
iii. Apple backlight faliure
iv. Ethernet port doesnt work properly

Is SERIOUSLY underpowered...Garageband is unusable, iPhoto is barely usable. The system kinda grinds to a halt with multi apps open. Take it off PSU and its horrible at 667Mhz power saver mode. Graphics is crap, the chip is underclocked has only 32MB VRAM it feels crap with CoreImage utilized, I had to Aticellerator it to make the most of it....

Thumbs up for Apple stuff...only the iBook falls short of what I expected...hope the MB is much better...

Apple won't be able to keep the MacBook line of CPU's back a version while the MBP's get new CPU's. Imagine how much bad press Dell would get if they put P3's into their budget desktops. Apple's in the x86 world now, they need to play by those rules...there's going to need to be something besides CPU that'll differentiate between MB and MBP.

Why the hell is the Mini a bad computer?

I have the Dual Core Mini with 2gb of ram and I love the machine! I use it with FinalCut Pro to produce my broadcasting journalism courswork, write and produce music with Logic and Garageband, and not to mention my dabbling with a digital SLR and Aperture/iPhoto.

It's more than capable of performing the above tasks for me - sure if I was editing more than the half hour documentary I have to produce I may want something with a bit more grunt, but it's a very nippy machine (at least when it's got more than 512mb of ram in anyway).

Sure it won't play games at any decent level - but so what? I have my Xbox 360 for that.

Well stated!!!! Not everyone is gamer.

Guess who's sweating?

uh, riiiight.

And what did you do to your iBook that made it run like that?

What if??

What if nothing happened on tuesday?? Would most or all of the Apple rumor site members come down at Apple? Even though they initially started the 'tuesday rumor' ??

Don't get me wrong. I'm as curious about the next iBook (MacBook?) as the next guy or gall, but aren't we getting our hopes up to high?

Also, that iPod > MacBook 'mistake' could easely have been a joke by Apple (just to see how everybody would react to it).

well u have a point. we could easily have nothing new on Tuesday. but i sure hope that something is released....anything

I was in the Apple Store today and the manager would not confirm or deny the Tuesday deal. However, he said that everything seems to be aligning to something happening Tuesday.

Even though many people have laid claim to Apple Stores getting materials to not open until the 9th, he says he has not gotten any.

No black pallets either with hidden product.

He expects to get a part number tomorrow that will be unidentified until a later date.

He also says that the 17" MBP will be delayed another week.

yeah as much as im hoping it to be announced this week....it wouldnt surprise me if apple didnt. i think we're getting our hopes up too high. even if it does come out, everyone's gonna be disappointed no matter what because either it wont be good enough or it will be too good and cost too much.
