MacHeist nanoBundle Offers 6 Mac Apps For... Free

Anyone tell me why i would need these applications.

MarinerWrite is an excellent word processor. I often use it, even though I have MS Word, because it's so quick and easy compared to Word. I hope they get enough participation to make Mariner Write part of the deal.

so i downloaded them all and tried to open Hordes of Orcs, and it just plays the music with a white screen and nothing else.

I can quit, with CMD-Q, but nothing else.

The amount of people that are completely retarded and failing to even read the what it is all about, amazes me.

"OMG THEER HAZ TO BE 500k PEEPEL BEFUR I KEN UUS MA APPS"

l2read

"OMG THEES APPS R UNLY 30 DEEJ TRAAILS"

you are a ****ing moron

"OMG WHY IS MY LEG WET?"

your dog peed on your leg

Please implement a system where before you make a post it checks if your IQ is higher than your shoe size. This would prevent all these incredibly stupid people from completely degenerating this offer.

What's the catch? Nothing is ever free. Does it come with a good helping of spam?

Maybe instead you have gotten spam from those they sold your information to.

Indeed. I just got a spam from Equinux on Wednesday (makers of iSale, from the MacHeist bundle this past spring). It did have an unsubscribe link, so we'll see if that works. But the email was certainly unsolicited and a nuisance. I've never used that particular application, and most likely never will. Like most in these bundles, it seems to be a shiny solution looking for a nonexistent problem to solve.

As for this bundle, I don't see anything worthwhile in it. Don't use twitter, don't play games on the computer, vi is my word processor :)D), never understood screenshot apps when OS X does it perfectly, and my Desktop is my "Shovebox." I could download it because it's free, but just as with the many free songs offered by Amazon MP3, my time used to try it and manage it is not free.

For those who find it worthwhile, though, I'm happy for you. Hope you enjoy it. :)

You seriously write documents in vi? You must be a good speller because I'd be a goner! :p Also, you can't do any kind of rich text formatting... Unless you do it all manually with xml or something!

Vi is a text editor... not a word processor.

Look at your nanoBundle receipt: on the right there should be an email preferences panel where you can choose which developers you want to get emails from. All the paid bundle receipts have this same panel (look for your order confirmation email from the older bundle, it should have a link to your receipt page). Admittedly, it is annoying that all the developers are checked by default, but I wouldn't call Equinux's email unsolicited.

I already have a MacUpdate account. I don't feel like signing up for a MacHeist one. It's just too tedious right now for the lack of utility.

I like WriteRoom but I dislike MacHeist more.

Tedious?
What has MacHeist done to you that you dislike them so much?
It seems like some people are born to bitch

I guarantee he could have signed up for an account in the time it took him to complain about a trivial registration process.

Am I the only one who thinks Hordes of Orcs is a pretty fun game?

Im there with you... though the registration is working yet, and the trial has expired, me and the kids were having a blast once we got the hang of what to do with it. ;)

Peace

Are these games for Mac only??

is the bundle strictly for Mac user only?

I don't want to download and take a slot in to find out its only for mac.

I can't pass up on Free stuff thought. :D

A few times a year, MacRumors partners with MacHeist to promote their Mac application bundle deal. Their app bundles typically deliver a dozen Mac applications at a significant discount. The latest bundle is a bit of a departure for MacHeist by delivering 6 Mac applications ($154 value) for Free.

- ShoveBox ($25) - easily capture important bits of information
- WriteRoom ($25) - a distraction free writing environment
- Twitterific ($15) - popular Twitter client
- TinyGrab ($14) - quickly share screenshots
- Hordes of Orcs ($25) - tower defense game
- Mariner Write* ($50) - fast, streamlined word processor

Mariner Write requires 500,000 total downloads to be "unlocked". This free bundle ends in 7 days and each application represents the full licenses. Enjoy.

The "catch"

What's the catch, if any? Can someone enlighten me, please?

1. You actually have to sign up at the sight??!!??
2. You have to download the programs yourself, they don't just "magically" appear on your desktop...
3. You have to enter the serial numbers that are generated to give you the full license to the software.

If you can manage all those major issues, then there is no real catch.

"Free mac application cures cancer and brings about world peace"

- I voted negative! It might look a good deal, but it doesn't make Safari any snappier, does it? Therefore it is lame and its developers deserve to be sent to jail.

Thanks, seems great so I just signed up.

The problem that I see with some of these apps is that they seem dated.

Writeroom- while it was brilliant idea in it's time, Pages has added this and you can also use an app called Think that will darken the screen for any app you're using.

Twitterrific- I don't know if anyone really had a problem with the ads and Tweetie is better

TinyGrab-nothing that can't be done already with a workflow

Shovebox- seems like the best value. Yojimbo is supposedly the best of these kind of apps (but lacks an iPhone client) with the free version of Evernote which I was never really a fan (hate the UI and don't like the way it has it's hooks into my computer). If you only work with text than Simplenote iPhone app might be better and using it in conjunction with the Mac app JustNotes.

Out of all of these I'll take a look at Shovebox but the reviews on the iPhone app don't look too good.

Just keep trying to download. The serials might take a while to generate. I'm fairly sure you can download the software at their site and then just register when you get a chance. From reading the thread, it seems as if the developer's servers are overloaded right now.

46%

I've often wondered just how many of the people on MR are boneheaded, unreasonable, willfully unobservant, unjustified complainers or are otherwise twisted individuals.

Some days it seems like amost all users. Other days it seems like there are just a few loud bad apples.

Now I have a great estimate: 46%

That's the percent of people at the time I started writing this post who thought this whole thing is more negative than positive.

Weird.

 Sorry, I've just got to laugh at you guys.

Causes unpleasant side-effects...

I used to laugh about "4-hour erections". I simply neglected to read the fine print. Unfortunately I am paying for that ignorance now. I sure wish I hadn't downed that 36oz Mocha Skim Latte right before I hit "download". PLEASE, do yourselves a big favor... read the fine print before you suffer the same fate...

Not laughing now...
