Am I the only one that has an extra email account I use for these things? It's full of spam, but it's not like I ever actually check it.

actually, i have a system that has worked incredibly well for me.

I own several domain names, but one I use for all my email and have the catch-all account open. anywhere that asks me for an email i will simply use their site name @ mydomainname.com. if i ever receive spam, i obviously know exactly who sold or compromised my address and then i will simply forward that email address to a blackhole address. i have been doing this for well over the past 8 years and only a very few companies (about 4-5) have spammed that email address and i buy and/or have accounts with dozens and dozens of online merchants.

everything funnels through my gmail address now and so i only have one account to check but the addresses sent there are numerous. thus i never worry nor deal with spam.

Genius.

I don't think I've ever seen so many idiotic, whiny posts before in my life.
It's free!!!
There is no catch. It's called publicity. You know, like when McDonald's offers a free coffee in the morning hoping you'll A) buy something else and B) discover you love the coffee and want to come back for it every day.
This allows MacHeist to get more people to know about their site so when the next Heist is announced, more people will participate and allows the developers to get their apps out to a lot of people. If even a handful of people like an app, that's a handful more people to possibly purchase an upgrade or another piece of software they created.
Macheist is great. I hang out in their forums over this one solely for the increased average IQ compared to here.

anyone have the dropbox droplet for dock?

when i try to edit the script, it just says "process complete" and there is nothing to edit.

These are 30 day free trials, not free applications. No thanks. I don;t appreciate the deception.

OMG... cmon, tunr on your brain before post these things. You get the serial, these apps are complete and free.

Are people seriously still discussing this poor offer of a bunch of pointless apps that they can't even give away...?

Ridiculously simple... I love it! Never heard of anything quite like this before, but I'm sold. Will get on it tomorrow.

Yep, that's really stupid...it was really explained that it's free, and the worst it could happen is either:

- you don't really use the apps;

- you get a couple of msgs from MacHeist, or a few spam mails that go right down the drain without you ever bothering about it.

People who voted this negative (after explanations about the promotion) are morons.

Shovebox is pointless (I have a folder on a desktop for dropping off stuff),

Shovebox is Awesome!! yes many people have folder to put notes but can you call up a note with a keypad shortcut, type it in and close it while having it save automatically? Can you call up your notes with another shortcut or make rules to automatically sort notes you type? Probably not, making shovebox invaluable in my book. It also has great support for copying in images and clippings from the web. Definitely give it a look. It is a great addition to my workflow.

New Mac owners need to gather some knowledge about MacHeist before they whine all over the forum.

I have to say that while I've bought the last few MacHeist deals, this one wasn't worth anything to me. That's why I chose No when they asked if I would have paid for them. Usually there's enough useful apps in there that I can justify buying the whole kit. Sometimes you only get a certain version of an app and then the upgrade costs you money later on. Like how VM Ware works when they do an update.

MacHeist's thing is to not offer the same software... but I now have 2 copies of ShoveBox. MacHeist did say that they will offer software a second time if a significant update was released... so I'm guessing that something big happened between last years version and the new one. Or because it got super popular after the iPhone app.

If MacHeist does re-offer apps, then I want to wait and see if they offer 1Password 3.0 by Christmas. But I'm playing with fire here... an early upgrade offer is $19 while the full version is $40. If I wait it may cost me more money.

Edit: Found out last years ShoveBox was for that version only. I never figured out why or how I could use the app so I never used it.

Is Horde of Orcs running very choppy on anyone elses system? I'm on a MacBook with integrated graphics and it is giving me a hard time.

Otherwise, great bundle!!

Somewhere, I believe on the MacHeist bulletin board, I read that the no-repeat rule doesn't apply to freebies; therefore, ShoveBox is allowed.

Mine did at first, then I set it so it would run in a window instead of fullscreen and it runs much better.

Argh. I like to keep my games all in one folder inside the Applications folder, as in Utilities have their own, as not to confuse them or mix them up with other apps (browsers etc.). It seems that Hordes of Orcs doesn't work except for when it's placed in the Applications folder. C'mon, MrJoy, can't this be fixed?

The game itself actually runs fine from anywhere so I suspect this may have something to do with Freeverse's license management system. I'll have a look and talk to them about it.

Pure Genius

i will have to adopt your system

it'd be great if i know this before i got all the spams now

Likewise, wasn't 1Password a freebie for the Mac Giving Tree? so theoretically it could come back with version 3.

Also to all of you who don't think you will use this, why not get it anyway as you A may like it in future and B you help out all the people who are waiting to hit 500k

It's not really free. They take up space, create clutter and waste you time.

very good point.

I was quite happy with WriteRoom 1.0 which is free, but when I upgraded to this version I found I had to spend time upgrading EACH file and figuring out the new preference setting windows, resetting the colors, the width and height, font type and size. Something wrong with the default setting, so had so repeating setting font to what I had before from the way too tiny type. Also disappointing found they made things more complicated which kind of defeats the whole point of the program. Kind of regretting spending the time now. Maybe, maybe only worth it since the iPhone app is on sale for 99 cents instead of the ridiculously price of $5. Let's see if I actually use the iPhone app and don't revert back to Notes.

The Shovebox one doesn't let you register without providing your credit card information, so I guess I will wait till the end of the 30 day trial period and see if it gives me another option, otherwise that will be a chucked in the trash. Probably have too many things like this now anyway, (like Yojimbo and etc.). I see there is a $4 iPhone app. Already thinking I'm already syncing Omnifocus to jot down ideas and more.... and it's not good GTD to have more than one inbox so using this may just end making it harder to find things.

TinyGrab crashes on 10.4 so that's a waste for me and can't think why I would want this anyway. And a program just to save me a step or two in a what is already something I can do without it, so that will probably be in the trash before I get a new mac with SL.

Horde of Orcs, some cheezy stupid time wasting game. just what I need.

Mariner Write --- Not available to download yet. The only way I see using this is if it handles viewing docx files better than google docs. The ones people insist on sending me rather than PDF and makes me more immune from anything MS would maybe be worth it.

That's odd, it didn't do that to me. Perhaps you hit the wrong button.

I have no idea what are you talking about. After registering on macheist you will get serials for all the apps (they will show up in the receipt page). They take a couple of hours to be generated though. So check the receipt page later if they don't show up immediately. Once you get the serial just enter it the serial in shovebox and it will be registered.
